"I am not shy, I'm merely bored. They hang beautiful clothes on me and load me with jewelry, I step outside to say a few words to the people, and then I rush into my bedroom, tear off my finery, and write." - Elisabeth of Austria in conversation with Queen Elisabeth of Romania, 1880s

As a U.S citizen, the last election has had me in a rather. Revolutionary mood.
I've found myself more open to studying and understanding other types of governments. Because it's obvious now that capitalsm is bullshit and trash. I'm tired of my very rights and humanity being taken advantage of for the sake of a green piece of paper with some white dude on it.
Obviously I'm interested in communism (by the contents of this blog) but I will be honest, being born and raised to fear it has made me naturally wary. For me, the state being in so much control just... unsettles me. But then again, I have much to learn and would love for someone to help me understand communism more from a human perspective rather than the lies I have been fed.
As a note I am a stout Christian (becoming officially Catholic soon) so freedom of religion is important to me. In general, freedom of belief and existence is important to me. It's the "freedom" that the U.S was supposed to have for us. What a joke.
I've been raised in the Appalachian region of the United States. My father (biologically) was a coal miner before he was crushed in the mines. The echoes of the capitalist pigs that took advantage of miners and their families, even their children. They even created their own money in scrip to keep poor family's poor, taking advantage of them until several mining companies rioted (Ex. Matewan Massacre) and finally unions were established. Giving the workers power has been ingrained in my soul. But at the same time... I believe people should have rights to ownership of things like guns, of property, just... not in the way that it is now. Basic necessities should be given. But maybe not by the state? I just don't know... I hate to also be a part of a government thats put together like a shitty elementary school group project. It's great when workers want to work, and have proper workers rights... but what about the ones that don't...?
What a shame so many died for this, were FORCED to die for a country, thinking they were dying for freedom. The ones who survived are homeless and alone in the streets. It crushes my soul. They died for nothing. There has to be an answer.
