ă ....... ă The puzzlesmith... didnât... remember him?
(If you watched this footage in slow-motion, you could pinpoint the exact moment his heart broke in half.)
ă WELL! THATâS OKAY! BECAUSE! WEâLL HAVE! ...TEN MORE YEARS TO GET IT RIGHT!!! ăÂ
ă WOULD BE BETTER IF I CALLED YOU ANOTHER NAME? ă He did say to think of them as two different people, and Papyrus was happy to rebuild his ego.
âI hate to break it to you, Papyrus, but Iâm afraid donât remember much about you at all.â And Puzzlesmith Jones? Where on Earth did he get that name from?
âTime travelâs a bit complicated in that way. It may be easier for you to think of us as two different people.â

ă AH, I GET IT. SO YOUâRE PUZZLESMITH JONES, BUT TEN YEARS FROM THE FUTURE, THEN? ăÂ
ă WITH ALL THAT TIME, WE MUSTâVE GROWN AN INSEPARABLE PAIR OF FRIENDS! ăÂ
ă I ONCE MET ANOTHER PAPYRUS, BUT HE WAS JUST A CLONE MADE BY A SHADOWY NINJA. ă But that didnât make him any less of a Papyrus as long as he believed in himself!
âNeither. I assure you Iâve been the same age for quite some time now.â
âBut I assume youâve recently spoken with my younger counterpart.â There he went, lying about his identity again. Was it really necessary? At this point it was becoming more of a running joke, a gag to play on those gullible enough to mistake him for the actual Luke. âThis city is amazing; apparently those scientists have found a way to pull its subjects from all sorts of different times and places. It just so happens that Iâ or ratherâ we were taken twice, ten years apart. Do you follow?â

ă HELLO THERE, HUMAN! YOU LOOK LOT TALLER THAN THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU. FIVE MINUTES AGO. ă
Papyrus paused for a moment or two as the realization dawned on him.
ă WAAAAIT A MINUTE... IS THIS ANOTHER PUZZLE? OR THE CASE OF THE AMAZING GROWING BOY??? ă Kids these days. They grow up so fast! One minute you see them, and the next minute, whoosh! (Either that or it was that time discombobulation thing? Papyrus had a hard time understanding these events.)

ă OH, REALLY? I MIGHT HAVE TO MEET THIS PROFESSOR. HE SOUNDS LIKE QUITE THE PUZZLING PROF! ă
ă A VISUAL PUZZLE? ă That sounded alright. Most of his puzzles were visual ones, werenât they? ă NYO-HO... VERY WELL, THEN. I ACCEPT! LAY OUT THE CHALLENGE, PUZZLESMITH! ă
âReally?â Lukeâs surprised, for a moment, before he breaks into a smile. âWell, that great to hear! Youâd go along well with the Professor, then. Heâs quite the puzzle connoisseur.â He winked.
âIf thatâs the thing, though, would you like to take a crack at another? Spice it up a bit with a more visual puzzle?â

ă NYEH-HEH! I KNEW IT! POINT ONE FOR PAPYRUS! ă Papyrus will gladly take that hint coin, but he politely turns down the bag of coins. ă I APPRECIATE THE OFFER, HUMAN, BUT THE ONLY PROPER REWARD FOR ME IS THE FEELING OF FINDING A FELLOW PUZZLE LOVER. THATâS WHAT KEEPS ME PUZZLECRAFTING. ă
âExactly! Pretty simple, huh?â And a skeleton? Well, Lukeâs not one to judge, so he lets it by.
Luke tosses a hint coin his way. âYour prize. A hint coin! Thereâs a couple of us who like handing out puzzles for fun, and you could exchange these for hints for particularly hard puzzles. Orâ unless you want to join us, of course! I could give you a bag if you want to do it, too!â

