Surprise tints his interactions with Agnes, as do with everyone he battled against those forsaken beasts with. Whatever sentiment against them he held before the endeavor had been tinted by respect and a level of camaraderie that he still cannot quite understand. Same as with Torsten, truly. Much of the judgement he held before had evaporated, leaving room for new opinions to grow. There is no doubt that he still holds some level of wariness in regards to Agnes, but he is more willing to give her the benefit of the doubt now than he was before.
“I am not quite sure,” he admits frankly, hesitatingly. He longs to travel back to Maferath to meet his mother, but after their last (and frankly disastrous) trip to the country… Well, he doesn’t think he will be able to leave unharmed if he is once more barred from entry from his home by the One God. That and… There is doubt growing on his heart, and he is not worthy to bask on His Light until his heart has been steadied once more. “Perhaps the border with Astoria, but I will check the contracts with the Warrior’s Guild before I do. Why do you ask? Do you need traveling companions?”

Agnes had no plans to leave Haven anytime soon, Freydis and Nyla were recovered, residing in Haven for the time being. She knew the two women were too spirited in this battle to rest for long, but at present Nyla would remain; still, the genasi felt best to make plans against the Dark no matter how infatuated it seemed with her. How often it tortured her and tried to rip her away from things which wrought light in her life. It was a choice she had made once before, something she would always have to live with, but that didn't mean the genasi would not fight like hell against it's cruel whims.
"Mikhael," not entirely surprised to see the cambion, but interested all the same; it'd been quite some time since they all battled against the forsaken creatures that needed to be slain. "Where next will your plans bring you now that Arishok has been defeated?" She knew the conflict at the Astorian border still rallied on, but there was deep inquietude within the genasi at the idea of going near her former home.

There is a heady relief at the realization that the conflict with the Kossith had ended without too much bloodshed, as well as a growing sense of admiration for the Lycan Queen and her determination to protect her people. Weeks of tension evaporate in an instant as Queen Aurea raises her fist to the sky, and he joins the cheers as the celebrations begin. There is still work to be done, with countless people still missing, but for a moment he allows to feel some sense of relief. The smile on his face grows, only to stop on his tracks as he begins blinking in mild surprise as he is recognized. Turning his head from one way to the other, he stops in his tracks when he recognizes a face amidst the crowd.
“The mysterious stranger that never did introduce himself,” Mikhael says back in greeting, an eyebrow raised in surprise at seeing the other in Haven of all places. Perhaps there is a bit of a confused blush on his cheeks, but who is to tell? All that is is that Mikhael doesn’t quite know if the other is complimenting him or not. “What brings you to Haven?”

The moment Arishok fell, slain brutally by the Feronia Queen, Theon was drifting away with the crowd. Contractually, and morally, obligated to be a nuisance, however, Theon stopped at a similar face, shaking his head. Time was of the essence, throughout all his own channels of connections and shady contacts, even Theon could not locate a ship that was proven to be drenched in technology to keep it obscured forever if the Kossith wished. But as Kossathi blood drenched the grass and dirt of Haven, there had been a whisper of a wreckage and Theon could only aspire to accomplish what he'd promised to do; something rare of the incubus, to keep a promise, to see it through.
"The bleeding heart of Maferath, we meet again." With such a title, Theon would hardly forget Mikhael, but he had not expected to see the Warrior's Guild mercenary again.

“Thank you for your help,” Mikhael ends up thanking the somewhat unhelpful stranger, gaze flickering towards the general direction he was pointing. A thoughtful hum escapes his lips as he tries to bring up a mental map of the area. If he remembers correctly, the meeting hall is in that direction. Hopefully there will be someone who knows more about the whole process that way. He makes it a couple of steps, before remembering his manners and turning to face the stranger once more. Regardless of how curt he seemed, they are both here to fight for Haven and he has to respect that much.
“It’s nice to meet you,” he offers a brief smile. “My name is Mikhael, hopefully we will see each other around.”

"I'm just helping here, so I don't know. Maybe look for the ones with muscles and not the ones with pointed ear," he pointed to his own ears that indicated he was clearly elvhen. Perhaps that was a bit harsh but this deamonfey of despair wasn't exactly known to be friendly. "Well, over there somewhere." he waved his hand in a vague direction. Lyklor didn't want to make friends, let his aura seep into others. So the quicker he could shew them away the better.

