you roll your eyes and let out a soft laugh, meticulously dragging the vivid ink along the outer corners of his eyes. "you say that every time, dummy."

he hisses, "and i mean it every time!"

"finee, i guess i'll just get off my pretty boyfriend's lap because he doesn't want me to—"

"absolutely not," he scoffs and tightens his hold on you, flipping open the compact mirror in his other hand before bringing it closer to his eye.

scaramouche blinks slowly, scowls, then throws the mirror on the bed and snaps his head to the side in embarrassment.

"ugh...i guess you're not completely hopeless after all," he murmurs under his breath with a hint of shame. "but don't misunderstand and get ahead of yourself, you arrogant fool! i'm still way better at this than you are, okay!?"

you lay in bed, tossing and turning uncomfortably as the mattress groaned noiselessly beneath you. your restless eyes wander around the room ceaselessly until they settle on aventurine, whose sleeping figure was illuminated only by the gentle glow of moonlight peeking through the curtain. he was sleeping with his body turned away from you, his side rising and falling with every soft breath he took.

you sighed, hugging your plushy pillow tightly as you fixed your gaze at the ceiling above. “are you asleep?”

your soft spoken voice lingered in the air. after a few moments of silence, you closed your heavy eyelids firmly— you hadn’t expected him to be awake anyway. 

but suddenly, you feel a small shuffle beside you, followed by a low, raspy grunt. the gambler’s voice was barely audible under the sound of the rustling fabric. “...no,” he murmured.

“yeah, i know, i know— wait what?!” your eyes fluttered open, and you turned your head to meet your boyfriend’s gaze. he was now facing you, barely awake and blinking sleepily. “b-baby, you’re awake?!” you exclaimed, inching closer to him. “how long have you been awake?!”

“for quite a while now,” he yawns quietly, “i heard you moving around and felt you kicking your feet.” aventurine rubs his eyes and blinks a few times, trying to focus on you in the dim light.

you couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt in your heart for disturbing his sleep, especially considering how busy he’s been these days. “i’m sorry, rine…”

a playful smile forms on his lips, and he beckons you to come even closer as his hand reaches out to gently stroke your cheek. “you know, i’ve heard that lying on your boyfriend’s chest can help you fall asleep faster.”

your eyes widen and you look at him with a surprised expression before giggling softly, “oh, is that so?” you teased, “in that case, i think i should give it a try.”

“mmh,” he grumbles softly, lifting you effortlessly onto his chest. you quickly nuzzled your face into his neck, your arms resting on either side of his body. aventurine pressed a chaste kiss on your head before combing his fingers through your hair with one arm draped around you.

“so warm…” your voice muffled against his chest. you close your eyes slowly at the soothing gesture of his fingers, which was gradually lulling you to sleep.

“it feels great doesn’t it, y/n?” he asks quietly, his other arm running up and down your back. “are you comfortable?”

he waits for a response but pauses once he notices the steady rise and fall of your breath. “...y/n?”

his eyebrows knit together, groaning when he takes sight of your peaceful sleeping state. “seriously… now i’m awake?”

"but we're roommates," you protest uselessly as kaiser's large hand clasps your wrists above your head. your eyes fix on him eagerly, widening, unconsciously fluttering your lashes in a desperate attempt to tempt him further. 

your chest rose and fell rhythmically, fingers growing numb with stress under the weight of your roommate’s mocking grin. 

seriously, where does he get his confidence from? did he think his good looks could excuse his arrogance?

wellll, your submissiveness wasn’t exactly helping your case here. if anything, it was fueling his already inflated ego. 

you were putting no effort to stop him— you didn’t really want to. you released the tv remote from their hold, letting it plummet clumsily onto your lap.

ever since kaiser moved into your shared apartment a year ago, you’ve secretly harboured this shameful desire to be his. but now, as the thick sexual tension suffocated the room, you questioned your foolish movie choice. 

the characters on the screen, passionately making out, had made you quite nervous earlier. you would steal quick glances at the german from the corner of your eye, hoping he wasn't put off.

the smirk that played its way onto his lips told a different story, however. perhaps he had been aware of your feelings for him all along, patiently waiting for this moment— the perfect opportunity to make his move.

"hmm. so what?” he chuckles, gently pushing you onto the couch as he releases your wrists and hovers over you, your hands instinctively finding their way onto his broad shoulders. he rests his palms against both your cheeks and leans in achingly slow— as if he relishes in tormenting you. “being roommates only makes this all the more exciting, don’t you think?”

“t-that’s…” you close your eyes tightly, welcoming the warmth that spreads across your cheeks.

this was the moment you’d deeply fantasized about for so long. you hadn’t known that the confidence you’ve once shown in your dreams would fade away ridiculously quick when you actually got to experience it.

swallowing the lump of pride in your throat, you whisper out a defeated sigh. “f-fine… only ‘cause it’s you, though.”

“now we’re talkin’, prinzessin,” his eyes crinkled in mischief, “be a good girl for me and keep your eyes closed, yeah?”

you were for once so unusually obedient, and you were willing to be so a million times over if it spared you from seeing the smirk on his face grow more and more smug with each passing moment.

you gulp audibly as he lays completely over you, his chest pressing firmly against yours as you feel his hot breath brushing against your face.

you had the deep urge to open your eyes, just so you could catch a glimpse of him on the verge of kissing you, but it vanishes instantly as you feel a soft sensation pressing against your plump lips.

