For the first time in my life, I am wondering if alligator mating season... is also snake mating season??
#it would makes sense i just never thought about it#i mean summer is also when the frogs go wild#probably peak time for a lot of - if not most - cold blooded critters#but as a Floridian only Alligator Season gets both discussed and planned around#anyway enjoy this video of two rat snakes doing the horizontal tango#corn snakes#snakes#herpetology#nature#florida#reptiles#wildlife#animal videos#wild animals#wildlife videos

I had a weirdly great day for seeing wildlife today, despite not going anywhere in particular. Not pictured: the ringneck snake I saw sunning on a sidewalk on my way into the office this morning :)
Another weird coincidence? The moth at the top is a Polyphemus moth, and the latin name for gopher tortoise is Gopherus polyphemus! :O
#the gopher tortoise walked right past me while I was sitting at the park on a telehealth call#literally passed less than 2 feet from me#i could hear them breathing it was so cool#gopher tortoise#polyphemus moth#bee#dilemma bee maybe?#nature#wildflowers#coreopsis#old florida#moths#lepidoptera#wildlife

Trying to figure out if it's still too early for frog sounds, or if my new neighborhood is just really bad frog habitat :/

Fell in the river on the job yesterday. It was 53℉ and windy.
Still not as cold as your average conference center tho.

I love when the willows are all in bloom on a windy day, and the breeze carries little bits of willow fluff. It's like the swamp's version of snow.
#willows#the wind in the willows I guess haha#swamp#wetlands#florida#old florida#nature#trees#spring
