I don't think people truly understand the gravity of Rafah being bombed.

There is nowhere left to go.

That is the only option

Many people will wonder now more than ever what "from the river to the sea" means and I'm here to provide a little bit of context

First of all, the phrase has been around since the 60s and was coined by the PLO not Hamas as some would love to claim.

Secondly, to explore what "free palestine from the river to the sea" means, we need to take a quick look at the past 75 years, during which israel had depopulated over 500 palestinian villages by killing and expelling the inhabitants of those villages and rendering them refugees. Following that, israel created what is called "the law of return" which resulted in prohibiting any of the expelled Palestinians to ever return to their home towns. Israel has also then started to implement systems that control the movement of the Palestinians that remained, control their economy, control their water and land, control who can marry who and even control their food intake.

So when the descendants of Palestinian refugees chant "from the river to the sea" what they are calling for is a palestine that is free from oppressive systems, a palestine whose land welcomes its inhabitants back, a palestine where everyone has equal rights, a palestine where the land with its indigenous plants and tree is allowed to flourish again, a land where Palestinians are allowed to visit the seaside; a free palestine.

So don't listen to some Lindsey Graham Cracker who has the nerve to call for genocide and carpet bombing besieged civilians but draws the line at a freedom chant.

A little girl died from hunger in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, despite being in the area where aid trucks are distributed. Another family in the north in Gaza city was forced to eat a donkey, which for many in Palestine is inconceivable culturally. Bisan says there isn't even water (clean OR dirty) for them to drink or wash with.

To this day people will cry over the knowledge and works destroyed when the library of Alexandria was burned down.

And yet no tears are shed as Palestinian archives and libraries are bombed.

Saint Porphyrius Church, built in 1150 and the 3rd oldest church in the world has been bombed.

It's not an accident.

Israel aren't simply killing Palestinians, they are trying to erase that there ever were Palestinians in the first place.

Destroying their livelihoods, trying to to destroy their culture and history and pretend this land was never there's.

It's easy to deny someone's existence when there's no record of them.

Which is why it's so important to look at the atrocities and bear witness to what's happening.

But to also recognise that Palestine is more than it's suffering.

There is a living breathing culture, of art, history, literacy which all come from the Palestinians.

Traditions they've carried for centuries.

So while we mourn the dead, we shall fight for the living. Fight for the preservation of their crafts, amplify their voices as they speak on their culture.

Palestinian history and culture is alive. And no matter how much the world wants to erase that, they cannot and will not.
