Anyone who's been paying attention knows where I stand when it comes to the freedom of Palestine. As a roleplay help blog, I've tried to best keep up to date and avoid suggesting z*onists. After many requests I'm now posting the links publicly. The lists have been researched by not only myself but credit goes to the user leepacey for her amazing list which you can find here, and the Instagram users z*onistsinfilm and z*onistsinmusic.
Please note that the lists are ever growing and evolving as new information comes to light and I take suggestions (with proof) for both lists.
celebs who have shown support for isr*el / z*onists 👎
celebs who have shown support for palestine 🇵🇸
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

I know for a fact that this has been posted elsewhere on Tumblr, but I wanted to share this:
This is a document ful of resources about things you can do politically that are not voting or going to protests. As a disabled person who struggles at protests, this is incredibly valuable. It has tons of resources about mutual aid, political education, migrant justice, disability justice, and much much more.

a whole bunch of gazan mutual aid projects and nonprofits. if the decision of which individual fundraiser to give to feels too daunting, or if you just want to help as many people as possible in one go, these are great initiatives to support.
care for gaza - focuses on providing food and essential supplies. donate here or here.
connecting humanity - securing internet access via donations of virtual sim cards (esims). if you can't afford a whole plan yourself, crips for esims is a communal pool that will use your donation to purchase and maintain esims
gaza soup kitchen - provides food, medical care, and classes for children. also has a gofundme
glia gaza medical support initiative - provides medical care through field clinics and tents at hospitals. donations can also be sent through their website.
ele elna elak - provides clean water, food, clothing, and shelter. they also have a gofundme
life for gaza - raising money for the gaza municipality to repair water and waste management infrastructure
taawon - partners with local civil organizations to provide food, water, medical care, shelter, and basic supplies
the sameer project - running various initiatives providing tents, medical care, and necessities. they have their own encampment project focused on sheltering families with children, sick and disabled members, or members in need of perinatal care
islamic relief worldwide's gaza emergency appeal - provides food, water, hygiene kits, medical supplies, and psychological support
baitulmaal - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, shelter, and medical supplies
gaza mutual aid fund - distributes food, hygiene products, water, and other essential supplies, including financial support. run by @/el-shab-hussein's amazing friend Mona. updates can be found on her instagram.
hygiene kits for gaza - provides hygiene supplies including menstrual products, wipes, and toothbrushes/toothpaste
anera - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, hygiene supplies, medicine, blankets and mattresses, and psychological care
palestine children's relief fund - provides supplies and support with a focus on children. also has an initiative for lebanon
dahnoun mutual aid - provides water, food, tents, baby supplies, financial support, and other necessities. updates can be found through their instagram
certainly this is not an exhaustive list, so please feel free to add on other projects or organizations that i didn't include. and as always, please take the time to donate if you can and share. it truly makes all the difference.

How to Set Up a Beginner Witch Altar
An altar is a sacred space where you focus your energy, perform rituals, and connect with your craft. It can be simple or elaborate—it’s all about what feels magical to you.
1. Choose a Space
• A shelf, nightstand, box, windowsill, or desk
• Keep it private or discreet if needed
• Cleanse the area before setting up
2. Basic Altar Items
You don’t need everything—start with what you have:
• Candle – for fire & focus
• Bowl of water – for emotion & cleansing
• Salt or soil – for earth & grounding
• Incense or feather – for air & thought
• Crystal, plant, or object of power – your anchor
• Offering dish – coins, herbs, shells, etc.
• Personal item – something that connects you to your spirit (jewelry, photo, charm)

3. Optional Additions
• Deity or ancestor symbols
• Tarot deck or pendulum
• Written affirmations or sigils
• Seasonal items (flowers, leaves, fruit, bones, etc.)
• Journal or Book of Shadows nearby
4. Keep It Alive
• Cleanse your altar regularly
• Switch it up with the moon or seasons
• Use it for meditation, spellwork, or simply sitting in sacred stillness
Your altar is a mirror of your magic. Make it yours.

Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's

If you have an address within the United States, PLEASE consider taking sixty seconds to visit https://protectmypublicmedia.org to protest the executive order recently put in place to cut funding to vital public education and media programs such as PBS, PBS Kids, and NPR (national public radio).
PBS funds The American Experience show, which creates hour-long documentaries about American history. They frequently feature minority groups, African-American history, and missteps the government has made over the years. My favorites are the Love Canal doc, The Polio Crusade (which covers the march of dimes), and the history of American Eugenics doc. Watching their videos with your adblocker disabled is an easy way to give them money.
A PBS passport also only costs $5 a month minimum and provides access to a host of other content.
PLEASE take a moment to do send an email to your rep and sign the petition in the link below. This is vitally important programming which disproportionately benefits the poorest and most marginalized, but is still incredibly enjoyable even to those who don't need it. And remember: an uneducated public is an oppressed public.

I was today years old. That is disgusting.
No Child Left Behind is one of the worst things to ever be incentivized in schools. It was signed into law when I was 14. Reading Rainbow was my show as a kid. LeVar Burton played a big part in why I became an avid reader to date. The joy of it. It's an adventure around the globe and through different time periods without stepping on a plane or time machine.
Children parrot behavior. In grade school, I always wanted to read the same amount of books as my teachers (50 books) and managed to double that each year. Before No Child Left Behind, book fairs and Scholastic catalogs were a serious matter like your grandma's Fingerhut catalogs. Libraries were (and still are) a wonderland.
Reading comprehension and proficiency in schools has been declining for decades. A crisis. The joy of books isn't pushed anymore and I'm always saddened by it. It's one of the reasons why I post my book reviews and recommendations on here, as well as posts from others to encourage reading and (novel) writing. Kids will parrot your behavior while the education system sadly fails to return as that example.

Glamour Witch Secrets You Don’t Hear Every Day 🩷
Little-known glamour witch tricks to weave magic into your daily beauty rituals.
These spells are subtle, powerful, and hidden in plain sight — perfect for charging your aura with charm, confidence, and magnetism wherever you go.
• Charm your reflection: Before you leave the house, trace a sigil for confidence or beauty onto your mirror with rosewater or moon water. Let your reflection “absorb” the spell.
• Enchant your makeup brushes: Lightly brush them over a charged crystal (like rose quartz or selenite) before applying your makeup to infuse your look with a specific energy.
• Lip gloss spells: As you apply your lip gloss or lipstick, speak your intentions softly (“My words weave beauty and charm,” “I radiate irresistible energy”).
• Perfume potions: Mix a few drops of essential oil (like ylang ylang or jasmine) with your perfume to enchant your aura with attraction, joy, or mystery.
• Color magic in your outfits: Even tiny things, like your socks or hair clips, can carry color magic. Choose secret colors based on your spellwork that day (pink for love, blue for calm, gold for success).
• Earrings as talismans: Charge your earrings under the full moon or over incense smoke. Every time you wear them, imagine them guarding your energy and amplifying your glamour.
• Aura mist: Make a body spray with rose water, a little vanilla, and clear quartz chips. Mist it over yourself before going out to leave an invisible trail of enchantment.
• Mantra while doing hair: As you style your hair, repeat: “Every strand glows with charm and power.” Imagine each lock catching the light and magnifying your magnetism.

Crystals for Dream Work & Psychic Sleep
Because the spirit realm never sleeps — but you should.
If you’ve ever wanted to lucid dream, receive messages in your sleep, or just rest with deeper clarity… crystals can help open that dream door. Here are some of my favorites for dreamy nights and magical insight:
1. Amethyst
Vibe: Calming, protective, crown chakra opener
How I use it: Tucked under my pillow or held during meditation before bed
What it helps with: Deep sleep, dream recall, and blocking nightmares
Feels like: Being wrapped in gentle purple fog while your soul wanders safely
2. Labradorite
Vibe: Mystical, intuitive, interdimensional
How I use it: On my nightstand with a few drops of mugwort oil
What it helps with: Astral travel, spirit messages, psychic downloads
Feels like: A portal in a stone. Dreaming in symbols and signs.
3. Lepidolite
Vibe: Soft, tranquil, healing
How I use it: In a pouch with lavender and slipped into my pillowcase
What it helps with: Anxiety at night, overthinking, emotionally healing dreams
Feels like: Being sung to sleep by a crystal lullaby
4. Moonstone
Vibe: Feminine, fluid, lunar
How I use it: In a dream water bowl or worn as a ring while sleeping
What it helps with: Connecting with moon energy, emotional dream cycles
Feels like: Dreaming by the ocean on a full moon
5. Herkimer Diamond
Vibe: Amplifying, clearing, spiritually sharp
How I use it: Placed beside another dream crystal to amplify it
What it helps with: Lucid dreaming, dream recall, clarity in visions
Feels like: A flashlight cutting through dream-fog
Bonus Ritual:
Create a “Dream Grid” by placing a few of these crystals in a circle under your bed or near your head. Add a dream journal nearby and some mugwort or blue lotus tea for extra dream-enhancing energy.
Dreaming is divination.
Sleep is sacred.
& your soul knows exactly where to go.

