it doesnt even bother meeee when warrior ladies are still traditionally feminine but bioware just like. i cant put it into words but its like they're sooo insecure about warrior women specifically that they have to put extra effort into reassuring us that she's still girly and has girly interests and it's just WEEEIRD

Holy fuck. Like the person you replied to, I too believed Hawke and Carver/Bethany were working to pay off the guards. But yeah. That makes it even worse. Gamlen not only roped Leandra's two remaining children into indentured servitude, he put them in indentured sertivude to his creditors.
Essentially, he is forcing Hawke and Carver/Bethany to clean up his financial messes for him. And they have no choice, because otherwise they're barred from Kirkwall. Leandra isn't just gracious; she's a saint for not making Gamlen pay back the inheritance he stole.
i think the funniest example of da fandom misogyny is the notion that leandra was somehow insane for getting mad when gamlen tried charging her rent

I know, right? Gamlen drank and gambled away the entire family fortune, leaving them all broke right at the very moment they could have used it. (A.k.a. the Blight and Kirkwall's corrupt handling of refugees). Gamlen then roped her two surviving kids into indentured servitude, because (again, thanks to him) that was the only way they could enter Kirkwall.
And then it turns out that Leandra was the designated heir to the Amell family fortune all along. Meaning all the money Gamlen frittered away? Wasn't even his to begin with! And he never told Leandra at any point during her two-decade exile. Never bothered to bring Leandra or her family back to Kirkwall prior to the Blight. He just took advantage of her absence and claimed her inheritance, all out of a sense of childish sibling rivalry. And yet Gamlen has the gall to demand money from Leandra. Who, to recap, is a widowed refugee whose children he put into indentured servitude. And of course, whose inheritance he stole and gambled away. It is in fact quite gracious of Leandra to not make Gamlen pay her every red copper of that inheritance back, plus interest.
i think the funniest example of da fandom misogyny is the notion that leandra was somehow insane for getting mad when gamlen tried charging her rent

i do think its a neat detail that while felassan never actively corrects people assuming he's dalish, he always makes sure to distinguish himself from them when he's speaking. it's not "our people" it's "their people." so he has that same divorced relationship with modern elves that solas has. except solas was so unbelievably racist he could not physically stop himself from making sure everyone fucking knew

Whenever I hear someone say “Children need a father.” I’m like. Mmmm. Kill Bill sirens. Never about child welfare and how children need multiple positive role models and it takes a village to raise them, always about shaming single moms or being homophobic. Because no. Not every child needs a father. Many children are healthier not being subjected to their father.
There was a video of a widowed woman at a wedding talking about how her son sometimes finds other kids fathers to hang out with at social gatherings because he misses his dad and the comments were like “You should remarry and give him a father.” absolutely fucked up thing to say.

The funniest part of the “ummmm actually ☝️🤓 birth control can be REALLY bad for you” responses on my ‘hey I think the current health fad demonization of hormonal birth control is right wing propaganda’ post is that I can’t take hormonal birth control. It reacts badly with my body’s chemistry. But I am wise enough to understand that it is a lifesaving medication for many people and encouraging people to get off birth control if it is working for them with no adverse reactions is bad. Birth control is bad for me and it can have terrible side effects but the potential of pregnancy and periods are worse for many people.

I hate this motherfucker the most. People in my family who should know better fell under the sway of this lying, psychotic monster. If you’ve ever loved anyone with any kind of disability, you are betraying them by looking up to this man and giving weight to anything he says.

Let’s talk about something that often goes unnoticed: how talking itself can be ableist.
Our society treats verbal communication as the only valid way to connect. If you don’t speak “correctly,” or if you don’t speak enough — or even if you don’t speak at all — you are often seen as less intelligent, less present, or less human. That is ableism.
For many neurodivergent and disabled people, including myself, speech is not always possible. Sometimes it is exhausting, or it feels more like a barrier than a bridge. Forcing people to talk, or judging them based on how they speak, is just another way society demands conformity.
We need to honor all forms of communication: AAC devices, typing, sign language, stimming, art, and silence. None of these are “less than.” They are different languages of being — rich and valid in their own right.
Challenging ableism means expanding what we accept as communication, dismantling the myth that “talking equals intelligence,” and making space for every voice, every expression, and every quiet moment.
So yes, talking is not always liberation. Sometimes it is a cage — and that’s okay. We deserve spaces where all of us can be heard, even when we do not say a single word.

