I’m not one to spend real money on video games.
But if you put the ‘Prismatic Expanse’ shader on it, it becomes THE gayest shark and I need a little joy in my life right now.

This kind of completionist behavior annoys me so much. Like good for you, you completed 4 months worth of content in 14 days, but did you do anything productive in your life?
Go wash a dish, or your laundry. Read a book, take a walk, something. Just be a person outside of your computer. Ffs.
"The new power grind in d2 is terrible!"
Yeah, I agree that it's pretty nuts-
"I grinded to 400 in 2 weeks running nothing but solo ops and now I'm burnt out!"
What the fuck is the matter with you?

Oh Didi, you tried so hard to give us something beautiful but it’s akin to a five year old’s macaroni art.
Can Bungie pull a Marvel and give us a high production value scene from ‘Oryx the Nightmare Daddy’ a la Rogers: The Musical? Please???
Here is the lore page for ‘Oryx the Nightmare Daddy’. This is from Forsaken -

How long are we waiting before we can post about Edge of Fate???
Cause I have thoughts and follow ups for this post.
Flowers in Destiny
Chrysanthemums
Tumblr media
I can't tell you how many times my husband and I rewatched the Edge of Fate trailer trying to decipher everything. But this one shot caught our eye and took us a good 10-15 minutes to figure out what kind of flower it is.
Our initial guesses were daisy, thistle, or chrysanthemum. After some research, I've concluded it's a chrysanthemum.
Like daisies and thistles, chrysanthemums belong to the Asteraceae family. They are native to East Asia or Northeastern Europe with most originating from East Asia. They are associated with the month of November and bloom in early autumn.
The meaning of chrysanthemums varies across cultures. Here in America, we view them positively, often using them for fall decor and are commonly sold as 'mums' at grocery stories, hardware stores, nurseries - pretty much anywhere you can buy plants.
In European, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean culture specific types are used to decorate cemeteries and funerals while others have no meaning at all.
During the Victorian period, red chrysanthemums symbolized, or said, 'I love' in floral arrangements, while a yellow one suggested a love that had been slighted.
As for this pink chrysanthemum, (I think it's pink, am I wrong?) I don't think it has any additional meanings to be aware of. All chrysanthemums are often associated with longevity, which is why they are featured so heavily at funerals and around the topic of Death.
The Nine and Chrysanthemums
On a whim, I googled '#9 and chrysanthemums'. I found the Double Ninth Festival, a celebration in China.
The Double Ninth Festival is an auspicious holiday celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese Calendar. It dates back to the Eastern Han dynasty. Traditionally, people celebrate by hiking and drinking chrysanthemum wine or liquor while wearing a piece of Japanese Cornel, a type of dogwood. Despite its name, it does originate from China!
It is a day where families will visit ancestral graves, clean them and honor them with an offering of a feast that is then consumed. It is also an opportunity to care for elderly members of the family.
There are two origin stories -
According to one the legend, during the Han dynasty, a Taoist monk told his disciple that disaster was coming on the ninth day of the ninth month. He advised his disciple to take food, chrysanthemum wine and branches of dogwood to the top of the mountain and stay there for safety that day. When his disciple and family returned, they discovered that their livestock had died. The cause varies, in some retellings the livestock were slaughtered violently, in others it was a plague.
In a different legend, the Empress was jealous of a Consort and had the latter's maid removed from the palace. The maid then told the common people that in the palace, it is customary to wear dogwood and drink chrysanthemum wine on the ninth day of the ninth month.
At this time, only one of these versions relates to Destiny 2/Edge of Fate.
Given what we know about the story for Edge of Fate, we know Keplar avoided the Collapse. Keplar and its inhabitants mirror the farmer in the first story. They survived the Collapse and the chaos that followed. Do I think this chrysanthemum is important to the plot? Probably not, but I do think it's a lovely cultural reference that adds more depth to the lore of Destiny.
Thanks for reading, especially if you made it all the way to the end! I've identified a few more flowers from the game that I want to go into detail about what their meaning is and how it relates to the game/lore. If you have any suggestions or flowers that you are curious about, let me know!
Edit: After watching the dev stream last night and getting another angle of the flower in Ikora’s hand, I’m fairly certain this is a Corinna Chrysanthemum.

I hope the glasses guy in the trailer has insane chemistry with the young wolf because I think it would be really funny if the young wolf, slayer of crota and all that, were dating a guy you could find at your nearest costco

This reminds me of college when my partner would text one of my friends to make sure I ate lunch/dinner.
Tumblr media
"And... I've got a favor to ask you. You know Moondust-Eris, I mean-has a habit of letting the hours fly by. You and I both know you can't accomplish much on an empty stomach."
"Besides, she's always on me about my ingredients. Just 'cause I can make do with alternatives in a pinch doesn't mean I don't know my spices!"
"Anyway, seeing as you're headed out there, will you drop off this meal I packed for her? It'll be worth your time. Trust."
Stop. That's adorable. Our feral street cat is becoming domesticated.

The Destiny community on Tumblr is the best version of itself. Creatives that love the world Bungie built, doing cool shit, and having actual genuine conversations about every aspect of it. I love coming here. Even when Destiny is out of my rotation or I'm feeling burnt out.

Same. Big same.
Every time my Tormentor grabs me, my heart freezes in my chest.
There is something fascinating about this action. When all the sounds around you are really compressed into a tight ball, everything around you no longer matters, and there is no one left but the Tormentor and you.
The Subjugators are elegant and smooth with their appearance, like ballerinas or ladies of the Victorian era. Tall and slender opponents, domineering and persistent, like queens.
And the Tormentor… And the Tormentor just turns on Mick Gordon's music, pulls a scythe towards him, and if you refuse him this cruel and rude invitation to dance with death…
You won't turn him down, because he'll take you sooner or later anyway, whether you want it or not.
I fucking love Tormentors.

Come hang out with us!
Are you looking for a Destiny 2 clan to join???
Do you like cats?
Maybe we’re the group for you! I’m the clan leader for StarCats Inc., a small 18+ clan that is actively looking for new members with like minded goals and vibes.
We’re a group that likes to play the story, we talk about lore frequently and deep dive on our own. So if you do too, we might be a good place for you to come chill!
We used to raid frequently in our old clan but currently don’t have the numbers for pick up raids, but if we can get some new members, that will change. We like to have fun when we raid but can be serious when needed.
DM me if interested and we’ll chat! If you’re part of a small clan already, maybe we can combine our powers for good? It’s hard out here, let’s help each other out!
We’re 🏳️‍🌈 and neurospicy individuals and the server clock is always set to 4:20.