ă OH, THATâS SO EASY! A HUN-- WAIT A MINUTE. ă
ă IF 5 CATS CAN CATCH 5 MICE IN ONLY 5 MINUTES... THEN SHOULDNâT IT TAKE THE SAME AMOUNT OF CATS FOR 100 MICE IN 100 MINUTES? ă Unless there was one really agile cat, but Papyrus wasnât accounting for that.
âAnyone up for a free, quick riddle? Here it is:
Five cats can catch five mice in five minutes. With that in mind, how many cats does it take to catch 100 mice in 100 minutes?â
#misthallleries#readmore'd for puzzle solution#papyrus is a big goof but some things in the game suggest he's good at math#at least that's what i'm rolling with!

TO: Yang Xiao Long FROM: Papyrus
* OH MY GOD??? THIS IS A TEXT MESSAGE??? * THESE TEXTS ARE VEXING, I MUST SAY!!
{{ Rank-Up! Nobody - Citizen }}
ăđă â When she was expecting a certain something-that-was-also-a-gun, finding a sudden phone addressed to her was a little bit of a disappointment. Of course, it also showed her that she could remotely be given things by the scientists considering nobody else seemed to be able to sell or buy these things. Once everything was set up as she liked, it was time to get to business.
[TO: ALL CONTACTS] [FROM: YANG XIAO LONG]
[TXT 1/2] Looks like the science guys decided to give me a phone.
[TXT 2/2] Bad CALL on their part.

ă IMPRESSIVE! YOU MUSTâVE BEEN A TALENTED CHILD. WITH AN AWESOME POWER LIKE THAT, YOU COULD PUT A PAPYRUS IN EVERY HOME! ăÂ
If there was any sort of malice intended in Itachiâs tone, the ever-friendly Papyrus wasnât bothered in the slightest.
ă WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT IT? HM... ăHe rubbed his bony chin in thought.
ă IâVE BEEN HERE FOR THREE MONTHS, AND YET... I STILL DONâT KNOW HOW THEY BROUGHT ME HERE FROM THE UNDERGROUND! ăSure, the barrier was supposed to be impenetrable and all, but you think he wouldâve heard about the soul who opened the gosh-darn thing!  ă OTHER THAN THAT, AND THE... SHIFTING BUILDINGS? I HAVENâT SEEN ANYTHING âUNUSUALâ HERE. ăÂ
Meanwhile, time was speeding up for everyone who qualified as an NPC, which, to the eye, would make the human behind Papyrus race to the top of the stairs in seconds flat.
Papyrus wasnât looking, though. He was having a conversation here!
âItâs a clone technique, something that underlings learn early on in their shinobi career. I admit that cloning the likeness of another is a little different than cloning yourself. It is still mere childâs play for the likes of me,â he spoke out but regretting the tone he chose. He had to remember that the notes he found meant something which that something was the turning away of his illusion self.
Now that he had Papyrus willing to help him, he would allow the clone to continue to bother the individual to help. All that was left was to explain of his needs. Before he could do that, he needed to find out a little more of this city.
âBefore I go into details, I must ask of you ⌠What do you know of this city? Have you been here long? and has there been anything unusual about this place? You see, I woke up in a house that I can only assume belongs to me and possibly another. Pictures, possessions, and notes have led me to believe that something has tampered with my being. If this makes sense to youâŚâ

