TRY A CHAPTER #1 - Thoughts
I read the first chapter of these 5 books. And this is what I thought of them.
ps. I don’t know what the books are about, and I’m going in blindly.
AND THE MOUNTAINS ECHOED by Khaled Hosseini
The first chapter (15 pages) was a father who told his son a bedtime story about the div. It was really cute, but I have no idea what the book is about. But I am interested in reading more...
A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES by Deborah Harkness
I have this book in dutch, and it’s weird not to read in English. But actually the only reason this book is on my TBR is because my mom loved it and wants me to read it. But since it’s almost 700 pages, I never got around to it.
The first chapter was okay, but I think it was harder to read because it was in dutch. But I will probably read this book (and serie?) because of my mom. But I’m not sure I will read it now...
CARAVAL by Stephanie Garber
So I read the first two chapters of this book, because the first chapter were letters and not so much the story. I liked it and I know this is a book I will fly through. I heard about it when it was all hyped-up and since then I wanted to read it. And I will read it in the near future, I believe.
A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU by Claudia Gray
This is the book I wanted to read the most before, but never got around to it. So now that I read the first chapter, I am thrilled to continue in this book. Like Caraval I am sure I will fly through this book. And I really hope it matches my expectations, although I don’t know what the book is about.
LINCOLN IN THE BARDO by George Saunders
The last book... and this first chapter was confusing. I have abselutely no idea what it is about, or what even the chapter was about. I was not that into it. But to be fair, I only bought this book because I knew the title from instagram.
CONCLUSION
I am not that into Lincoln in the Bardo, but I am willing to give it a shot at some point, but I’m going to take it off my TBR.
I liked A Discovery of Witches and And The Mountains Echoed. But I’m not going to read them right now.
I was very into Caraval, but the book that I really want to read is A Thousand Pieces of You. So that is what I’m going to do

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! – When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.” (Jane Austen)

The Library of Nicholas II, tucked away in a corner of the Winter Palace which is now the home of the Государственный Эрмитаж.
This is my favourite room at the Hermitage – there are so many (many) opulent and beautiful rooms here, but this one is one of the smallest and quietest and, in a way, the most thoughtful and carefully crafted in its atmosphere.