ADVICE FOR BEGINNER PRACTITIONERS
Tumblr media
I'm a generational witch and have worked in the craft for around 10 years, with some experience in conjure. I'd like to disclaim that I am still fairly young - but I feel as though I've gathered a decent well of knowledge. And thus, as I connect with others in this community, I'd like to share it.
1. Know what type of work you're actually doing.
"Witchcraft" is a blanket term often used to describe any type of ritualistic manifestation, however, not all of what you may regard as 'spellwork' is considered to be witchcraft. You see, at their core, any spells, workings, or prayers are examples of folks working with energy to achieve a desired outcome. Many religions that denounce or don't explicitly link themselves to witchcraft manipulate energy in their practices in very similar ways to witches themselves. However, these religions still do not consider what they're doing to BE witchcraft - this could be because of stigma or a variety of different things, but it's usually important to respect this because if you ignore the origins of your work, then you'll miss important cultural context - and the history of any items used or deities called upon DOES affect the results of any ritual significantly. There are also closed practices in which only certain people can work with a type of energy because of heritage, location, age, gender, etc. Participating in closed practices when you are not invited is not only disrespectful, but it can also be extremely dangerous because you can anger the gods of that practice and spirits that have been venerated for thousands of years. This can result in horrible misfortune.
So, to summarize, when you're conducting rituals created by other people or working with gods or spirits venerated by others, it is extremely important to learn the history (mythos, examples of previous use, etc) and cultural background of what it is that you're doing. It may take longer, but your results will be better and you also won't accidentally put yourself in harm's way. This doesn't so much apply to extremely simple things like lighting a white candle to honor a recently passed relative, because it's common knowledge that thousands of cultures around the world have done that for years. But if when researching rituals and whatnot you find something completely unfamiliar to you, do NOT try and work with it until you've looked into it more.
2. People Lie
There is a small number of people who knowingly practice witchcraft or similar works. There is an even smaller percentage of people who tell the truth about their experiences and are skilled enough to make spells work consistently. It is easy to become a 'real' witch, but we are rare in Western society for a variety of reasons - a big one being that it takes lots of time and research. Many people who claim to be psychics or 'witches' are either scam artists, in psychosis, or are too ignorant to realize the errors in their craft that are preventing their spells from working - and they brag about them anyhow as if they do work. It is important to understand that, while you are learning about witchcraft or consuming content related to it, people are going to lie to you. Many people will exaggerate their anecdotes or just makeup stories altogether, either for recognition or to sell a product. On the other hand, witchcraft is WEIRD. Things that shouldn't be possible become more common, and it opens your eyes to the fact that some things just can't be explained with science. In my personal experience, at the beginning of my craft, my spells would manifest slowly as odd coincidences, but now I can control the timing of my work much better, and - since I am more experienced - the results are more effective and shocking than they were five years ago. So, in conclusion, some things that may sound like lies can actually reveal themselves to be true - and the world is actually that much stranger than you thought, while other things that seem fictitious just are. Thus, it's important to ensure you trust any source you may be getting information from - even from me, your dearest Nicasia.
3. Your results aren't going to be consistent at first.
This kind of piggybacks off of the last piece of advice, but when you're a beginner witch without any enchantments already active for whatever reason, it's unlikely that everything you do is going to work - and that is okay. I remember finding this very discouraging when I first started because I thought that if my spells didn't work, it meant that witchcraft itself wasn't real and everything I was doing was stupid. But spellwork is a very old and complicated practice, so when you're a beginner, it can be easy to make mistakes. Like I've said, as I've become more experienced, my spells are more effective. I'd say they work about 85% of the time now as opposed to my former 20, and the sole reason for this is that I'm more knowledgeable. Practice makes perfect, and even the elders can fail sometimes. Spells can fail for a variety of reasons. It can be because of the moon phase, your poor mental health or lack of subconscious belief, unstable energy, previous blocks, etc. Sometimes you can do everything perfectly and your ancestors or spirit guides just won't let something manifest because it's not meant for you - even to the point of your supplies going missing out of the blue. What's important is that you keep trying.
**If you don't have mental health issues, are currently living a privileged lifestyle, or have never been cursed before - this next part likely doesn't apply to you, but certain people will need to do uncrossing or road-opening work to begin spellwork. People can bind your energy, and thus your ability to do witchcraft, and you can even do this to yourself by overthinking too much. Many witches preach beginners learning protection magick first, and I agree that's usually a good idea, but there are cases where you gotta make sure your gates are open before you can receive iykwim.
4. You Don't Need to Spend Money to Have Effective Spells
As with all 'cool people' things, witchcraft is done best when you get creative. In Hoodoo / Conjure, a closed practice of African American folk magic, there's an emphasis on the fact that slave magick was created by those who literally had nothing and just had to learn to work - in secret - with the energy of what they had on hand. It is 1000% doable to do witchcraft without investing in expensive crystals, oils, and herbs. Don't get me wrong, the more you put into your craft the more you can get out - whether it be effort or money, and sometimes expensive supplies are genuinely just better. But if you have a strong intention and know how to call upon the right spirits, you can literally do witchcraft just by thinking. Don't limit yourself by thinking that since you can't afford to buy the angelica root in a spell posted online, you have no chance of doing it successfully. That's when you research substitutions and build upon that ritual to your needs until you finally have your own spells.
5. People are assholes
People suck. When and if you choose to tell people about your craft, you're going to get mixed reactions. Be very careful about who you tell, because witchcraft is very misunderstood and misunderstanding leads to hate and violence. Some people may even respect your work but inform you they don't believe in it: Which is fine, but this may affect your confidence in witchcraft and spells. Thus, sometimes, it's better to keep things to yourself. I'm a very anxious person, and many of my personal friends don't even know I'm a witch for this exact reason. I've found that my craft works better when I don't tell people about it. When I do workings concerning other people, even if they've specifically asked me to do them, I often won't tell them when exactly I conduct their spell. This is because I don't want them overthinking and second-guessing themselves, therefore closing themselves off to receive any new energy.
Opinions and facts matter, remember that. But above all, have confidence in yourself and your craft - and of course, stay safe.

