“Well I can’t just take any of them, I do need to have a written slip in order to have access but for the most part, yeah? True, but I don’t really have a say in what happens to them after they die….is that not the point of the grim reaper…taking them to the afterlife or am I getting this all wrong?”
“But why are you taking them? Like, what are you gonna do with them and shit?” He asked and smiled a bit. “No, that’s the point of the grim reaper. I’m not really making a good point, I’m sorry.” He said and laughed.

“It was down in storage, leftovers from a case that never got solved years ago. I’m not the grim reaper, but close, I’m a coroner. So, I do a lot of work with dead people.”
“So you can just take body parts? Seems a bit weird, but I don’t know shit. You’re basically the grim reaper then. Working with the dead applies.”

“This looks bad I know, but I swear it’s entirely work related and I don’t normally drag around a, well okay, I think I’m just going to shut up now, that seems like the better option here.”
“Duuuude, where did you get that? What do you do exactly that calls for a skull? How shit, are you the grim reaper?”

Plucking a few bills from his wallet, Lei palmed the cash then stuffed the pouch back into his pocket, a smile working its way over his lips as he met his friends eyes. “I’m positive. Don’t worry about it. I feel like I should do something good today…” his words trailed off and the crimson hue on his cheeks, only seemed to intensify as he recalled his earlier mishap at work.
Booker nudged Lei when he saw him flushing again, “Dude, don’t worry about it too much. Shit happens, alright? And thanks for the coffee.” He said and stepped forward to place his order, stepping aside for Lei to order next. “Besides, that lady overreacted just a little. I mean screaming and running? It’s not a cartoon, you know?” He said and laughed.

The inundation of expletives that met Lei’s ears, had them flushing a deep rouge that soon filled his cheeks after. Cussing always made him embarrassed and he could never pinpoint exactly why, besides the connotation each word carried. “I don’t know. I might get a frappuccino instead. It’s been a fair while since I had one,” Lei responded, fishing his wallet from his pocket with full intention of paying for both their drinks while he stepped into the cafe. “It’s on me though.”
Booker couldn’t help chuckling at how Lei’s ears flushed when he swore. He wasn’t going to make fun of him for it. He could understand that it wasn’t for all people. “Go for it then. It sounds good.” He said and shrugged. “Are you sure about that, man?” He asked, it wasn’t like he minded a free coffee though.

pity. “oh that’s good-” she nods quickly, mask settling in place to cover her disappointment. she doesn’t actually wish harm to the animal, she’s rather fond of them in a strange way. but if the animal being hurt would cause pain to it’s owner then she can’t deny a sense of satisfaction from that. “you’re awfully good with animals.” vinny says softly, gaze drifting around the store. she’s been in here countless times; though rarely wearing this face.
Booker looked at her a little suspiciously, he knew how she was. She was particularly cruel at times. Booker may have been allied with The Eye, but he wasn’t as bad as many of the other shapeshifters in his clan. “Yeah, well, when you can manipulate animals you usually get pretty good with them.” He said with a smile in her direction. “Animals are pretty great. They never did anything, you know?” Sure there were the bad seeds, but animals were good and just trying to survive. People were different.

Rejecting the kind offer with a sudden wave of his hands, Lei met his friends eyes and sent a warm smile his way. “No, no. Don’t censor yourself for me. I can handle it. Just always wondered why they were a necessity for some people.” Patting Booker’s back, Lei beamed happily at the other man. “What kind of coffee do you wanna get?”
“Alright, man. Fuck it, I won’t censor myself then.” he said, laughing a bit as he spoke. “I usually get a mocha. They’re all bittersweet and chocolatey and shit. So good.” He said and opened the door to the coffee shop, stepping in with Lei. He stuffed his hands into his pockets as he looked at the menu. “What are you getting?” He asked.

❝ Well, ta be fair, I haven’t met even a SINGLE bear. It doesn’t seem like a good idea for me ta run around the forest like Snow White lookin’ fer one, either. I never owned a pet in my life so it’s kinda an out of sight, out of mind thing. ❞
“Are you sure? Because I like to Snow White it every now and then and it’s quite enjoyable. Bears are pretty intimidating though. I’ll give you that one. Would you be more of a dog or cat person? If you had to have a pet for some reason.”