“Now you are laying it a bit thick,” he says with a laugh, shaking his head good naturedly to the elvhen. Perhaps they had been closer than he had thought, because despite it all, Mikhael is feeling comfortable around his former employer. Some of his usual stiffness is gone, and despite his current doubt of self-doubts, he feels lighter as they speak than he had felt in a while. Even when their topic of conversation isn’t necessarily the most light or comfortable. Perhaps it’s the fact that he knows where the silver elve stands, knows him as a former employer and as a refugee. Or maybe whatever hells they went together through their journey away from Iskaldrik broke some of the ice that had been present before the fall of the country. “And I wish you safety. Things are not simple on this day and age, and we all need some level of safety as it is.”
Tumblr media
"Yes, everything you do tends to be driven as very laudable," Mikhael seemed rather pleased at this obvious read, so Auri didn't wish to knock the cambion down from this high. "I wish you good fortune on your journey, but this may be the last we see each other till the tides shift," Auri wasn't about to step foot in Haven, despite all the wolves had done when it came to welcoming the Iskaran's when none else would. They'd always been a rather selfish creature and none of the more hospitable oaths of the elvhen laws could ever change that about Auri. He wondered if his father's nurture, or lack thereof, had warped him enough to stray from what was expected or if he'd been simply born polluted with the decay of humanity, doomed to wander from the great tree and fizzle out with no family nor namesake to claim.

“Do you know where I can find them?” He asks, eyes flicking around as he considers the empty space. There is a great deal less people than there were back when he first found a refuge in Haven. It makes sense for Queen Aurea to be evacuating, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is a heavy thing to see it changed from what it was when it welcomed them all openly when no one else did. Haven had been kind to them, despite the majority of their group hailing from the country that would have sooner seen them dead than freed. “Forgive me for my questions, I just got here and I don’t know where people are gathering.”
Tumblr media
Lyklor had been within the haven for a few days now. And he’d been given a few tasks. Nothing of importance, it mostly consisted of manual labour. But even through it all he had tried to keep to himself still feeling like his presence here was only going to ruin the chances of what everyone here was ready to fight for. He couldn’t give them hope… couldn’t help them in that manner. Maybe… maybe he could give the kossith reason to pause but self defeating as always he doubted that. “You should talk to one of the wolves. It’s their home.” He wasn’t going to speak for them.

Who? @despairlyklor where? Haven
Haven is different to how he remembers it. The streets remain the same, he is sure of that, but the air is more somber, almost strained. It makes sense, considering the looming thread standing above them all, and getting closer by the minute, but it is as much a punch in the gut as a reminder of what it’s at stake. If Haven falls, hundreds will lose their homes, just as they had in Aventia, and despite not being Lysaran, Mikhael would not wish that fate on anyone. Looking around the village, his eyes on a stranger who seems more settled than himself, and he approaches.
“Apologies, is there a place I need to announce myself if I came to aid against the Kossith, or would my presence alone suffice?”

“So I am that obvious, huh?” He asks, a lip curling into a light smirk at Auri’s reaction. It’s not much of a surprise to realize he is predictable, not when he has always stuck to his own morals and has refused to budge despite everything the world had thrown his way. He wanted to help, maybe to make up for the sin of being born, but he wanted to help. Desperately. Most of the time, he can supplement his desire to help with his bounties, but this time? This time he was doing it just because it seemed like the right thing to do. “I care for him, yes, but it's more than that. Haven welcomed us freely when we needed it, so I want to return the favor if I could.”
Tumblr media
"Ah," it was all Ari said at first, snippy as ever, but the elvhen eventually elaborated curtly, "Of course you're going there." Mikhael was always very white-knight, broody type; if the Kossith took Haven, it'd only be a matter of time before they advanced further into the spoils of Eterna, taking the Queendom brick by brick. Perhaps it was a kinder approach than what the Aetherian mages had done, having simply torched Iskaldrik and everything within to smithereens. "And you care enough of this human to put yourself on the line?" Auri didn't favor the idea of showing his own worry, but he'd already lost most of his coin, had to build his business up from scraps, and would likely crash out if the Kossith managed to force him to start over yet again. If ever his father, one of the Sinarian Seven, were to do anything with his spoils, now would be the time, though Auri knew no aid to him would ever come from the man.

