Did a bit of a redesign to Pink to better execute the original idea I had back when I made her :D I think she needs a better name than Pink Sapphire, but I'm not sure what else she could be since that's just what she is lol! I feel like it would be confusing to refer to her as Pink, given PD, and it would be confusing to refer to her as Sapphire bc of CG Sapphire. Truly in a pickle!

Reminder of her updated backstory:

Pink Sapphire is Pink Diamond’s personal Sapphire, customized to look pleasing to Pink (much like Spinel and Volleyball). She was poofed and bubbled by Pink Diamond after correctly predicting her faked shattering scheme in private. Pink Sapphire would’ve never reported what was to happen to the Diamonds or the future Crystal Gems, but Pink Diamond didn’t trust her to not tell anyone, so she ended up poofed, bubbled, and stored in a chest on her leg ship, forgotten to time. It’s only when the Crystal Gems decide to explore the leg ship more thoroughly that they find the long-forgotten chest, unbubbling Pink Sapphire into a universe that had had 6000 years’ worth of progress without her.

Not sure why I put her in Pink's room on Homeworld but I didn't know where else to put her and I can't draw backgrounds to save my life xD also didn't know what to do with her hands bc I wanted the dress to be visible in full, so I just did whatever xD

Wrote a new backstory for Pink Sapphire because I realized when listening to system/BOOT.pearl_final(3).info that gems' colors evidently could be customized. Not all Spinels were evidently pink, but ours was to be pleasing to PD. Same goes for Volleyball-- she's pink because Pink was pink. The word pink starts to not sound like a real word the more you talk about PD lol. Anyway, here it is:

My gemsona, Blue Quartz, hugging Cherry Quartz!! Cherry Quartz is SO CUTE, I’m so in love with her!! So of course, I had to have Blue hugging her <3 

This is actually my first digital piece since this summer, since I’ve been avoiding digital art due to being too intimidated to do it since I’m not the greatest at drawing, especially not digitally. But I finally worked up the courage to take my tablet out and digitize a sketch I made a few days ago! So here it is!

I took a vector of Cherry’s gem from a SU wiki and edited it to be more accurate, and Blue’s gem is an edited version of Amethyst’s gem. That’s why the lines are more smooth for those-- I didn’t actually draw them, just edited them xDD

I drew my Gemsona the other day!! This is Blue Quartz! I previously drew her how she looked when she popped out of her hole, but here’s her in her Crystal Gem outfit!

I also developed a bit more of a backstory behind her with @rustymetallilacs! Blue was created by Chris’s Peridot OC, Dottie, who was a Kindergartener! Dottie always had a feeling that Blue would pop out eventually, that she wasn’t a dud like her fellow Kindergarteners always thought. When Blue was found, Dottie was immediately like “See? I told them! I told them she wasn’t a dud!”

NEW GEMSONA!!

This is Blue Quartz! She’s from the Prime Kindergarten, one of the few defective Gems to come from there. When Homeworld began to get desperate for Quartz soldiers, like when they started the Beta Kindergarten, they began to try to churn out as many Amethysts as possible. While the Kindergartners there were a bit more experienced than the Kindergartners working at the Beta Kindergarten, and were thus able to do things more efficiently (i.e. the neat, evenly placed exit holes, making Gems of a higher cut than those from the Beta Kindergarten, etc.), a couple of them came out… not perfect.

Our Amethyst is one of those not perfect Gems, since she was overcooked and tiny, and popped out far too late to be of any use to Homeworld. Blue Quartz also incubated too long, and she was also comprised of the wrong mineral inclusions for her Kindergarten, kinda like Carnelian.

However, unlike Amethyst, Blue… wasn’t found. While Amethyst was eventually discovered after the Gem war, no one ever really stumbled upon Blue. Until she was found eventually, in the era of Steven, she was just kind of wandering around the Prime Kindergarten. Like Amethyst, all she had was herself and the rocks. And, well, it was boring. Once she was found, it was AWESOME! There was finally some FUN in her life!
