i have so much gotham to catch up with once i'm back from my holiday omfg

that grin of his sent a shiver down the young billionaires spine. facing off  against the CORRUPT within his business felt like nothing in the face of this--  a man with what was becoming one of the darkest reputations in gotham.  bruce knew he’d be STUPID not to be intimidated. while he could retain his  dislike for the man, it was only wise to not get cocky. to have FEAR too. it  was what kept him on his toes. or, he hoped at least. 

“thank you, i’ll keep it in mind.” a smile of his own crossed bruce’s features  and he’s certain it comes across about as GENUINE as that of the man across  from him. it’s all for show. a DANCE and he has to make the right steps, play  things by other people’s rules for a change if he has any hopes of getting  what he wants. the last thing he needs is to go causing OFFENSE to oswald  and risk this conversation either ending-- or taking a darker turn. 

“jim gordon and i haven’t been in contact--” bruce cuts himself off almost  INSTANTLY-- takes a beat to purse his lips together and look down. he  swallowed before forcing the corners of his lips up and looking back to oswald.  “from what i’ve heard, jim seems pre-occupied. i wouldn’t want to trouble him  with anymore of my problems.” he’s already done ENOUGH OF THAT for a  lifetime. but he was avoiding the point-- purposely leaving details out because,  well, he hardly trusted the man opposite him. but he was also aware of the  fact that WITHOUT giving up details, bruce was unlikely to get what he so  desperate desired. 

so he changed pace again, refocusing. “but i suppose... you’re not WRONG.”  hesitating, hazel eyes linger over the man before him. “i DON’T want him to  know what i’m up to. i can’t afford for him to know and attempt to stop it.” 

 Oswald had absolutely no problem what so ever inGRINNING with approval towards Bruce’s words; he was probably going to call him Bruce anyway so there was no point refusing him and truly, despite Oswald’s honeyed words andPLEASANT demeanor, he didn’t care what this little snot thought. He was a toffee nosed little rich kid whose only realworth to a man like him was just that. Money. Name. NOTABILITY. 

 ❝ Well, don’t ever think that you’re not welcome to call me Oswald- or Penguin, if you prefer. ❞

 He said, reassuringly with a small shrug. As he thought; pompoms brat, but he did indeed know Bruce was here for a reason and that reason intrigued him greatly even though it was EASY to get an idea. He listened pointedly as the young man spoke, his halfway smirk never once wavering until he’d finished and THEN there was a slightly more questioning expression;  

 ❝ A monster hunt, huh? I’ve heard our GOOD FRIEND Jim Gordon has gone into the profession of bounty hunting; wouldn’t it be felicitous to contact him? ❞ 

 The half-smirk he wore returned now— Oswald leaning in slightly as he was far from finished with this. He knew Jim and Bruce were CLOSE, perhaps even sharing some kind of persudo father-son bond in a way and wasn’t it wholly common of children to do things BEHIND their parents and carers backs? 

  ❝Unless.. of course.. you don’t want him to know. ❞

SIX YEARS. it’s been six long years since he last set foot in gotham city.  when he left, he was still in a way, just a boy. a nineteen year old that needed  to find a PURPOSE in life-- a way to deal ( or try to ) with everything that had  happened to him since the day his parents died. now, he’s older-- hopefully  wiser. inside he still feels twisted by what happened, but he’s got a cause now.  he’s got his PLANS. she wasn’t a part of that plan. tracking her down after  the brief almost encounter-- seeing her in passing, him in the car, her crossing  the road--- NONE OF THIS was a part of his plan upon returning to the city.  but old habits die hard, and she was always one of the better things about  his life in gotham. 

so now here he stands, unsure if she’ll even remember him. SIX YEARS IS A  LONG TIME, especially at their age where everything changes and happens  so quickly. but he’s got to give it a chance-- alfred practically PUSHED him to  it, but he hardly put up a fight. mostly, he’s curious about the girl he knew. 

so he stands on campus, feeling wildly out of place, waiting for her. a smile on  his face, a hopeful look-- and what he hopes he’s remembering were her  favourite sweets.