What is Trancework?
Tumblr media
Trancework is the majestic art that I like to refer to as Magic Floppy Time. Trance naturally happens when you set your body to a simple repetetive task with some kind of rhythm either built in or in the background. It is not a religious experience by itself. It happens when driving in the rain with the windshield wipers going. It can happen while reading or doing the dishes for an extended period of time. These things happen on accident which means that this is something our bodies and minds were built to do and it does not require training to get the basics. But if you want to do it on purpose and learn to do some really neat things with it, that would take some skill development. And that is what trancework is--trancing on purpose. What does it feel like? Trancing is rather like sleepwalking. If you slip into it without realizing it then you will really only become aware of it once you start to wake. At that point you somewhat suddenly come back to your senses with absolutely no idea how much time has elapsed since you were last fully conscious. You may just feel a little disoriented and possibly a little groggy. However, if you slip into a trance while fully conscious of it, you will likely feel a few effects. There is a spectrum of normal at play in trancework--which is to say that there are a good number of sensations that can be experienced. For some it may feel like a narrowing of the field of vision, for others it may feel like your consciousness is pulled into either your stomach or right above your head. Still others may just feel a bit woozy or they may feel like their bodies are locked into a particular motion and that they cannot make themselves stop doing it.
Hold out your hands and spin in a field for about 20-30 seconds and then either stop or just try to stop. That's what it feels like. And the reason that is what it feels like is because that is actually a method of getting yourself into a trance on purpose. While any simple repetetive motion can get you into an altered state, the heavy hitters are movements that disrupt the body's equillibrium--that sense of balance in your inner ear. This is why dancing is so strongly linked to trancework and it is why I refer to trancework as Magic Floppy Time. It is because the movements of the body become more and more relaxed as you get into an altered state. You largely surrender your spine for a while and get... well... floppy.

