I admit to being very torn about what Rowling recently said, seemingly agreeing to the ban of the word "cisgender". I never stood against her, and I've been trying to be open-minded about her criticisms of the way trans issues are being handled, and think she has some points on that front. But her whole argument has been that TRAs are squashing free speech. So... isn't banning a word on a public platform, albeit one she disagrees with, ALSO squashing free speech? By her definition, "woke" or "gender critical" are ALSO ideological terms, which could also easily be banned from the platform. Or ANY platform. Doesn't this go beyond the right to disagree? Isn't this similar to banning the word "straight", which can also be used hatefully but more often isn't ? Isn't this a slippery slope to be going down? I would think, if she is really committed to free speech in debate and not trying to be hateful, she would be shooting Musk's ban down, no matter how much she disagrees with the word itself. I want to believe in her. But this feels off to me. I'm sort of afraid she's getting swayed by some of the more extreme voices in the debate, the ones who are more hateful than reasonable.
Anon if you're still here, sorry for taking so long to answer this, I've been away for over a month...and also, sorry for not having a great answer to your comment, but it's just that... I don't think JKR was supporting the ban of "cisgender" at all??? I remember her tweets about this, and what I understood is she was just affirming that cisgender is an ideological term and not a "neutral" one...she never said it should be banned 🤷🏻‍♀️

Genuine question, because I'm intrigued. I'm a pan/bisexual ciswoman and grew up in a conservative christian environment (now I'm an atheist), and when going through your blog, I find many things I relate to and agree with regarding femininity, misogyny, patriarchy and the like. I've gone through life frustrated at how people wants you to conform to femininity to be considered "woman", hated the color pink as a child because "pink is feminine and femininity = weakness" in the patriarchal society, that women HAVE to birth a child to be considered women, and generally been frustrated at how men are brought up in society.
However, I never ended up having a negative view or attitude against nonbinary people or transpeople, but going through your blog I'm picking up that vibe, so to say. So, I'm curious to what have led you into that direction. Is it something you grew up with, lack of exposure to said people, did your way of thinking emerge from the internet? In other words, how did you reach your standpoint and opinions?
I'm not here to change anyone's mind, I only seek out knowledge and to understand. I study humanities and have a deep interest in cultural analysis and Queer studies, and I find it fascinating to hear/read people's reasonings to their opinions. I'd glady appreciate any answers.
Women and girls having acid thrown in their faces, their genitals mutilated in my country esp, their access to healthcare and education barred, femicide being so high that we lose a woman or girl to it every 11 minutes, girls being kept as sex slaves by the taliban, 10 year old girls being forced to carry their rapists baby in America, 1 in 4 black women being sexually abused before the age of 18 in America, Kenyan women having their limbs cut off by their husbands and the police being too corrupt to even separate them, let alone punish him, 80% of sexual abuse victims being girls, anorexia being the most deadly of mental illness and most female, catcalling at its peak reported when girls are prepubescent, porn flaunting their trafficking, rape, and torture of women and children, the most famous and “successful” major porn stars coming out as rape victims and surviving physical and sexual torture … while most young men around the world are using porn as a learning device for sex, serial killers brutalizing women and children and true crime YouTubers and podcast hosts laughing and stuffing their faces talking about the worst atrocities to happen to innocent little girls, American soldiers committing atrocities against iraqi girls with zero punishment, Iranian women being beaten, raped, and killed for daring to show their hair, American native women going missing and unspeakable torture happening to them as they die alone while everyone in America turns a blind fucking eye…
But yes, the rich white men in wigs, let’s focus on them, and validating their fetish. Despite there being zero evidence of a trans genocide, and statistics proving over and over again that more trans identified males killed women last year than actually were killed themselves, and zero hate crimes reported by these so called “evil terfs”… yes. Let’s throw away all definitions and legal protections and feminist organizing and close all events and throw away every attempt we’ve made thus far of stopping the oppression of women. Thank you white leftist, my white knight in shining armor, you are so intelligent and smart ❤️ I’m a stupid desert dwelling imbecile, who must be educated by the oh so academic and intellectual white “progressive” 😔
So much smarter than me, a stupid Arab woman who has lost her way😔 Astagfirallah, I haven’t gone to a liberal arts college and sat around discussing 50 micro niche labels to coddle narcissistic and spoiled Americans who’s biggest trauma has been their pet goldfish dying. I must’ve gotten my way of thinking from the internet, just like all of these horrible African and Korean “terfs” popping up now too. You call Laetitia Ky and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie terfs, while your hands are sticky with Cheeto dust as you hunch over your laptop drooling, watching breadtube video essays discussing the inherent transmisogyny Neofascist demisexualphobic nature of Steven universe episode #194.
You are the TRUE knower of oppression, for you lazily reblog infographics on insta twitter, and reblog black excellence posts once a month… so you can now tell us what the real and true feminism is. Thank you for your service, I’ll be sure to visit your Etsy shop and buy all of your voltron or Hamilton or genshin impact porn🫡 Mashallah🤲🏻

There's nothing in this world that you could do that would convince me that this new Harry Potter show is not some missguised attempt to combat what will certainly be an extroudinarly popular and profitable Percy Jackson adaptation on Disney+.

I came back just for the delusional PJ fandom posts
The Harry Potter reboot!
I will say this!
They are only making this reboot now because the first season of PJO will drop soon and they are afraid that it will be more popular than Harry Potter(which, let’s be real it is). It is constructed and written waaay better than the the wizarding world.
This is only fear of what the success of the work of Rick Riordan will do for their franchise

In other news that no one asked me about, I regret to inform that my heterosexuality has been reinforced after seeing Austin Butler's performance in Elvis.
But seriously, what the hell, man? Could you've been more perfect in the part? I've been obssessed with it for 2 months.

To be fair, I see that good old Megan has come into contact with radblr and is using her autistic card to perform her unhingedness, and I always find it entertaining everytime she pretends to have been *triggered* because someone dismantles her "arguments".
I wonder how many days she'll spend this time rebloging the same post and obssessing over the people who've contradicted her.
Me: *4 months away from tumblr*
Me: "Ok, let's see if there's something interesting happening on radblr"
Me: *logs in and sees the phrase "blorbo gerontophile yaoi discourse on radblr"*
Me: *logs off*

completely untested theory but
i think social media not only has eroded ideas of privacy (”if you have nothing to hide why do you care?”), but in a much more harmful way it promotes the notion that there should be no difference between public thoughts and private behaviour. But this is totally bogus because people behave differently according to different situations, and this isn’t being “fake”, it’s just what navigating social situations in a proficient manner is like.
The way I behave with my friends and my family, the way I behave in private, is not for public consumption. Nor should it be. Publicness is a matter of choice, it shouldn’t be mandatory. People are not entitled to anyone’s private thoughts on anything. People have a right to decide what they wish to show in public and what they wish to hide.

Why is it that 99% of the time I see a gc/radfem that seems like an asshole, she's from the US or Canada? For fucks sake, get a grip.
You're just as prone to tribalism, groupthink and clownery as TRAs.

Next Saturday I have an excuse to keep staring at Doctor Strange for 2 hours straight in a big screen and enjoy a movie without having to worry about the behind the scenes and fandom drama. Life's not so bad when you're a casual fan 💅
