as much as i like cinder's grimm arm design-wise and conceptually, there's just. it's gotta go. spinning it into a majorly positive thing is nigh impossible, the negatives are just so overwhelming especially when cinder's desire for freedom is taken into account (which it obviously should lol)

cinder can't protect it with her own aura, yet she still feels the pain from it. she's weak to silver eyes, which she normally wouldn't be. it keeps spreading, destroying her body as it goes. salem can use it to torture her; they directly parallel this with the shock collar cinder was forced to wear at the glass unicorn.

cinder wants to be free, but the arm is a tool of control. cinder wants to be strong and powerful, but the arm gives her a weakness she can't eliminate without getting rid of it—something that isn't an easy task, as if it's just cut off, it regrows.

if the goal is for cinder to be truly free—to fix the mistakes of the past, to fix the broken heart the grimm beetle 'branded' on her back—, the grimm arm has to go.

Being a young adult is so strange. You enter a coffee shop. The 20 year old girl waiting behind you cried all night because she just came to a new city for university and she feels so alone. That 27 year old guy over there works a job he is overqualified for, he lives with his parents and wants to move out but doesn't know what to do about it. That one 24 year old dude already has a car, a house, and a job waiting for him once he graduates thanks to his dad's connections. The 26 year old barista couldn't complete his higher education because he has to work and take care of his family. The 28 year old girl sitting next to you has no friends to go out with so she is texting her mother. That couple (both 25 years old) are married and the girl is pregnant. The 29 year old writing something on her laptop has realized that she chose the wrong major so she is trying to start all over. We are not alone in this, but we are actually so alone. Do you feel me

Not yet summer, but unseasonable heat pries open the cherry tree.

It stands there stupefied, in its sham, pink frills, dense with early blooming.

Then, as afternoon cools into more furtive winds, I look up to see a blizzard of petals rushing the sky.

top five parabatai pairings and why GO !

will and jem - ofc it must be heronstairs. they are the epitome of parabatai to me. the love between them. the way they fit together like puzzle pieces. the loyalty and sacrifice. and the tragedy too. when i say lena is my parabatai, i mean in the way that will and jem are.

jules and emma - bc they were still parabatai for years, and their romantic love doesn't negate that.. i love the way they function in tandem. the way they can communicate so seamlessly and without words. the way they're each other's safe haven and support.

matthew and jamie - these boys.. the way they complement each other, and challenge each other. seeing them drift apart between nothing but shadows and tlh was painful, but it made them kinda relearning how to be good parabatai that much more special. bc now, the way they are there for each other feels that much more earned.

jace and alec - we don't get as many true parabatai moments between them i feel like, esp in the first half of tmi, but they still hold such a special place in my heart. they're brothers. and they're so funny together, esp by cohf when they're both settling more fully into their roles

clary and simon - tbh i still don't know how i feel about the meta of these two being parabatai. but i do love them both and i love their relationship. the way they ground each other. the way they've been through so so much and only come out stronger for it.. i love them
