Pretty proud of this kid right here. For four years, she was blessed to be a part of something bigger than herself...The Pride of Bixby marching band. So, for four years she busted her ass running in the off-season, getting up and out to school at unGodly hours for early practice, hot summer days out in the marching grinder, and countless private lessons. In addition, she assumed a variety of leadership positions along the way. And while the 4 straight State Titles for the band meant so much to her, if you ask her I’m sure she’d be quick to tell you what she loved most was the love and mentorship provided by all of her band directors as well as the countless friendships she forged that will last throughout her lifetime. Saturday night, I was so moved when Kylie was awarded the Sousa Award. I felt a sense of pride in my beautiful daughter because I saw how hard she worked, and how much she cared. I felt humility, because I knew she couldn’t have achieved what she did without the help and support of her phenomenal band mates. And I felt a deep appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Parker, Mr. Collins, Ms. Vogt, and all the other directors and instructors that shaped, challenged, and taught Kylie over the last 4+ years. God bless you all, and thank you. It was a privilege watching our daughter grow up as a member of the Pride of Bixby. 🙏🏼 #bixbyband #prideofbixby