You're right-I forgot about the Romeo & Juliet questline in DATV. 9.5/10 it is, then. And it's not really a "cultometer" so as much as one cult scholar's definition of a cult.
Dragon Age is perfectly correct in calling the Venatori a cult
The Venatori are frequently called a cult, but do they fit the Knitting Cult Lady (Daniella Mestyanek Young)'s definition? Well, let's look at that definition:
1. Charismatic Leadership (and their skinny white women)
2. Worldview shift that brings you under the sacred assumption
3. The transcendent mission
4. Self-sacrifice of members
5. Limits access to outside world
6. Distinguishable vernacular
7. Us vs them mentality
8. Exploits members' labor
9. High entrance and exit costs
10. Ends justify the means mentality How many does the Mourn Watch tick off? 1. In Inquisition it's Corypheus, who is admittedly pretty badass. Judging by how horny certain members of the fandom are for Ghilla'nain and El'garnan, I'd say they have a fair amount of rizz too. Check. 2. Any and all Venatori have to care about the "rebirth of Tevinter" and this justifies what they do, so yes. Check. 3. Again, rebirth of Tevinter/Teviniter superiority. Check. 4. The Tevinter you fight in DATV constantly shout about how willing they are to die for the cause, and the slaves are certainly sacrificed for the cause. Check. 5. The Venatori travel all across the world, but their slaves have to go wherever their masters go, so...check. 6. "Elder One", "false Herald", technically, check. 7. In spades. Anyone who isn't a Tevinter supremacist is an enemy in their eyes, even and especially other Tevinter people. Check. 8. They certainly exploit their slaves' labor. That alone ticks off the box, but considering how busy they are in both Inquisition and Veilguard, undoubtedly a little more exploitation happens at the higher levels. Check. 9. I can't check this off only because I don't know what the requirements are for joining the Venatori. 10. Again, in spades. Slavery, binding demons to people, breaking the universe...what wouldn't the Venatori do for Tevinter? (Except not be racist) Check.
9/10. The game is not wrong to call them a cult.

Tankies are class traitors.
Every time a "communist" tyranny murders a ton of citizens, the poorest of us, the minorities among us, and rebels who exercise free speech, are the most vulnerable. The USSR, China, North Korea, these governments oppress the people. The amount of evidence is STAGGERING. The denial is like Holocaust denial, particularly when there is specifically genocides involved.
IF socialism hinged on supporting governments like the USSR, socialism would be wrong. Luckily, it fucking doesn't. WE DO NOT NEED AUTHORITARIAN STATES.
Fuck tankies.

leftism would be a lot more efficient if people realized this: the working class and the lower class is not the same thing.
as a child, my family was middle class. dad made $100,000 nzd per year. we moved and bought a new house without renting at any point, simply so we would be in a convenient place closer to dads workplace. dad bought a $10,000 dollar motorbike just because he wanted to. we were well off and if we had better budgeting skills our family could save a million bucks by the time my parents retired.
we lost everything.
middle class people still need unions. they still need to deal with abusive bosses. they can still lose all that financial security just by divorcing the worker of the family or making a bad decision.
now im lower class, as are both my parents.
upper class people dont work. they are ceos, upper millionares, and billionares. people work for them and they dont answer to anyone. there is a huge difference between a very well paid worker (hollywood actors for instance) and a ceo who never has to negotiate his pay with a superior.
dont get it mixed up. an upper middle class person is not the same as the billionare who can buy his way into a goverment or fund a goverment to change the way the law works.
just because someone is well off does not mean you have no shared experiences. they may or may not be out of touch, but you should organize with those who also answer to a boss.
