I think part of the issue is people assuming that everyone MUST want to move upwards. Like… it’s the next logical step for a person to want to move up the chain: from worker to manager, to district manager, eventually owner.
But I always think of growth like plants.
Aspens grow tall to reach the sun, for sure. But dandelions grow deep, understanding themselves fully so that if some misguided fool tries to uproot them they’d have to try damn hard. And then there’s thyme and other creeping plants, which spread themselves out so much that if you chop a part of it off it roots wherever it can find dirt to root in.
It’s okay not to have lofty dreams. You know what kind of plant you are better than anyone else.

Also I should not have used a filter for this.

Here's some spruce seedlings that will eventually get turned into bonsai, but they still have a long ways to go. There's 2 blue spruce and 2 black spruce, but the black spruce have been planted close together in the hopes that I'll be able to get a 2 trunk bonsai

Here's 3 grocery store impulse buys. I have 2 snow roses and a ginseng ficus. My cats have been attempting to eat them, so they don't look so hot. Although if these are the only trees my cats attack I'll be happy.

Here's my flame tree which I will eventually prune and shape into a bonsai. It's only a few months old and has grown super fast.
