Not sure when the next chapter will be out. The good news is that most of it is done. But there's a decent chance that I'll need to adjust a couple of things in it based on how the following chapter turns out, so I need to have more of that finished before I can make an update. It's still going quite slow because my available time for writing is tiny. And to be clear, this isn't just because of work and other stressful things! Ya girl is just booked and busy.

My goal is to have the whole story published by September. Which is going to be very hard to accomplish, and will probably involve me needing a much more strict writing schedule. But I am going to try!

Quick fic update for those following along: I mentioned in my last chapter that I was hoping to have at least one more published by the end of the season. I can now say definitively that that is not going to happen. I have had zero time to write since posting the last chapter, which I was not expecting. And to be honest, things have gotten extremely negative over the last week. I don't have any interest in being part of it at all, so I'll probably take a little time to just not engage.

The fic is still getting finished, and my hope is still to have it entirely published before next season starts. Luckily I've been able to set aside a bunch of writing time that will be coming up soon. But yeah, not in the headspace for it currently.

Oh, this is such a hard question to answer without the fic being fully published! Please ask this again when it's all done because I will probably write just as many words talking about the background stuff as I did actually telling the story.

A few things I can share:

I have a lot of favorite scenes, but my go to is always the car scene in chapter 3. It's just so them.

The easiest character for me to write is probably Robbo. Though honestly, it's not that difficult to get in the headspace of any of the Liverpool characters. The England national team characters, on the other hand...impossible.

I have both an "official" fic playlist containing all the chapter titles and song references (which will all be shouted out when this thing is done!) and an "unofficial" playlist of songs that remind me of them/the story. It is extremely 🔥 and is maybe my most listened to playlist on my entire Spotify account.

There have been quite a lot of changes to this story since I first came up with it. But the main points have all been more or less the same since the whole outline finalized, with one major exception. I won't be able to reveal what that is until after it's all published. 👀

Some potential bits I abandoned early were a whole side plot with Erling Haaland and a cat, Harvey Elliott getting his driver's license, and Perrie from Little Mix getting very invested in Trent's whole deal.

I have, without exaggeration, probably close to a hundred Google docs for this story.

I’ve split the next chapter into two, which is why the total chapter count for the story went from 9 to 10. The first part (what is now chapter 7) is almost entirely done. But I likely won’t publish it until the second part (now chapter 8) is mostly finished, so I can make edits as needed.

As for when they’ll be out, I’m not sure. I’ve had a busy week and haven’t had any time to write at all since I published chapter 6. It all really depends on how much time I’m able to carve out, but I’m aiming for another update by the end of the season. Hopefully I can make that doable!

I don’t think I’m going to file a complaint, since I purposefully keep this tumblr and my ao3 account separate from my personal info. But I’m extremely upset about this; I work very hard on my writing and share it because I love the fic community. To have it stolen for GenAI profit is disgusting. I knew this was a risk when I decided not to lock my fics but it still sucks.

I will likely be locking my fics soon. So if you want to continue reading and don’t have an AO3 account, I would recommend you make one.

Also, please don’t fucking use AI unless you need to. It’s not possible to avoid it entirely, especially in many professions, and there are some genuine benefits that it has when used appropriately. But don’t use it for anything that doesn’t require it, and for the love of god don’t use it to create or edit art. Its entire business model is theft.

As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.