“chu,” you reciprocate the kiss eagerly, only to be met with the sound of loud, haughty laughter.

your eyes immediately snap open, but freeze as you realize that the soft sensation you felt earlier wasn’t his pretty lips after all, but his two fingers placed on your lips.

a deep flush creeps up your cheeks. how long could you endure your roommate’s playful antics?

“kaiser!” you huff, folding your arms against your chest. “that’s not funny!”

he chuckles again, running his fingers through his hair in that irritatingly confident way, his usual cocky expression returning to his face. “couldn’t help it, pretty. you looked so fucking adorable, i just had to.”

“that was so embarrassing!” your lips purse in dissatisfaction, “and here i actually wanted to ki–”

with one swift movement, his arm encircles your waist and brings you impossibly closer to him, and without hesitation, captures your pouty lips in a kiss.

you remain frozen as he pulls away, a cheeky smirk tugging on his lips. you blinked at the air in disbelief before guiding your finger to your bottom lip, gently poking at it to make sure this wasn’t just another dream. 

“kaiser…” you softly murmur as the realization that you had just received a kiss from the michael kaiser slowly dawned upon you.

“you look crazy,” he laughs smugly, “was my kiss that good? you look like you’re about to pass out, princess.”

“it was my first kiss…”

he grins, “yeah, i could tell.”

“hey!” you narrow your eyes at him as he raises his hands in defeat.

“sorry, sorry,” he smiles, glancing back at the tv. the football player reaches for the remote and turns off the screen before laying back on the couch. “oh and for the record, the movie was absolute garbage,” he comments, “but i’ll give it a 9.9 out of 10 for the adorable moment it gave us.”

you raise an eyebrow, “not a 10?”

“well,” kaiser lifts his head up to look at you with a smirk plastered across his face, “we’ll have to keep kissing and find out.”

watching rin's pretty face as he chewed on his cheesy potato pancakes wasn't something you had expected to do today, but it also wasn't your fault that rin could make something as simple as eating so tempting. the way the stuffed mozzarella stretched from between your boyfriend's lips and the delicacy had you salivating— you wished you hadn't declined his considerate offer an hour ago, when he called you on the phone and asked if you wanted him to get you something to eat. you were full when he called, so now you couldn't help but watch him with a ravenous gaze and a watering mouth as he eats bite after bite, the colours on the television screen bouncing off his face. "y-yes rin, i'm one hundred percent certain!" you laugh awkwardly, wiping your mouth with your sleeve as you notice how the number of cheesy potato pancakes on his plate seem to reduce every few minutes, much to your dismay. "whatever." he sighs, focusing on the football match on the screen as he enjoys yet another bite. the fact that he could read you like an open book was irritating, but to be fair, your expressions wouldn't make it difficult for anyone to guess that maybe, just maybe, you were hungry. you had no idea why you persisted on being so stubborn when rin had generously offered you his food multiple times— perhaps it was the guilt of taking away the food he bought for himself despite him asking you if you craved for anything that got you so adamant— but either way, you were now eyeing the last crispy, golden coloured piece on his plate. "actually—" you blurted out, shifting on the couch until you were finally beside him. your nails harmlessly dug into his forearm as he looks at you knowingly, a subtle smile forming on his lips. "can i... have one, please?" "it's my last one," he mutters with feigned pettiness as he hands you the last potato pancake with no hesitation, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and bringing you closer to him, "but only because you're so cute." "thanks!" you smile as you lean against him and begin stuffing your face with the crispy good, but unfortunately, much to your disappointment, you wiped off its existence in about a minute. "it was really good..." you say softly while looking down at the empty plate, trying to appreciate this cute situation of your boyfriend giving you his last bite, but seriously, it only aroused your appetite. rin rolls his eyes and tilts your chin to face him, "don't look so upset," he deadpanned, licking the corner of your lips to remove the excess potato crumbs. "but i'm hungry—" "i know," he sighs, getting up and vanishing into the kitchen. he appears a few seconds later with a bag identical to the one for the cheesy potato pancakes, "...which is why i bought you some as well." "ohmigod!" you exclaim excitedly, quickly opening the styrofoam container and welcoming the exquisite aroma, "thank you, rinnie! i'm glad you bought one for me too." he pulls your face in for a quick kiss before squishing your cheeks lightly. "i ought to know by now, considering the amount of times you played this move on me." you softly giggle as you carelessly eat the food in front of you, "you know me so well." rin lays his head down on your lap and yawns softly, your clean hand quick to run its fingers through his hair. "i'd be a fool if i didn't."

"your movie choices are so silly," you smirk, "how is alice in wonderland supposed to scare me?"

"hey, y/n! don't underestimate the queen of heart's wrath!"

as you were getting off the couch, you felt his fingers wrap around your wrist, tugging you firmly onto his lap. before you could even react, his arms were already trapping you against his chest, leaving you to only squirm uselessly as his lips hungrily latch onto your neck.

"wait, don't—" you yelp before he switches his attention from your neck to your face, his mouth crashing against yours, swallowing both your thoughts and your words.

"that shitty 'horror' movie plan didn't work," he sighs, hovering over you as he lays you back on the couch. "so this is how i'll do it from now on, hm?"