“They are.” His words are grim, lips pressing together as he looks around with a careful eye. Danger is closer than ever, the pressure on their shoulders making him hyperparanoid as he looks around. With Lysara in danger from the Kossith and the darkspawn, it seems like the stakes are impossibly high, and despite how much he tries, it is becoming harder and harder to find His Light amidst all the darkness. Mikhael will not stop looking for His Will, for His Light, but he worries that he will never find it. “But that doesn’t mean they will not return.”
Tumblr media
Person: @blightedmikhael Location: Travelin' "They're all leaving, aren't they?" Mikhael, like a lot of people she knew, was going towards Haven and if Deja weren't on some kind of personal mission, she'd go with. But their paths will diverge at some point in their journey, he'd go to Haven and she'd....Desperately try to get ahold of this Fyren person. It was for the people of Haven though, for all of them in Lysara, if she could find something in a vision or a dream that would help them all, she'd be really doing something.

“Nothing at the moment, aside from preparing to travel to Haven,” he admits with a wave of his hand as he takes a long drink from his tankard. He had heard the Kossith were going in that direction, and after all the support Queen Aurea had given the refugees, the least he could do was offer his spear to aid them on the battle that was on the horizon. The very least, truly, as they had failed so terribly on their trip to Ankhuria. With the God King refusing aid, Haven will need all the help they can get. “Different and more threatening, for they do not stop even at those without magic. I believe a human member of my guild was taken.”
Tumblr media
"Why, what's going on with you?" Auri would rather avoid admitting he had any worry towards these Kossith, but he'd not seen his aunt at her shop and grew more worried with each passing day. "They're quite different from witchers, indeed," though for all their time within Iskaldrik, Auri had thankfully avoided any true threat when it came to the witchers; back then, he'd had enough gold to pay off anyone to deal with the problem, but now the silver elvhen was, in a way, on his own as the well of riches ran dry.

“Your first name would still remain the same,” he muttered with a roll of his eyes as he stood a few feet from Hector, a reproachful frown on his face. He has enough of a vague awareness of the city layout to know that Veil of Veins is close by, and despite the horrific events that recently took place in Aventia, there should still be enough people out and about that openly fighting the strigoi would likely be a bad idea. And even without the logic of it all, Mikhael was tired. He had fought for his life next to this man, trying to get his God to listen to his pleas and help Lysara and yet all he had gained from his efforts was heartache and the seeds of doubt. Seeds that only grew as they returned to Lysara only to find the news that the Kossith were moving against Haven.
He knew he needed to go to Haven, for the town had aided refugees when they had arrived in Lysara. He owed them a debt that ought to be repaid. Still, he had taken the contract to hunt down Hector so at the very least he could try to gather more information about the man for the next time they saw each other. “Why did you join the expedition anyway? It’s not like there was a high monetary reward for you.”
Tumblr media
Returning from the desert, Hector made a quick return to the Veil of Veins. Famished did not begin to describe the condition in which he returned there. He struggled to keep his mouth closed anytime the whiff of a warm blooded creature. Throughout his entire journey back, Hector struggled to stop himself from baring his fangs at every exposed throat he caught his eyes on. Once he had his hands and lips wrapped around a cup full of his sanguine delicacy, Hector could feel the tension immediately subsides. Holing up near the bar until he drank himself drunk, making up for the strigoi's missed feeding days. Spending the next few days on a blood bender, Hector had hoped the treasure they rescued from that tomb had been worth it.
Though it was not all bad, Hector had at least the chance to meet some new people. Mikhael from Maferath being one of them. From what he gathered, he was a nice man, though their pastimes may conflict with each other. "I've given a lot more for less." He leans against the wall next to them, "And weren't you there, you saw how hard I tried to have my last name changed." He adds, chuckling as he raises his hat up slightly.

who? @hectorthefollower where? Idk da:™: streets of Eterna when? After their failed quest
Tumblr media
Returning from Ankhuria empty handed left a rather sour taste on Mikhael’s mouth. A taste that he could not get rid of no matter how much he tried. Questions echoed in his head as he worshipped His Lord and His Light, and he wondered, for the first time, about what drove the Great Baal to act as he did. Saying he was conflicted was an understatement, and saying that he wanted to forget the whole trip was as well. So the sourness persisted.
And then.
Then it grew stronger as he opened his next contract and he found Hector’s face staring back at him. Now, Mikhael had admittedly realized the cowboy wannabe was slightly shady on their trip, but he hadn’t realized that meant there was a bounty on his head.
“You know,” he comments, a few days after being assigned the contract, and after he had managed to find Hector in Eterna. “You probably shouldn’t be giving people your name if you are a wanted man.”