Papyrus had hoped that the man would be fine with waiting for him to finish his job; he didnât expect that he would go ahead and just take care of the job himself. Even with the myriad of magic that the monsters used in the Underground, heâd never seen anything quite like this (except in some of Undyneâs cartoons for children anime, maybe). Needless to say, Papyrusâs eyeballs were popping a bit from behind their sockets.
ă W... WOWIE! WHAT A HANDSOME LIKENESS! H-HOW DID YOU CAPTURE MY MAJESTY?? ă He stepped forward to examine it some more, trying to tell just how accurate it was (did it have his lovable personality, for instance?) before turning his attention to the man who made it, full of respect for a fellow Papyrus fan-artist.
ă VERY WELL! IF NEW PAPYRUS CAN HANDLE IT, THEN HOW CAN I, PAPYRUS CLASSIC, HELP? ă Papyrus rubbed his hands together. Time was of the essence here! And he didnât even know what he was doing yet!
Was pure the right word to use for this being? As good as it was for this skeleton to want to help, it wasnât helping Itachi out with how pushed on time he was in. Lifting up a hand, Itachi figured one little trick would work for this case. With a lift of a hand, the Uchiha would make a hand seal. Crows from around them would begin merge together to form a Papyrus clone.Â
âAllow this substitute to take the aid of this person, then. I am afraid I am pushed on time, and I cannot afford to sit idly while my time slips away,â Itachi spoke out. At least Itachi could admit one thing: it truly was nice to see someone so willing to help another like this. The determination he held for the task was ⌠a little unreal for him to believe.Â

Papyrus turned his head at the sound of a voice, which was a pretty big risk when he thought about it. If he didnât keep a socket on this person at all times, then they might walk away without answering him!
ă LEND MY AID? IâD BE HAPPY TO! ă
ă ...ONCE IâVE FINISHED HELPING THEM WITH THEIR BAGS. ăÂ
Boy, was he ever popular today (as always)! Like the aspiring guardsman that he was, heâd probably need a little more convincing if he was going to leave his post.
Eyes caught the most unusual thing. He was not sure how to respond to this sort of scene, but he was certain that the skeleton was of pure heart. Red hues could see a mystical power within it, so this only left more questions for the Uchiha than answers. Still ⌠it was nice to see some purity in this hell of a city.
âYou there ⌠If you desire to help another, then by chance could you lend me your aid?â Itachi would speak out to the skeleton. As strange as it may be, it was possible for Itachi to do something. Despite being unprepared to be pulled into a city, possibly losing his memory of even being here ⌠he could take some steps to at least better prepare others in need.

ă EXCUSE ME, HUMAN! DO YOU NEED ANY HELP CARRYING THAT HEFTY-LOOKING BAG UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS? ă He grinned with anticipation, and added, ă I ASSURE YOU, THESE MUSCLES ARENâT JUST FOR SHOW! ă
No response. The human was completely frozen. They didnât move, they didnât even blink -- Papyrus might as well not have even been there.
Not that it fazed him in the slightest. Itâd take more than that to stop him now!
ă ITâS OKAY. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME. IâM WILLING TO HELP YOU WHENEVER YOUâD LIKE! ă
ă ...ANY MINUTE NOW. ANNNNY MINUTE. ă
Heâs going to be here for a while.

ă THEYâRE THE BONES THAT I USE FOR ATTACKS! ă Since not everyone could shoot magic bullets, he reasoned.
ă THEY ALSO MAKE EXCELLENT HOUSEWARMING GIFTS. ă A gift heâd given on many occasions!
If Connor took off the ribbon and the wrapping, sure enough, thereâd be a thigh bone buried within. (The bone-shaped packaging kind of gave it away.)
He reaches for a goody, eyes lit with curiosity as he inspects said goody in hand and nods in the direction of this amiable young man.
âThank you. I hope this winter has treated you well.â
âHmâŚbones? The bones of what?â

In the mail arrives a neatly-wrapped package addressed to âMr. Papyrus :-)â, with a bright red ribbon and a label that says âhandle with careâ.
Should he (safely and carefully, mind you) remove the wrapping paper, he will find a small card on top of the box itself.
Within the box itself are two things, the first and most noticeable of which being a lovely slice of butterscotch pie, kept on a plate inside of a plastic lid to prevent it from being damaged.
And then, lining the entire bottom of the package, there are four boxesâŚ
⌠of spaghetti, all ripe for the cooking. And neatly folded between two of them is a softâŚ
⌠chef hat, that should, with any luck, fit the size of his head.
And lastly, tucked inside the hat itself is a small note.
P. S. Be sure to share your wonderful cooking with Frisk and your brother for me. Have fun!
ă WOWIE⌠MY VERY OWN FAN LETTER! AND IT EVEN CAME WITH THE PERFECT SIDE DISH! ă
Spaghetti and butterscoth pie: now thereâs a combination for the ages. He may not know who this âTorielâ was, but rest assured, heâd carry out their blessings.
#reginacapra#ca christmas#submission#long post /#thank you for the lovely gifts!#in regards to your note: i would love to RP sometime!

