Picture a scene where a character collapses and breaks down, releasing some sort of dark power they had,,
Here’s each individual characters version of that scene:
Heartless: Collapses from mental exhaustion, he’s the one to bottle things up and smile through the pain. That all comes to a tipping point (probably having to do with his past), he can’t stand it any longer and falls to his knees, hugging himself. As he falls all energy is sucked out of the things around him, any metal begins sparking with dark, necrotic lightning. Plants become brown and shrivel, people collapse from exhaustion, and heartless is left with a crippling guilt.
Alchemy: they aren’t the type to break easily, their level headed, and can process things much differently from the others, but something gets inside of them, whether magically or otherwise, it causes them to break. They grab onto their head and scream in pain, suddenly everything around them, even themselves, can no longer hold a physical shape. Things switch in and out at random. The area around them becomes dizzying to even look at. It stretches and contracts like it’s going through a worm hole.
Flint: his is a slow burn, literally and figuratively. Things slowly build up over time, like heartless. However heartless suppresses it, acts like it isn’t there, Flint feels it all coming in, it slowly breaks him down over time. He doesn’t collapse or fall, just stares off into the distance, at nothing. The area around him becomes unbearable, things that shouldn’t be able to melt, start too. Grass turns to ash, stone liquifies, all moisture evaporates, the air swirls. He isn’t protected from this though, he goes into a hypnotic like trance until he passes out from heat stroke.
Eira: almost the opposite of Flints. His reaction comes quick, In a split second. It would hit him like a truck, most likely having to do with his trauma, he’ll fall to his knees, and as the hit the floor, a wave a cold explodes from him. Everything is covered in frost, anything that can freeze, does so. People start to feel the effects of frostbite almost instantly. Eira isn’t knocked out by this though, he had his moment to collapse and is immediately back into it mentally. He cries quietly at what he just experienced.
Doppel/Glass: even thought they are very different, they behave almost the same,, because they’re doing the same thing? When they break down they mirror each other perfectly, both of their forms becoming staticky and breaking. The very air around them begins to crack. Their very voices, screams, shake the ground, causing small fissures in the ground. It isn’t flashy, but it’s scary
River: It would be something very personal, River feels her emotions much more openly and regularly than the others, whatever hits her causes her to have a long and deep cry. Her magic turns to the extreme, plants around her flourish, but then become over nurtured. They start to rot like a plant that’s been over watered. She cries in the small bog she’s created around herself, and cried even more at what she’s created
Alastor: he’s… well… weak. Physically and mentally, he may seem like he has it all together, but in reality a stiff wind could knock him over. He would physically pass out during his break down, causing a blackout of sorts around him. Even non-magic users would feel drained, the sky would turn purple and cloudy as he lies on the floor, unaware of what he is causing
Dock: he wouldn’t be alone, that would be stupid, he’s very eccentric as well. He would stab himself over and over, maniacally counting each strike, each poison he drinks. Then when he’s run out of steam, and it looks like he’s about actually die, he transfers absolutely everything onto everyone around him, friend or foe, causing almost everyone life threatening injuries while he is standing there laugh masterfully at his work
Lorelei: yeah we all know it, black dress, shatters glass, streaming makeup, but I also imagine she goes insanely power hungry, desiring control. She hypnotizes hundred of people with her voice, she’s heartbroken after all, she just wants someone to care for her
Bandy: it only happened when he is sincerely PISSED. When something really gets under his skin, objects start switching places at random, small sparks of his abilities that he has no control over, but when he really gets mad it’s turned up to 11. Objects are flinging themselves all around him, just as they fall he switches them again, causing a hurricane of anything and everything around him, rocks, leaves, people, houses. He destroys almost everything around him
Diana: I imagine hers as more of a big finishing move, or a last ditch effort. She gets very upset when she starts to lose, and when she almost does she releases a storm of bullets that shoot out in every direction as she falls to her knees, she screams but doesn’t cry, not while people are watching at least. If that move manages to finish someone off, she gets up and cleans up the mess in shame and pity
Lance: when something annoys him he shows it, same thing with anger, sadness, happiness, any emotion he feels he makes everyone aware of it. So when this man breaks, he breaks. It would most likely be when someone figures out his power. He gets paranoid, dropping all of his hoard on the ground and starts protecting it physically. Paranoid at everything living or inanimate. A helmet could be a traitor in his mind. If this happens around people anything and everything is getting dropped onto them, and then he starts attacking and destroying his hoard in paranoia.
#guys i found this and im scared#thank you zip for these mental images#i will continue to think about them for the rest of the momth

Thank you! There’s been so much love for the “Heartless” OCs and I’m super happy about it tbh (Especially regarding these two - they’re my faves!)
Hopefully this’ll suffice in terms of the other parts of your ask as well, haha

I was just scrolling and found this, but having mixed tech makes sense, especially for the witches. If people have magic, they don't need to evolve in the same way we on this earth did. If someone can just move things with magic, there's no need for a cart to be invented in the first place (lame example but you know what I mean)
What would be the relative tech level in heartless be? Like What're the odds of seeing hand weapons more advanced than a crossbow, or vehicles more complex than a wagon? And how much do you think that would vary from region to region?
Mixed! I know that trains and airships are some of the main modes of transport (to varying degrees of high-tech-ness) -- and obviously Diana has a gun, but they’d probably be quite an elite kind of weaponry.
(Mostly it’s the smaller things that I’m still trying to pin down, like how would people communicate across long distances for instance? Telegrams or Carrier Pigeons? Or both? Neither? It’s fun to figure out!)

Realised I have been severely neglecting my fanart duties, this is super quick and dirty
I've always imagined Eira's first time using magick as not a big braisen show but a quiet, pained acceptance
