Giving birth to a Wolf Demi-God was traumatic for Rahne. She rejected her son, Tier, after he was born but came to her senses later. Rictor and Shaterstar helped Rahne find Tier again, but his short life was filled with fighting against the lords of every version of hell. Strong Guy killed him, putting an end to the Hell on Earth War and Rahne's reunion with her son.

Rahne Sinclair and Sharon Smith in terrible eighties imitations of 1700s fancy dress (I left off the bows and ruffles in the final draft for want of shading ability, which kind of kills the 80s fashion horror a la New Mutants #53).

A piece for Femslash February, and probably one of my very favorite pairs despite the greater potential for Rahne/Dani. I guess I prefer platonic Rahne <soul sisters> Dani. To me, one of Rahne’s enduring traits is her willingness to go out and help any total stranger in trouble—often as she ignores her own problems. Admittedly a lot has changed since she first dealt with Legion, and different writers have taken her in different directions, but that’s the core of her character to me, and the reason why she stretches herself thin and burns herself out so often. I always wanted Sharon, who will willingly give herself up for people she knows, but is happy to allow strangers to swing in the wind, to be the person who Rahne could come home to and stop being a hero for. High maintenance as Sharon is, due to her fantastic Sharon-ness, she is never going to need saving, and instead can happily relax on the couch and feed Rahne really terrible food, or go out for a long walk, or talk avidly about dumb stupid little things.

Of course all of this is rendered entirely moot by the fact that Sharon has been dead for nearly 10 years comic time, I will have to take refuge in the deep friendship of NM #16, #17, #39, #40 and #53, and imagine it as sweet early love that could have blossomed into something really romantic if the universe was different.