Lei trailed behind his friend, the rouge tinting his cheeks, taking on a slightly darker hue. “Uh… swearing doesn’t bother me, not really. It’s just… I don’t really do it,” he uttered bashfully, feeling a little self-conscious. “I always wondered why people felt the need, you know?”
“I guess because they’re just words. It’s just been made bad by religion so it’s mainstream to consider them bad. I see your point though and I can cut down on it around you if it bothers you at all.” Booker offered with a shrug, he figured he could consider people sometimes.

“I will, one of these days. And I’ll get back to you when I do with a full on review. Well. I might be stoned when I watch it so who knows what my thoughts will be. Watching horror movies while high? The best.” He grinned. “Good. And if something still happens after you say something, you can tell me and I’ll punch these people in the face because they can’t fire me, seeing as I don’t work there, of course.”
“I’m fucking holding you to it. And reviews from when you were stoned are better. So you’re right about that one. It’s the fucking best. We should probably do that sometime because it’s better with people.” He said and laughed. “Well, thanks. Good to know, man. Same goes to you.”

Soli laughed, “what a great answer. I love it!!” Soli smiled at her friend. “Okay sounds perfect, tonto!” Soli smiled and returned the hug and watched him head out. She waited patiently for a text to let her know that dinner would be ready.
“I knew you would.” He smiled back at her. He got her sense of humor and that was always nice to find in a friend, however, he couldn’t deny that she was extremely attractive. He sent her a text to let her know dinner was almost ready and waited around impatiently, but continuing to cook.

fykaito:
Nodding as Booker spoke, Kaito sent a warm smile his friends way. “Thanks,” he responded, his palm once again making gentle contact with the other man’s back in a few friendly pats. “Anyone of any significance yet? Or you still… sowing your wild oats?” Laughter bubbled forth with the term he himself had used and Kaito shook his head. “My pack would be so mad I’m better about this stuff with my friends than with them.”
“No problem.” He smiled and nodded at Kaito. “Oh god no.” He said and started laughing at the term he had used. “I mean, it makes sense that you would be. I mean, there’s a difference between pack and friends. There’s a different kind of bond there that changes how it feels, I guess?”

Lei’s cheeks flushed with both the expletive leaving Booker’s lips and the implication that he too, partook in a little dope smoking every now and again. “I don’t know… w-we can, if you want. And show me this coffee place.”
Booker chuckled, “Don’t like swearing, huh?” He asked. He could pick up on that pretty easily. “Alright, let’s go then.” He said and stepped out of the shop.

– “Alright, will do,” Rowan smiled brightly. “No, I haven’t. I uh– I moved here about four years ago, when I was sixteen. We used to live in Malibu but needed a change of pace. What about yourself?”
“So you came here of all places? Why here?” He asked with interest. “‘Cause Malibu seems like it’d be really nice. Nice weather all year and such.” He said with a shrug, “I only came here a couple years ago.”

“I guess not, if you want to keep your job. Do you wanna keep your job? And I’m sure you don’t wanna get sued, either. So… sadly, nah, you can’t.” She gasped happily and jumped up and down. “Yay! I can come by then. A specific time in the early afternoon or just… whenever?”
“I do want to keep my job. I kind of love my job.” He said and laughed. “Whenever. My day is pretty free. Tomorrow usually is so just stop by and I’ll see what I can do and where I can fit you in if I don’t have a bunch of walk ins.”

soli-barquero:
“So what are you then?” She tilted her head curiously. She knew he was white but wondered what kind of exotic white bread he was. Soli smiled at him, “an hour I can do that, I think.”
“White bread.” He said and smiled at her. “I’m mostly English and German.” He smiled again and nodded, “Alright, I’ll see you then with dinner ready.” He said and gave her a side hug before he headed back to his apartment. He got to working on dinner right away, in all honesty, a little nervous about her coming over.
