I Didn't Know Modern Day Republicans Thought Past GOP Presidents Were Stupid
Yes, when I grew up there were weapons everywhere.  As much as I am socially Liberal, I have always been a hawk.  Normally, I might consider supporting a military strike.  Not under this President. There was no planning and we attacked the Shia.  That puts us deeper into team 9/11.  As usual, the way out is the free market.  In this case, because of what gas prices are going to do, we might not…

The Guy Who Promised Us No Wars Has Launched Us Into WWIII
In local politics, things might get interesting this week.  On one hand, we have the Senate not taking up the firearms bill.  On the other hand, we have the real estate industry talking to the House about the Conveyance tax.  In the old days, I knew what the play was.  Today, too many folks don’t play by the rules, so predictions are hard. Meanwhile, Trump is helping push for World War III on…

Who Will Be Trump's "Get Over It" Friend??
There are things you learn in recovery.  One of them is that relationships never go the way they were supposed to go, mostly due to your addictions.  Both Trump and Musk are addicts.  Any attempt to do what they are supposed to do gets upset because of their need to chase their substance of choice or little girl of choice. This is something we need to play with.  We need to keep showing them…

Life Gets Better As The World Gets Worse
Yesterday, I had another bird encounter.  This one would fly ahead of me and land.  Then it would admonish me as I walked by only to fly ahead and land so it could repeat the cycle over and over again.  It really liked flying right over my shoulder.  Some folks claim it’s one of my moms.  I’m just proud to say as a 58 year old, I’ve walked 34 miles in the last three days with no negative side…

Ha Ha Human, You're it
There’s a spot next to my favorite cemetery in Warwick that is down by the water.  It’s a dead end with a property for sale and just before you hit the water, there’s an abandoned shed.  Off and up to the right are the railroad tracks that proceed over a bridge.  Across the small waterway is a restaurant and a mooring you might recognize. This week I was down there by the water.  Apparently, a…

Trump Is Showing Us He's Still Compromised
So we have to ask: Did the Rhode Island Senate pass Mckee’s raise requests because they were trying to avoid later vetoes or are they on it??  This is the first time the Senate has done something not cool.  With Ciccone as Majority Leader, expect more uncool moments. What did we learn about Trump this week??  We learned he still owes cash.  Otherwise, why do all that Qatari stuff with the budget…

God Things Have Gotten Quiet FOIA Wise
16 May 2025 FOIA Officer U.S. Office of Special Counsel 1730 M Street, N.W. (Suite 218) Washington, DC  20036 Dear FOIA Officer: I hope this message finds you well.  I’m just checking in.  I’ve filed 2 FOIAS in the last 4 months or so regarding Harry Jackson and I haven’t heard a thing. Come to think of it, I’ve made similar requests to Congress, DOD, DOJ, ODNI and others, and it seems…

Lying In Wait
One of the things we have to keep in mind about Trump is he is often just the middle man.  Look at the number of floors in “his buildings” owned by somebody else.  In some cases, it is obvious who does not control who makes the primary decisions for the property.  Such could be the case with this Air Force One deal.  Don’t be surprised if, 10 minutes after he is “gifted” the plane, somebody else…

If Ciccone Could Help Out Harvard By Just Taking A Vote, Would He??
Yes, the Trump Administration does have a plan.  The problem is that the plan has to be re-written each day.  They can’t even keep up.  That’s why Marco Rubio has eight jobs now and Stephen Miller might end up with a gig that will keep him quiet. Our problem is we complain too much and not enough using the free market.  Part of the reason for that is Chuck Schumer has to follow New York rules.…

For The 100th Time, We Need To Start Playing Offense
So now we discover that the Administration deported a 2-year-old without due process.  I know cruelty is what holds MAGA together, but as an adopted person, it’s hard to put into words how angry this makes me.  It’s even more reason to take on MAGA-loving types at the local level. What could I mean??  Let’s start with Senator Ciccone right here in Rhode Island.  A fake Democrat all his life,…

Should Cornyn Use Hegseth Against Paxton Before Trump Dies??
24 April 2025 Honorable United States Senator John Cornyn United States Senate 517 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, DC  20510 Honorable Senator Cornyn: I hope this message finds you well.  It’s not often you get to write to a “normal” Republican in the modern era.  In fact, you have an opportunity to become rather popular even in Democratic circles. As you know, not only has Pete…

It Was Not An Accident That Caused Easter And Ostara To Intertwine
I got in a 10-mile run/walk on Saturday.  Made me feel incredibly grateful. No matter what stupid stuff Trump does, we can’t forget about the awesome things in our lives.  We need to use them, because he has none, to push and prod him into making mistakes.  For instance, the Hegseth v. Musk v. Martin battle that seems to be brewing. Things are so bad in that administration that Trump showed a…

We Need To Work On Tone
We need to change our tone with the Trump types.  We need to get snobbier.  That rattles them more.  In the Trump coalition, only a fraction of a percent are billionaires.  The rest make next to nothing and live off their hatred.  We need to be more of what they despise instead of trying to work with them. The other thing we need to do is jump on some of the scams.  If Trump and Congresspeople…

The RIGOP Is Acting Irresponsibly
Is it because I’m somehow celebrating another birthday tomorrow that the Rhode Island GOP is involved in some irresponsible activity??  If you haven’t heard, they’re planning to have a Tesla car fair.  If Musk sold Tesla, I would have no problems with the company.  It is the car we rented in 2022 when my wife and I got married in Florida. In this case, however, there are two problems.  The first…

Things On The Personal Side Seem To Be Coming Together
It’s weird how things come together.  I have a bipolar episode and find my blood pressure is a little high.  I started taking psych and blood pressure meds and all of a sudden I’m sleeping better and recovering from long walks more quickly.  This is to the point where I’m going to try running again.  A 58-year-old running 6 miles a few times a week??  Let’s see if I can progress to that. While…
