Brightened up the kitchen window with succulents in hanging glass globes. Also potted up some glass vases and clay pots with succulents.

Sunny day for planting a small container with parsley and alpine strawberry. Also planted an Amelanchier canadensis - good for berries.

A brisk walk around Gedling Country Park this morning with a coffee at Cafe 1899, followed by a trip to buy compost. Gedling Country Park is a positive example of a council juggling requirements for housing and infrastructure with benefits to people in the area. The park is on a former Collier site, and will eventually be surrounded by new housing, businesses and the new Gedling Access Road. Whilst people often do not welcome new developments, at least we have a lovely park with stunning views, meadows, woodland, some accessible paths, a playground and cafe. The so called countryside is not very accessible to all, and personally I prefer to facility such as this that is open, and free to all. #gedlingcountrypark #gedlingboroughcouncil #nottingham

Kale for dinner!
Yesterday we picked some black kale (sown last year) from the garden for dinner. The leaves were small and tender, probably the best kale I have ever eaten. It was great to be able to eat something fresh from the garden at this time of year, and a reward for persevering with the plants through last summer when they were devoured by cabbage white caterpillars. The only other pickable leaves are from salad burnet - very handy at this time of year.

A selection of edible leaves we grew in the garden last year. How many can you name?
