We're tired. It's been a year of intense work, intense game launches and a lot of feelings. So we're going to take a few weeks off to recover and enjoy July!

why did you guys drop longstory 2 so quietly? even your discord server is pretty inactive :(

Honestly we are very tired. I (the CEO Miriam) decided we would follow up the launch our game with Disney (Disney Villains Cursed Cafe), by Launching LongStory 2 and then we could use the lift from Disney Villains Cursed Cafe.

On paper it looked smart. In practice it was very dumb. The Disney Villains Launch was not a success and that had a knock on effect to our team, we ended up having to lay off a bunch of people and it has been a real struggle just to get LongStory 2 finished and out the door let alone marketed. I tried my very best to be upbeat and stay on top of things and keep the energy going around the launch but i'll be honest I am so tired and when it is a small company and the CEO is tired. There is not much gas left in the tank then.

The current plan is that I am going to take a full month off. I haven't really had a mental break in about 3 years so it is necessary. I hope when I get back I'll have some energy and a bit more spring in my step.

I have been really enjoying the response to the game so far. Some people are understandably upset that it feels shorter than the first game. It is shorter is some respects. But also there is more branching so that makes for a different experience on a playthrough.

We are all a bit surprised that people found the OPs snarky relationship with mom such a bummer. We should have tested more with players and we could have softened that up. We thought it was accurate about how relationships become a bit more rocky with our parents as we age but I guess some folks didn't have that experience :D

Anyways, give us a month, we'll be back in August and there are still many platforms to launch for LongStory 2 ;D

One thing to note: Due to human resources being very stretched we are not opening our community discord 24/7 check the schedule above for times it will be moderated and open for chat.

One thing I could definitely use help on. The website is "finished" now. As in I have no more time to mess around, but I had to do a big overhaul of our top navigation because it was too long. If you are sitting around today with some time on your hands. PLEASE send me any 404s you get to in our site. I am sure there is a service that can check for dead links too, but I have been out of the game too long to know how to do that.

Tonight all I will say to anybody inclined to listen: If you decide in 2014 that it would be good to just have a static website and then 10 years later your CSS style sheet is 1400 lines long for what is essentially a 6 page mini-site that has almost nothing in it. You know who you have to blame?? (Answer: yourself)

What will LS2's price be?

LongStory 2 will launch at $14.99 and be available as part of a game bundle on Steam and Itch at a 20% discount. We won't discount the standalone sequel until winter but if you have a friend who has never played now is the time to split the price of a bundle with them!!

I spent SO LONG playing the game trying to get the storyline with Gaston and the teeth. It's magical (like literal magic and also chef's kiss of writing) and I only ever got to read it in the script.

I talk about not liking the dumbification of Gaston, but this is legitimatelymy favorite gag in the whole game. I think about it CONSTANTLY.

I was wondering if LongStory 2 would be coming to the Switch as well or will the sequel only be available on itch.io and Steam?

We are definitely planning to release the game on Switch, and IOS. (Android is .... We're not so sure)

The issue is that we are using a brand new game engine and will have to write the code that connects the engine to the Nintendo SDK ourselves, or in partnership with other folks wanting the same tech.

The beauty of open source is that many people can work on the same stuff, but we need to get organized and probably find some money first. As soon as we have a roadmap for that I will talk about it here and start making ambitious release promises that our tech director will have to refute.