(Playing with the big drum, aka Making Magic Boom-Boom)
Why does this happen?
I have my theories. I personally think that our bodies do this to conserve energy. If you are going to be doing the same activity for a while and utilizing just a select group of muscles to do it, your body will eventually just relax the ones it doesn't really need. Same with the mind. If you don't need it to make decisions or take in the sensory environment, it starts to relax everything that it doesn't need. The unused parts of your brain and body start going night-night.
Is trancework religious or not?
It can be if your religion has a purpose for it. Trancework can have a profound impact on the psyche and it is strongly associated with meditation, chanting, and prayer recitation. So, either we started doing this as a means of reaching towards the spiritworld OR we started praying and noticed this happened as a byproduct. It doesn't have to be an either / or really. The end result is that trancework is and has been used by a lot of religions.
It is also something that just naturally happens during repetetive physical labor. Like mining, weaving, spinning thread, rowing a boat, threshing, kneading, etc. Most pre-industrial occupations involve trancework at some point in the process so it has been a useful tool in the workplace. Think of the musical traditions associated with things like fulling/ wauking, seafaring, and chain gangs. These are secular examples of people using trancework on purpose to coordinate their labor together with others.
Trancework can be secular or religious, it just depends on what you are trying to do and how you go about it.
How do I do it on purpose?
Put on some music with a good beat, give your body permission to relax into it deeper every few bars, close your eyes a little or all the way, sway your shoulders in a figure 8 and let that whole body just go with it. Imagine your body moving like water and let it happen. Say bye-bye to your thoughts. They do not matter. Picture a flowing image--a river flowing around the base of a mountain, a gust of wind carrying a little bird on an adventure, a serpent eating its tail... whatever floats your boat. After about 10-20 minutes of this, allow yourself to slump over, give away all excess energy, and just flop somewhere comfy. Let yourself return to consciousness gradually. When you do, have a snack and drink some water. Do something relaxing like taking a shower or a nap. That's pretty much it.
What if I want to use trancework to do something magical or religious?
Trancing is a skill. You can be good at it and you can be bad at it. It is something that you can improve at over time and with experience. Once you can get into an altered state on purpose reliably and get yourself back out again safely every time, you can then start exploring the other things trancework can be used for. Things associated with magic like: Divination Bilocation Shapeshifting
Or things associated with spirit-based religion like: Possession Mediumship
Or things associated with religion like: Deity Bridalwork Presence Ceremonies
Each of these things have unique structures to the rituals that will get you through them successfully. Think of them like recipes. Because there is a physical and neurological component to trancework, this is not a matter of making up whatever you want or doing what you think makes sense. You can absolutely do that but you will not get the same outcome as what someone who uses a traditional method of doing so would get. If you smoke bacon but call it bread, you're only really fooling yourself. The tried and true recipe gets you the predictable result. (I have to mention this because there are A LOT of modern trancework practices out there that are not based in anything traditional--they're just something someone made up because they moved around it made them feel tingly and they assumed it was the same thing as what the traditional folks were doing. It really isn't. No matter where you go on this planet, traditional trancework functions in the same spectrum of ways. It really is an exact recipe and you can't make changes to the load bearing aspects of it and expect to get the same results. Technique matters.)
If you look around on this blog you will find loads of posts on how to get into the more complicated forms of trancework and what exactly those are used to do. So, I recommend starting there or reaching out to someone who has ties to traditional forms of trancework who can walk you through the exact kind of thing you want to do.
What other beginner questions do you have? Did I miss any? Let me know how I can help!
