BARRISS ISNT EVIL!!!! i know the people i surround myself with believe the same thing but like whenever i stick my head outside the little corner i immediately back tf up- Also like; Barriss is literally a lesbian. i regret nothing

hmmm im trying to think. I mean me a while ago would probably have thought barrissoka was considered unpopular but considering it made it to the final round of the best sapphic star wars ship, i would say its not as unknown as i would have thought tbh. SO HONESTLYYYYYYYY maybe luminara/obi wan! honestly i was never a huge fan but @jedimasterbailey kinda got me on that train! again im not super dedicated(because barrissoka takes up my brain space) but i definitely think its cute now.

WIP Wednesday

I am almost ready to post another chapter of Dissonance and Upheaval, my first contact AU. I'm thinking of pushing a scene into the next chapter to make it less complicated. Here's a sample.

  Ahsoka guided them through valleys and canyons, then there was a huge expanse of rolling chaparral hills. She tried to skirt the edge of the desert here, or areas that wildfires had cleared out so they would not get hemmed in by the shrubs. Scraped by their thorns. She made note of the local flora and fauna as they went. She particularly took interest in the sand crabs. They had dome-like carapaces and many legs they used to sift the sands for food which led beautiful corrugated trails zigzagging across the landscape. 

  Barriss was quiet at first. Ahsoka assumed she was quietly praying and she gave her as much privacy as possible while still bracing her to her chest with one hand. When they stopped for a midday meal Ahsoka tossed some scraps to that blackbird that was still following them. It hopped in the air to snatch the food, its long tail trailing behind it. Some birds had little pinion fingers and talons on their wings and lizard-like tails.

  After their midday meal and Barriss’ prayers they got underway, leading their mount down a dry river bed. Ahsoka could tell that Barriss was despondent about something. She rubbed carefully where she held her in place just below her ribs.

  “How are you feeling?” Ahsoka asked.

  “Like I need a distraction.” She replied, and continued after a brief pause. “Ahsoka, you love me?”

  “I am devoted to you, as your sun is to providing light and heat.” She answered.

  “Would you do anything for me?” Barriss asked.

  “I would move mountains stone by stone, my love.” She answered.

  “You want to marry me.” This was more of a statement.

  “That I do.”

  Barriss leaned back against her more pronouncedly. Ahsoka could feel trepidation wriggling inside her being.

  “Then could you tell me about your childhood? I’ve told you so much about my family and my life here on Mirial, and I know hardly anything about your past. I want to learn everything about you, Asoka. Please?” 

  Ahsoka grumbled deep in her belly. She couldn’t help it.

  Barriss continued. “I understand it is a sore subject, my dear. I’ve tried to be patient. But I need to keep my mind active right now and I cannot defer my curiosity anymore.” She hesitated. “We are to be married, Ahsoka. In our belief that is alike to having your soul cleft in two and fuzed for all time. A little of you will be me, and a little of me will be you. Do you understand? I have clear eyes on who you are now. But I want to know where you have been. What you have seen. Who you were. Where fate found you and led you to here. Into my arms.”

  Ahsoka closed her eyes and just felt Barriss’ weight against her chest and the movement of the beast below her for a second. 

  “You are right, of course. I have been too indulgent of my grief. Now that I have accepted that Mirial will be my home, and now that I want it to be my home, I should accept that my past is in the past and it would be freeing to tell you. And more of a burden to keep it hidden.”

  Ahsoka’s keen hearing could pick up the slight clicking sound of Barriss smiling, the corners of her lips pulling back to show her teeth. 

  “Good. Could you please begin at the beginning?” She asked.

  “That is often the best place to start.” Ahsoka conceded. She took a deep breath. “My mother was a huntress."

It was even brought up that that relationship in general would destroy them but she kind of set that into motion. but also in her defense she thought they were gonna die in that arena so. hmm, to be completely honest i am rarely involved in the regular star wars fandom outside of the barrissoka/barriss tumblr corner LMAO. buuuut i know that the theory of Barriss being the 7th sister was a big one for a while but i never agreed with it to be honest. i apologize my mind is like stuck on barriss right now so its so hard to think outside of that HAHA 💛: What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?

