🏹 VALKYRIE 🏹. . Current work in progress. In Norse mythology, Valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live. . “Wise thought her the valkyrie; were welcome never men to the bright-eyed one, her who the birds' speech knew well. Greeted the light-lashed maiden,  the lily-throated woman, The hymir's-skull-cleaver as on cliff he was perching”. Garden Nymph 🧚🏽🧝🏽‍♀️ Ivy. . Spent the last few days working on this beauty. So the thing is... she now has a whole backstory, I can’t help it, her story has developed with every paint stroke. So here it goes... This is IVY, In my head she is the nymph that lives in my garden, she brings you colour like no other and is a bad ass biatch (in a good way) even though she is the size of a blackbird. Her food is the sun and nectar (she has an arrangement with the queen bee - she can delve into their food stores as long as she protects their hive from the birds. Having said that her main ‘crew’ is the family of Blue-tits that live in the bottom hedge, they’re always up for a laugh. Ivy, however, does have an arch nemesis, and his name is ... Martin, the rat. Now don’t get me wrong, Ivy gets on with most of the rat gangs in the garden, but Martin is a dick. Martin is the Bane of her life, he has sunk the pond on one side by tunnelling underneath, he keeps trying to eat the fish and to top it off he always crashes the bird’s food court, trashes it. . Her mission is to keep the eco system balanced, and create harmony. . I obviously have too much time on my hands. Tbf I actually think it’s escapism. I always create these little stories in my head. It’s my way of dealing with the reality we are handed. .
