an important thing to remember about colonialism is that places that were colonized were not perfect utopia but often full of their own horrors and abuses
the other important thing to remember about colonialism that the above does not justify colonialism

“You think every citizen should have access to free and accessible healthcare?”
Wrong!!!
I think that Asylum seekers and Migrant workers and The Undocumented and Everyone Else should get free healthcare too
I love immigration

the infuriating thing is that there is genuinely so much good queer literature out there, contemporary and not, but there is also a sizeable chunk of readers who think that a book only "counts" as good queer literature if it's a) unproblematic, b) contains romance as its central focus, and c) has the characters state their orientation and/or gender identity directly to the audience using socially acceptable 21st-century terms (as opposed to resorting to cowardly tactics such as Subtext and Themes)

Asexual people who feel pressured into having sex when they don’t want to and queer people that are afraid or ashamed of having sex even though they want to are actually being repressed by the same societal forces but nobody seems to want to talk about that

Spring of Hope: Stand with LGBTQ+ Refugees in Their Fight for Freedom
🌱 A Season of Renewal – A Time to Take Action
Spring is a time of renewal, growth, and new beginnings—but for LGBTQ+ refugees in Africa, the struggle for freedom continues. Many have fled persecution, violence, and criminalization in their home countries, only to face new dangers in refugee camps, where they remain targets of abuse, neglect, and extreme poverty.
🚨 The Reality for LGBTQ+ Refugees Today:
🏳️‍🌈 Forced to Flee: In many African countries, LGBTQ+ individuals face imprisonment or death for simply existing.
🏳️‍🌈 No Safe Haven: Even in refugee camps, they are attacked, denied aid, and forced to live in constant fear.
🏳️‍🌈 Survival Struggles: Without access to jobs or support, many are forced into dangerous situations just to eat.
🏳️‍🌈 A System in Limbo: Thousands are waiting for resettlement in safe countries, but political delays and legal battles have stalled the process indefinitely.
💡 Hope is Stronger Than Fear – But We Need You
This Spring of Hope, we are calling on our global community to step up for LGBTQ+ refugees. Love and generosity are the most powerful forces we have against fear and oppression.

as a person who uses either public bathroom on a toss of a coin i gottta say its kind of ridicuous that people are so attached to them being seperate facilities. youre not usually gonna see anyones dick at the urinal and youre not usually gonna be able to spy on any women. the stalls are the same except one has a little tampon bin. we would lose nothing if all bathrooms were unisex and i'll die on that hill.

I get to be more free as an adult than I ever did as a child and I think more kids need to know that. as a high schooler part of what made my depression so bad was being told over and over again that it was the most carefree time of my life. while I was trapped in an abusive home + amongst bullies at school + in a body that wasn’t right for me. opportunities to be carefree don’t end when you turn 18. you can be more you than ever as an adult and that’s such a gift. I know ‘it can get better’ is an annoying thing to see over and over when you’re as trapped as I was back then. and I know that if you’re still a kid you deserve to be free right this second. but it can and will get better and this is not where life stops being interesting. promise

Honestly I think the thing people don’t understand about autistic people who hit their heads or headbang against things when they’re upset is that it is genuinely (often anyway—I don’t speak for everyone who does this) a self-soothing behavior. It’s not good for us, but in the moment, it feels like the only thing we can do that will help us regulate. It’s a form of stimming and the way to replace it is to find alternative safer stims, not yelling or violently intervening.

If you're a disabled young person, you've most likely been hit with the "pfft you think you're in pain now? Just wait til you're my age" bullshit from older people at least once. Everyone talks about how invalidating it is
But I haven't seen anybody mention how it's terrifying, too. Yes, I know health deteriorates with age. I know that old age is a disability unto itself. I know that the healthiest person alive will start getting aches and pains past the age of 40 and may even need mobility aids
I know all this stuff. And it always makes me think "yeah, if I can't walk without joint pain even while using mobility aids AT AGE 21, how painful will life be for me at the age where it gets painful for everyone?"
And it's hard not to feel like I'm doomed, y'know? Where most people get a period of health that they wish they appreciated more when they start to lose it, my starting point was a body that doesn't work properly and it's only gonna get worse from there. It's worse every fucking year.
TLDR stop telling disabled young people that their pain will only get worse to the point of being unimaginable as they age, WE FUCKING KNOW

I can't believe this is even a debate but even if someone's disability is genuinely fully caused by their own actions they still deserve accommodation and community
Yes this applies to substance use yes this applies to reckless behaviour yes it applies to purposefully injuring yourself.
If someone disables or injures themselves on purpose to such a large degree then they need aid regardless of how you feel about their actions

hello physically disabled person reading this. it is not your fault that your medical supplies are made from a lot of single use plastic and you can continue using them guilt free. your health comes first. thank you for existing.

i do kinda think whoever started the trend of requiring customers to ask an employee to let them into the bathroom should be executed Tbh. i dont care how much crack people are doing in your bathroom i shouldnt have to track somebody down and ask for permission to go potty in a public establishment

I wish they could invent a medical device that temporarily transfers your symptoms and pain to the doctor treating you and it worked like a shock collar. “I think light exercise would-.” and then bam they’re rolling around the floor clutching their stomach in agony and dry heaving.

I truly truly truly do not understand why some people think trans men talking about their oppression is an attack on them personally. When trans women talk about their oppression, I do not see it as an attack at all. I welcome it. Every trans person should have a space to talk about their oppression. If you’re one of those who feels threatened I promise you, trans men talking about their oppression does not take away from yours!!!!!
