1.04.018 release notes
Switched to DeepL's Next-Gen translation model. This is specifically for our translator module which translates item names as one of our background jobs, the logic of the module itself has not been changed yet.
Various improvements to <meta> tags, specifcally for SEO (embedding links on Discord, search engine look-up), DNS prefetching (images from booth/pixiv's CDN) and interaction on mobile phones.
Trimmed some queries that were not used for anything. Since the current website is going to be replaced with the rewrite soon, it was decided to remove said queries for a small speed gain.

Hello World: bringing back the long posts.
Hello everyone. It's been quite some time since we wrote something regarding the website/project in a blog-like setting. As a matter of fact, the last time we did that was on October 21st in 2024 to announce the release of 1.04.016. You could technically count the Patron-only post we did in November as well, which was purely to announce an adjustment in pricing for the tiers.
And some who have been reading those before might ask; "What happened to them?" or "Why did you stop doing them?", and that's a very fair question to ask!
One of the bigger contributors to ceasing making posts like these, besides the very obvious being because of the upcoming rewrite, is that the interface of the site we used to post these on (Patreon, for public viewing) was just.. not.. great.
A lot of functionality was not working well or just went straight up missing over time. Like the ability to add images or videos to posts. While it would be a great opportunity to add some here, there's still so much changing as the rewrite is being worked on that it would make the content posted as such outdated quick..
These issues drove us quite crazy and made it difficult for us to really get into a rhythm of sharing stuff that one simply can't fit into a Discord message, Bluesky post, Tweet-- you get the idea here.
But, as we have mentioned rather often at this point, we don't really like the idea too much of having everything be stuck inside a Discord server. While the Discord server for BOOTHPLORER serves as a very critical communication point about project to users and supporters, it should not be the only way for people to be able to stay in touch with ongoing happenings with the project. In addition, Discord is a chatting program and nothing else than that, something many people (ourselves included, at times) forget about a bit too often.
This is why we have decided to continue to push for improved/additional ways for us to share accurate and up to date information about (certain aspects of) the project. So, in the same spirit as the release of our status tracker this month, we have 'moved' to Tumblr as a way to host a 'blog' for the project.
In short, we will no longer be using Patreon to publish any kind of posts. And we might actually delete the existing ones at some point; this has more than one reason which we will elaborate on in the near future.
