One of my favorite aspects of DarkHarvest00 is that you see the characters suffer in really, really realistic ways. In most series, the characters either don't have any noticeable financial or job insecurity and if you do, you still don't see the consequences of it too much. But in DH00, like. They lose their families out of nowhere and end up homeless. Actually homeless, with them counting the physical money they have down to the cent, eating food out of cans and sleeping in parks, like... that's one of the aspects of this kind of story that I feel is underutilized sometimes. The fact that you'd never be safe, that you'd have to keep moving, being paranoid, and the effect of that is you'd never really be able to just, pay your bills or have a job in the normal sense, especially at that age. 2014 Boiler Room fucked me up so bad for this reason, because outside of the circumstances (the order and whatnot) that's some real shit that can happen to people! I could get more into the realistic aspects of the series and why I like it so much, but this is one of my favorite parts of it. These guys all suffer, and I feel so fucking bad for them.

no but I'm thinking about how the dh tritagonists in that approx year of relative peace could have been figuring out how to live post everything at that point.

alex gets easily overstimulated since his catatonic episode, and he had a breakdown when one of the kids playing out in the street looked a little too much like his sister. heather for a while doesn't get solid sleep, because she always feels some sort of pain in that leg, as if at any moment it could get That Bad again. no matter how many times they assure her its not her fault things happened the way they did, she will sometimes feel such a deep guilt that it's debilitating. chris will lock all the doors and windows over and over just to be so sure they're locked. he will autopilot *hard* only to crash hard emotionally when he hits his limit, he can't really explain what in particular makes him do that, the events prior kind of just meld together.

but they always dim the lights and lower the volume when alex needs it. sleep comes easier for heather, as they figure out ways to manage the pain. they've found ways to snap chris out of it before it gets bad. they shoot the shit with eachother. they wait out the worst and make the best out of what theyve got. they talk like heather's family never did. their friendships deepen. they heal for a LITTLE BIT.

Wow I sure do love making Au’s after Au’s lol. I don’t have the energy to ramble about this Au rn but it’s a remake of this old mh Au I had and thats most of what you need to know rn and yes this entire page is just of searchdog Au besides my sona here and there okay anyway.

tim character animation practice! this took a lot longer than it shouldve

when first getting back into marble hornets last month a huge inspiration was the lovely @sickhoondr and their style of drawing the characters, so a huge thank you for the fantastic art 🐟 💙 and making me want to make these silly moving pictures

hopefully i can make more of these but this took a while HAHA
