I just wanna point something out about yang, cause I haven’t seen it talked about at all.

She wears a purple bandana around her knee.

In modern culture in some places wearing a bandana around your knee has become a popular way of showing that you are gay. Usually you would wear a color(s) that corresponds to your sexual or gender identity so that other lgbtq+ people know.

Now yang wears a purple bandana, which I usually point out matches Blake’s color scheme, but actually purple has a lot of significance.

Historically, before the representation of the rainbow that we know now, purple was associated with the lgbtq+ community. It is a blend of the traditionally gender-identified colors pink and blue, blurring the lines, subverting and challenging gender norms.

Also, the purple stripe on the rainbow flag represents the spirit of the lgbtq+ community. Recently it has been worn at pride events as a symbol of solidarity and support in an effort to further normalize gay culture and end bullying and violence.

With that said. Yang is gay. The end.

Them: Steven Universe is bad and it shouldn’t be recognized as a groundbreaking cartoon.

Me: Regardless of your personal feelings on the quality of the show, it has pushed the boundaries of representation on Cartoon Network and kid targeted cartoons in general. Not only does it have explicit LGBT+ couples that aren’t just shoved in at the end for the rep points, but they are diverse in shape, colour, and personality. There are characters that utilize they/them pronouns and are always addressed correctly, no matter how offensive or kind the character is. The show tackles strong messages of trauma, abuse, and discrimination with respect, while on a strict budget and lack of time. It challenges the idea of writing by storyboard rather than by script, and demonstrates why off-model animation can and cannot work. The story is so open that adults and younger alike can still get enjoyment from it. It is by no means exempt from criticism and does have flaws, but there is a noticeable trend of it being crucified for the same criticism that is ignored in other stories.

Hey! So I saw you are having issues with YouTube copyrighting your stuff due to the music. Well Approaching Nirvana is one of the music group that is I forget the actual term but YouTube friendly. All you have to do is credit them properly and you should be good. There is some songs you can use but they should have a list that says which ones you can't use. So I hope that helps. Sorry I can't word things properly at the moment!

So weird one, I ship Jenni and Callie. Mostly cause I imagine Callie is, while super intuitive about other peoples feelings, is really dense when she is involved. So Jenni keeps flirting with her and Callie just doesn't get it/take seriously. They end up bonding over teasing/meddling in Adara's love life a lot. Then one day after some intimate conversation about something or other Jenni flirts one more time. And everything just suddenly clicks for Callie and she gets really flustered.