Papyrus hadnât seen his brother Sans in a while, a fact which was beginning to dawn on him. Back in the underground, he would always make sure that his brother was staying on the straight and narrow, but without him around, who knew what he was up to? Why, to think of the numbers of man-hours heâd waste or the pranks he could pull without anyone around! Not to mention the messes he seemed fond of making... but all in the same, they were brothers -- that mattered!
So imagine how pleasantly surprised he was when who should come sliding up to him but his own bony brother! Papyrus seemed like he was grinning more often than not, but now he had a really, really, really good reason.
ă SANS!! I WAS WONDERING WHERE YOU WERE. YOU MISSED HALLOWEEN AND YOU ALMOST MISSED CHRISTMAS!! ăÂ
ă IN FACT... I DONâT THINK THAT IâVE SEEN YOU IN MONTHS! I HAVENâT BEEN PROPERLY BAMBOOZLED AT ALL! TO THINK THAT MY BROTHER BECAME A WORKAHOLIC... AND NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO TELL ME ABOUT IT! ă
Was there an award for working hard and hardly working at the exact same time? If so, he would probably give it to Sans.
he couldnât place the weight harrowing his stomach; a nausea telling of a worryâ a fear, that what he might see is just a dream. it had followed him from Snowdin, and lurched into full throttle upon a familiar sight. sure, there was relief, finding Papyrus safe and sound on the surface of all places, but this other nagging at his conscienceâŚ
he couldnât shake it, but wore that trademark grin of his nonetheless. it had been a reliable rug heâd swept the bad inklings beneath all this time.
     * hey bro.
he was suddenly at his brotherâs side, postured the same as though theyâd never left home.
     * whatâs the haps?
as though none of this perturbed him in the slightest.

Papyrus juuuust managed to step off the escalator in time (he was never that good with moving floors), but if Rei had said something before that moment, then he likely wouldâve fallen smack-dab on his face.
Taken aback by the master of fashion they were not -- in fact, Papyrus was the one who was feeling affronted. With one little ânoâ and a stream of advice, this human had rocked him to his very core.
ă NO! MY PERFECTLY COORDINATED OUTFIT! I THOUGHT THERE WAS NO ONE IMMUNE TO MY CHAAAAAARMS...! ăÂ
He leaned down a bit and took her by the shoulders, staring at the woman eye-socket-to-eye.
ă HUMAN! I MUST LOOK PROFESSIONAL! ONLY THEN CAN I BE THE ENVY OF MY PEERS! ă His sockets seemed to sparkle as he went on: ă PAPYRUS, THE WELL-DRESSED SKELETON GUARD... THATâS WHAT THEYâLL BE SAYING ACROSS THE KINGDOM! ă
â
style clash
Although distracted by just how affronted she was by his taste in clothing, Rei managed to notice when the escalator was reaching its end. She stepped off and gave the escalator a safe distance before crossing her arms. âNo,â she said curtly. âClothes are meant to be respected. When you alter them, you should have some semblance of fashion⌠or consult a fashion expert. I can fill that role, even if my taste would pale in comparison to someone like Ragyo Kiryuin.â
âWould you like some assistance in finding clothes suited to you, that send more professional messages to others?â As a key member of REVOCS, Rei Hououmaru was a fashion snob. She could already picture this boney person in a well-fitting suit. Considering her own outfit, shorts were negotiable.
