The pilot watched the droid pace and sat with a growing tension at the pause. The next few words shot sparks through Poe’s nerves, his eyes hardening as the amusement vanished. “That isn’t his name,” he had to hold himself back as he spoke. He didn’t want to get upset and show Connor he had the upper hand but hearing that was something Poe had not expected. Alias. It made Poe’s blood begin to simmer in his veins. He is Finn, not a stormtrooper but a man with free will. It didn’t help as Connor came down to his eye level that it felt like he was a child being reprimanded by a persistent adult. He maintained eye contact while Connor spoke, his face as neutral as he could make it despite his anger.

“What coordinates?” Both words were spoken with a slight pause between them as if to say “bite me,” a hostile edge present that hadn’t been before. Connor had made it personal and was going to suffer the consequences. Finn was one of the only topics of conversation in which Poe struggled to maintain his mask of neutral disinterest, but it didn’t matter. Poe had the information. He was in control.

He was getting nowhere. Connor felt like he was chasing after a dog that was running in circles and the worst part was that he was blindly following along. He needed to cut in somehow -- the mention of the defected stormtrooper seemed to strike a nerve, he could try and use that to his advantage. He could threaten his safety, but what good would that do? Then Connor would be doing no better than his superiors when they tortured their captives. Of course, that is probably the method they’d rather he take, but torture is messy, long, and has only one outcome--an absolute last resort. Still, perhaps he could lean towards using the ex-stormtrooper in a more positive manner.

“I’m sorry, if I upset you that wasn’t my intention.” Connor apologized, coming back up to stand at his full height. “Finn and yourself, would you consider the two of you close?” He leaned back against the wall in front of Poe, crossing his arms as he had done at the start of the interrogation.
