i love you media that emphasized mundanity. i love you media that says you still matter as a person even if you don't achieve something great. i love you media that says existing and being alive is enough. i love you "we might not remember your poems, but we'd remember you." i love you "i was no hero" "perhaps. but you are a brave man." i love "in another life i would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you." i love you "but who's gonna watch the deer?" i love you the mundane as something to be loved for
I recently discovered Lauren Faust, animator behind My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (which I design tees for at my job and think the designs/toys are cute but otherwise am not involved with) had an earlier project called Milkway and the Galaxy Girls. Which, for those who don’t know me, I adore a group of thematic cutesy fashionable girls who are preferably also doll lines. These had a limited run of plush dolls and you can find a lot of the artwork for it on her deviantart page as well as the website if you use internet archive. I found these there, they were free downloads for the site.
Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys with fan Paula Haynes, sometime in the 1970s.
I came across this beautiful write up on Instagram from November 18th, but I unfortunately don’t know who wrote it:
The Beach Boys lost a very special friend today. Paula Haynes, pictured here with Dennis, spent most of her life in a wheelchair. She also travelled all over the United States to see her favorite band and was especially close to Dennis Wilson. He often took her out to dinner, serenaded her at concerts, and surprised her with flowers. Here is a sweet story about their friendship, taken from the book “Denny Remembered.” Paula had been praying for Dennis and his brothers; in fact, whenever anyone would come up to Denny and talk about God, Denny would say, ‘Did Paula Haynes send you?’ {At one of the Washington DC concerts,} it was still raining when the other acts were performing. When The Beach Boys got up to play, as they hit the first note, the sun came out. Then over across from the drums, you could hear Denny yell, 'Paula’s praying again.’ “