Okay look i know its canon but like. Cal and Merrin i just can't rlly get behind it! I don't have a huuuge problem with it, its just like ok. Before jedi survivor came out, i and many other people had the firm belief that Merrin is a lesbian, and Cal is gay, so when i saw them get together i was like "oh!" but again. thats a personal thing for me and i totally get where people come from with the ship! Cuz okay i have ships i despise but this is not one of them, im pretty neutral to the fact it exists yk?

Girls in my little fantasy au I was working on

Okay, two weeks to go, putting my cards on the table: there is no way in hell that Barriss is going to be an Inquisitor. That's not what this is. Everyone’s taking for granted that because the trailer sets up her training as an Inquisitor that means that we’re seeing a corruption arc for her, but just. Look at her. There is not a single frame of this trailer where she is not visibly looking for the exit. There is not a single frame of this trailer where she isn’t either visibly masking what she’s feeling or just looking determined to survive. This isn’t a start of darkness; it’s Ahsoka getting hunted for sport in Padawan Lost.

We aren’t doing the “we’re setting Barriss up as an Inquisitor so we can give her a redemption arc later” scenario. This is the redemption arc, this is her facing an in-universe attempt to force her into the fanon Inquisitor!Barriss mold that she doesn’t fit into at all, and she’s going to prove it and she’s going to outsmart all of these actual fallen Jedi she’s surrounded by who are trying to make her be like them. When Order 66 happened, Barriss was sitting defenseless in a cell and was offered a series of choices that weren’t real choices. But she knows that, she is not buying into it, and that offers her one, incredibly dangerous route to freedom: convincing them to trust her enough to send her into the field with a lightsaber.

It’s going to be rough, it’s going to be an incredibly dangerous, difficult path for her to navigate—they will make her do some messed up stuff to prove herself and for a moment it might look like she's given into despair—but she’s going to come out the other end of this miniseries having rejected both the Empire and the dark side. Not only as a Jedi in every way that matters but also as someone who is equipped with knowledge of how the Inquisitorius operates, which she can use to save as many people as she can from them—because she knows what happens when they take you alive.

And she's going to do it all onscreen in a story that is about her, she is the main protagonist here, and that is frankly something that was beyond my wildest dreams.

This isn’t wishful thinking on my part, this isn’t me trying to do a preemptive rewrite—this is me looking at what’s onscreen in this trailer, at what they’re telling us, at what they’re not telling us, and seeing the story laid out in front of us.

The only way out is through.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Everyone talks about how barriss offee deeply affected ahsokas life after the jedi bombing incident but I’m honestly more interested in how luminara would have felt

Luminara’s reaction to barriss falling was never shown to the audience so it leaves a lot to the imagination. I feel like after that whole incident luminara would just shut down.

In the books barriss was like a daughter she never had. She might’ve not shown it much esp in the geonosian infiltration episode but I feel as if years later she would have acknowleged what barriss was to her.

I feel like the infiltration episode kinda cemented barriss not opening up to luminara about her doubts and trauma about the war. Barriss was the gifted kid that had no idea what to do when faced with the reality of war. She was a healer for fucks sake but instead she was forced to take a sword and fight for her life.

It’s not entirely luminara’s fault for not noticing how barriss was acting before the whole temple bombing incident. She was a general and if her student said she was fine she would’ve believed her.

I feel like after barriss conviction luminara would have completely shut down. She wouldn’t take on another apprentice cuz she opened her heart to barriss only to be heartbroken. At this point it would not be surprising if she just continued the war being a shell of her former self. Constantly reminded of not being able to cater to barriss needs and wants.

I feel like she’d do a padme and the grief over barriss would just make her give up esp when order 66 happens. I feel like she would have sensed the clones turning on her like yoda but instead of fighting back she’d willingly give up
