uhh so cool thing happened today, my boss's boss's boss came out to the annual house today to thank me for my hard work and said "in all my years of working here the plants in this greenhouse have never looked this good, and [boss] said it's all because of you!" apparently ive significantly cut down on their plant losses and my boss has been talking me up to everyone bc as she said this year is the "first year she hasnt been stressed about the annuals"
it feels nice to be appreciated.

Oh my goodness it was so cool to see all these orchids. Vandas, Dendrobium, oncidiums, Phalaenopsis and ones the owner hybridized herself in laboratory. It was absurdly fun.

thinking ab that time my boss wanted me to grab a plant id never heard of before and when i asked her to describe it she said "its a flowering plant" and upon realizing she had just described 85% of the plants we have, she amended with "it has green leaves" and i was like "ok thanks that narrows it down significantly /s" and ended up just looking at the tags instead

we get a lot of these as "weeds" (unintentionally grown) in the cracks of concrete and in the gravel in our greenhouse!! they also used to show up from time to time at the old plant store i worked at. they're incredibly resilient little guys! it always makes me happy to see them

Bird's Foot Violet
Viola pedata
Named after its leaves which resemble a bird's foot... This gorgeous violet is native to a large portion of eastern North America and thrives in sandy areas, rocky slopes, and other sunny, very well-drained habitats that are undisturbed. Three different color varieties can be found in the wild; bicolor (pictured above), lilac, and white. I have found both the bicolor and solid lilac varieties in abundance within glades and some prairies here in Missouri. Additionally, this species hosts fritillary butterfly larvae and provides nectar to many other butterflies and bees.

happy earth day!! 鈾伙笍馃寧
remember, if you're going to do ecoterrorism, buy some seeds of the native plants in your area- dont use the wildflower seed packs from big box stores. you could be introducing invasive plants into your area which would actually be terrorizing your ecosystem
today is a good day to go out and appreciate the native flowers that are coming into bloom!! i have a lot of goldenrod where i live and i think its so beautiful when i see it actually get to thrive 馃尶馃尰
