YOUR POV…
okay, it was unclear as to why you were treating this as some big deal. you’d dealt with vampires all your life? you now meet a new one, and treat it like a new virus just broke out.
as you walked through the halls, the boy who you learned was named nick dragging you to some classroom, you thought on it more. when you’d been grabbing your pencil, you caught matt rubbing his arm.
while you were taking your test, he finished first…he’d probably repeated his grade hundreds of times. did that mean the teachers were in on it? none of it made sense. did that mean you were still stuck in your junior year? what the hell was going on? a sigh in frustration was a lot louder than some of the conversations around you.
“i can tell you’re confused,” nick commented as you both waited for a line of students exiting a class to pass by. it was now after lunch, and nick was forcing you to skip your class. not like they’d know anyways.
“really? what made it obvious.” you answered sarcastically. the last person in that class left, and nick pulled you in quickly, your arm getting that same feeling of tense.
this was the same class you had that morning, whitlock’s.
stepping through the door, you shut it behind yourself as you walked into the class more. nick was standing next to matt, and another boy who looked just like them also stood there.
“so…are you guys like…clones?” you asked hesitantly.
“triplets,” matt told you sternly.
“this is chris,” nick announced seriously.
“so?..” you dragged on. genuinely, what were you here for? you were in this class, and whitlock was still at his desk. studying him a bit further, you saw he was completely okay with us being in there. he knew.
the tensing was spreading out all throughout your body, even in mr. whitlock’s direction.
your eyes widened as you looked over to him, noticing some features you’d missed before. his eyes were brown, though they had the slightest tint of red. the glasses he wore left what looked like a tanline, but you could tell it was his regular skin color by how it was appearing on most of his body.
“wait…are you?” you asked.
he just nodded. “we all are,”
“okay, uhm…this is getting really fucking awkward. did you guys need to discuss something? or—“
“no, no. i mean, i do have a few questions, but we just wanted you to know; theres quite a mixture of humans and vampires in this school.” chris spoke informing-ly.
“well, i’m aware of that now, but—“
“that kid devin? he’s one too.” matt interrupted. “i could feel you were stuck on that,”
“how do you guys feel that? i’ve never been able to,” you told them honestly.
“you don’t feel others feelings?” nick asked, the way he worded it made you laugh a bit.
“no, it’s never really been a talent of mine. i’m always good at detecting and remembering things.” you explained truthfully. you were always told these things by your mom; that those were your talents— and you believed her. they were things that’d come up often, and things you never had to worry about because of how smooth they’d go.
“oh,” chris mumbled.
“so—wait, you have certain talents?” nick asked curiously, not knowing that it triggered something in you—memories, of your old school.
“you can only remember things, and detect? so in other words, you’re fucking weak?” a kid—much older and stronger than you teased.
“that’s embarrassing,” the girl beside him snickered, pushing you over harshly. and for the first time, in a while after another harsh summer, you felt pain.
“dude-“ matt began.
“shit, sorry. i, uh, didn’t know that would be a sensitive question.” nick admitted.
“no, no. it’s fine, trust me. im subjectively weaker—that’s it. can you guys read minds too? or-“
“it’s complicated. more so we sense how your feeling, and then that lets us into your mind. it’s a lot easier with humans.” whitlock budded in from his desk.
“so what else do you guys have that i don’t?” you ask, not knowing what to expect.
“well, what can you do?” matt questioned.
“uhm…well, i’ve been stuck in a school of all vampires, that’s kind of what you guys just saw. i’ve never tried anything on mortals, so i don’t know what i can or can’t do…only what i can or can’t know.” you answered in a blabber, the three before you just giving a sympathetic look.
before anyone said anything else, the door to the classroom opened. a girl with orange, curly hair peeped her head through the small part of the door that was open. “is mr. whitlock in here?”
“yeah, what’s up?” he asked, looking up from whatever had been distracting him.
you weren’t sure what exactly to do. you saw the three brothers looking at each other—communicating, and you felt that feeling again.
“she can’t sense! she wouldn’t even know if i…”
a paper airplane, at an unusual, non-mortal pace flew straight at your head. ouch.
“she had no fucking idea! i think i saw her flinch!”
“must suck to lack social awareness, hows FOMO feeling?”
“can you guys give it a rest?” you yelled in retaliation. which ended in nothing good, just another three paper airplanes.
matt shot her a look. soft eyes, raised eyebrows and a nod of his head. sorry. then a tilt of his head sideways. let’s leave.
