Monroe's fingers hover over the keys of his laptop as he stares at the blinking cursor mocking him and his usually verbosity as his mind is eerily silent in an attempt to figure out how to start this blog Diana foisted upon him as a way to connect to others in their community.

Hi.

I'm Monroe.

I'm a clockmaker, Weider Blutbad, and father of three living in Portland, Oregon.

He frowns at the dryness of the introduction. It sounds like he's in a support group meeting. Instead of trying to revise it, he powers through with a sigh, adjusting his reading glasses.

I'm also a lot less deft with the written language than my bookshelf would indicate, so excuse my stiffness.

My niece introduced me to this online community. (She also picked my username...) I don't really understand all of it, but she seems to think it would be a good tool for a wider outreach to those who might need resources or just someone to talk to who understands.

So much of our lives as Wesen or Kehrseiten-schlich-kennen must be lived in secret. For so long, our community has learned the traditions of fear of Kehrseiten and Grimm. As a result, we have not only lost touch with ourselves, but we have also fostered distrust in other Wesen simply because of not being encouraged to learn and explore out of fear of death or worse.

Nearly a decade ago, a Wesen-run group sought to dismantle the wall between Wesen and Kehrseiten, not to unite peacefully but to take over and rule out of spite and resentment. I don't propose anything so drastic. But I do believe ignorance can cause needless fear, and knowledge is important to quell some of the in-violence in our community.

I just want to offer an ear (well, eyes I guess) to anyone who feels the need to process their lived experience as a Wesen or KSK or has questions about Wesen cultures they might not be familiar with. I don't claim to be a receptacle of all information, but the things I don't know I can ask about.

Responses might be slow as I have kids, a job, and a hell of a lot of side-gigs. But my kids school-age now, so if I'm not up to my elbows in a 6 ft Hermle or involved in some other endeavor, I have some free-time during school hours.

My niece informs me this place is safe, and I trust her. (When in doubt, place your bets on the Hexenbiest in IT.)

Oh, and if you have a clock or watch question, I can do that too! Or trains! Or cellos! Anyone else into zithers?

Anyway, I know brevity is the soul of wit, but I consider myself more charmingly clever than truly intelligent so if that dooms me to being stabbed through a curtain, so be it!

Monroe reads over the paragraphs, doing edits and sighing intermittently in self-criticism before hitting the "Post" button before he can second guess any more than he already has.

With luck, he thinks, no one will see or respond. If nothing else he expects a text from Diana in the next hour criticizing something he's said, confirming his own age-based level of cringe. Ah well, he tried!

Introduction from Mun 👓

After much hemming and hawing, going back and forth, and generally having more anxiety than anyone should have about creating a tumblr account, I have finally bitten the bullet and created an RP (side)blog for Monroe.

Details are below, but I wanted to preface them by what I hope to get from doing this.

I really want to provide a safe space with a friendly face for people familiar with Grimm and who love Monroe as a character. I would love for this role playing blog to be a source of joy or uplift, somehow.

Of course, I'm not, by any means, a counselor or therapist, but I'd love to use Monroe's personality to at least provide a compassionate figure for those who need someone who cares.

Additionally, I'd love to explore playing with other characters (Wesen or not) and exercise my writing in order to grow in that area. And I'd love to just have a low stress, low expectation way to be creative and have fun.

Here are the details of interaction and setting. They're subject to change as I learn more about the easiest way to navigate role playing via tumblr. (Ages ago I looked up tumblr role playing standards and I barely remember them now, so I'm winging the heck out of this!)

Setting and Story:

This RP blog is based on the character Monroe from the television show Grimm, which ran in the Late aughts to the 20-teens. The idea is Monroe has been tapped into an online Wesen and Kehrseite-schlich-kennen portal by his precocious 'niece', Diana (who also chose his username, incidentally).

He has been encouraged him to join this community to connect and possibly be a source of knowledge and access to services in the Portland area as he and Rosalee want to become more involved in offering resources for the local Wesen and KSK population.

In the cannon universe, him and Rosalee have three 9-year-old triplets. (In my head-cannon I have named them Felix, Fred, and Jules.)

AU 1: Coffee and Tulips ☕🌷(Please use these emoji's to interact with this universe in the asks. These will also be used in posts in this universe.)

In this AU it's Monroe and Hank who are together with the same goal of Wesen service. They have adopted a Wesen child. (Details not yet decided.) In this universe, Rosalee and Adalind are together. Nick and Juliette were able to stay together.

And, of course, the popular pairing of Monroe with Nick. In my version of this universe, Juliette is with Rosalee. Adalind is, with no small amount of irony, with Hank. (Cause I think it makes just as much sense to be with a guy she tried to kill as being with a guy she assaulted in the bedroom. I love Adalind, btw.)

Format:

Posts

This will probably change as I start to get into interactions, but this is at least a rough idea of something I think might work.

For Monroe's posts, I want to show his actions as well as what he writes. So, what he's writing will be in the default format and his actions will be in a different color. I'm assuming this will be the easiest for screenreaders as well. I want to make these posts accessible.

In addition, if no emoji is present, assume the post is in the cannon universe. But if you interact with the post (either through reblogs or comments), you can put emojis to indicate which universe you'd like Monroe to respond from.

Posts will often just be Monroe's musings and me practicing getting into his voice.

Asks

Feel free to send anonymous (or non) asks as characters. If you plan to send repeated asks as the same character, utilize emojis to express that character's identity, or you can also bracket/parenthesis the character name previous to the ask.

(Boundaries for Asks will be in "Boundaries" section.)

You can ask (aka "Talk to me") as an in-person action-based role play or as a person who has found Monroe's blog and is using the question feature.

If you action-base role play, I'll integrate into whatever format you choose to use in my reply. As long as it's clear what is dialogue and what is action, I'm pretty flexible.

This is not intended as a romance blog. Mature sexual content isn't desired.

That being said, lewd and coarse humor can be okay. Please include content warnings for subjects that might be triggering, and I'll try to do the same. Monroe isn't pure, so neither will be all of his interactions.

I have the right not to interact with asks not being respectful of these boundaries.
