Musician Pablo Carlos Budassi was drawing hexaflexagons for his son’s birthday party favors, when he got the idea to make a logarithmic view of the universe, which he created by using Photoshop to combine logarithmic maps from Princeton with NASA photos.

Budassi’s illustration features our solar system at the very center, followed by “inner and outer planets, Kuiper belt, Oort cloud, Alpha Centauri, Perseus Arm, Milky Way galaxy, Andromeda galaxy, nearby galaxies, Cosmic Web, Cosmic microwave radiation, and Big Bang’s invisible plasma on the edge.“

For the movie Brave, Pixar animators took nearly 3 years to perfect the movement of Merida’s hair, which was crafted from 1,500 hand-placed, sculpted, individual CGI curls.
