After cooling down a bit after season 7, I realise I may be a little immature about this.

Although they pulled a JK Rowling on us, I understand that this show won’t have the impact I've described above. It’s just me, rambling about how much I anticipated Adam and his relationship with Shiro. 

Season 7 was wonderful and I don’t want to forget that! We got so much action, story and character arcs that there really wasn’t time to introduce Adam as such. While I believe they could’ve made Adashi a little bit more apparent during this season, the whole 13 episode were structured nicely.

I’m not going to drop voltron and I will be watching season 8 when it comes out. I just felt like the post I made above felt slightly off with how I feel about this season now after cooling down.

Season 7

If you haven’t seen me furiously mention the queerbaiting, you’ll hear it all now. Season 7 was great. The 3D animation and the cinematic shots were beautiful. What wasn’t beautiful was the LGBT rep we were promised. If we didn’t get the SDCC notice that Shiro was canonically gay, then how are we supposed to even KNOW that him and Adam were engaged? Imagine a young child watching voltron and seeing this shit. Are they going to grow up and be the diverse and accepting generation or are they going to be the generation that will grow up to make films and series using the common LGBT tropes are in the media such as “bury the gays” and “psycho lesbians”. Adam died in his second scene. His previous scenes weren’t even romantic?? If this is our LGBT representation then why did they even hype up Adashi in the first place?? And I’m not just doing this because I’m a klancer. If Klance doesn’t become canon then that’s fine. Despite being romantically coded, I can understand that. I’m not moaning about being queerbaited because Klance was hyped up; I’m mad because Adashi, a clearly hyped up ship by Lauren, was only made to ‘satisfy’ the LGBT community and make money off them before killing them off. I’m not surprised, just disappointed.

Season 7

ramble about everything that frustrates me about the a/l romantic arc writing

that i remeber, we’ve never seen allura react positively at lance’s romantic advances…. they most positive interactions they’ve had have been the platonic ones, the only positive reaction i can think of to lance’s flriting was the space mall ‘i’d love something sparkly’ moment,,, if they planned on making a/l canon from the beginning why,, couldn’t they write her to like,, maybe progressively start reacting more postively to it? it’s been six seasons, why did she looks so ‘ehh ://’ when the mice told her lance had a crush on her?? and if lance actually started getting a crush on her for more than just being pretty then why couldn’t they actually show it? instead of just having lance tell the mice about it? why didn’t they show their feelings evolving in the six seasons they’ve got instead of just have lance magically go ‘oh yeah, now i like allura, but for the right reasons!’ so we as an audience can go ‘oh, now i can root for this relationship’? why do the showrunners say lance now is more self assured when he’s never been more isolated from the group? 

why do the whole lowtura arc? to just see allura’s heart get broken and??? make lance look like the nice guy in comparison i guess? why would allura narratively only be allowed to return lance’s feelings after getting her heart broken by the universe’s shittiest person alive™? what is lance gonna do in the last 2 seasons that will get allura to like him romantically that he hasn’t done before? cause to my knowledge at the end of s6 she still didn’t feel like that for him. what is gonna change? 

i said this already but why couldn’t they just write allura to not be so annoyed by lance’s flirting from the very beginning? why did it have to be a ‘if a girl doesnt like you keep trying for a year straight and if you like her for the right reasons she’ll eventually see you’re a nice guy and like you back’? they don’t deserve that, why couldn’t they just write them to have a cute mutual realtionship? maybe have allura react negatively the first time they meet cause ‘who tf is this lgy ears guy’ then they actually start getting to know each other? instead of consistently making lance’s crush only a source for comic relief then angst?

 if it was planned from the beginning maybe then actually develop it before the last two seasons??? intead of making five seasons of nothing but one sided flirting then one season where their (nonexistent to this point) relationship just makes them a) lonely, feel worthless, isolated, heartbroken and b) sad/guilty/whatever this expression is meant to convey
