Ready To Say Goodbye To Neck Pain?
Neck pain is a common ailment that many suffer from. It is mostly caused by tense muscles, which are a consequence of postural irregularities such as sleeping in an awkward position, working for long hours on the computer without moving, etc. Most often, it is not of the kind of pain that calls for medical attention and goes away on its own in a matter of days.
However, if the symptoms persist for an extended period of time (three months or longer), it is considered to be chronic neck pain. If the pain becomes chronic, psychological stress is frequently a factor.
Causes of neck pain
Weak and overused neck muscles – This involves sitting in awkward positions for long periods of time which may cause pain and stiffness in the neck or shoulder areas. Muscle problems in the neck area can also be caused by activities involving tilting your head back against your neck.
Wear and tear of the cervical spine – As one ages, various signs of wear and tear surface in the spine. Such signs include spinal discs becoming flat, small bone growths (known as spurs) forming along the edges of the vertebral bodies, etc. Such changes make it harder to move the neck.
Whiplash – If somebody drives into the back of your car in a car accident, the injury that you experience is known as whiplash. Such a collision causes the head to rapidly jerk forwards and then back again which causes injuries in the muscle and connective tissue.
Slipped disk or narrowing of the vertebral canal – Neck pain may occur if the vertebral canal is too narrow or if spinal disk tissue bulges or leaks out and puts pressure on a nerve root.
Miscellaneous causes – Conditions such as inflammatory conditions of the spine, jaw joint problems or severe headaches also cause neck pain.
Diagnosis
A thorough diagnosis of neck pain begins with your doctor asking you several pertinent questions. He or she may ask you whether you’ve been in an accident, where exactly it hurts, and whether you have mental stress of any sort that might be playing a role in your neck pain. Next, the physical examination may be performed so that the possibility of any serious causes may be ruled out. Physical examination may include feeling your neck with their hands, checking how well you can move your head, as well as checking your reflexes and muscle strength in your arms and shoulders. If signs of serious disease are found, an x-ray or an MRI scan or a CT scan may be ordered.
Treatment
Nothing can be said for sure regarding the effectiveness of most of the treatment methods for non-specific neck pain as there isn’t enough research conducted. Application of heat using a hot water bottle or cushion is one of the solutions for mitigating pain. Other treatments include massage, ingesting painkillers, and doing stretching and strengthening exercises.

Ready To Say Goodbye To Back Pain?
Tumblr media
Anyone who is experiencing or has experienced back pain would be quick to say that there is nothing worse than a sore and painful back. It hurts while sitting. Standing, too. It can be impossible to sleep peacefully. Performing routine daily activities such as cooking, playing, driving, sitting in a chair at work, and so many others, all become the most unpleasant of experiences, and impossible to ignore.
You may have been told that there is nothing that can be done about back pain and that getting used to living with a sore back is the only option. Well, according to chiropractors, that notion is entirely a fallacy. Getting rid of back pain isn’t something that happens overnight, but with regular chiropractic care, the root of the problem will be successfully addressed and you’ll be able to enjoy and take part in life again.
Causes of back pain In most cases of back pain, the cause remains unknown. A doctor cannot identify the cause with a test or an imaging study. The most common conditions that are likely to result in back pain include:
Muscle or ligament strain
Repeated heavy lifting
A sudden awkward movement
Structural problems
How is back pain diagnosed?
Usually, back pain is diagnosed only by a physical examination in which your doctor may test your ability to stand and walk, the range of motion of your spine, your ability to detect sensations in your legs, and your reflexes. If your doctor suspects some serious condition, he may order tests such as x-ray, blood and urine tests, CT scan, MRI, EMG, etc.
Traditional treatments for back pain
The most common treatments for back pain include medications (such as rubs, ointments, muscle relaxants, or antidepressants) and surgery.
Alternative forms of treatment & Chiropractic care
There is an alternative therapy that is very effective in dealing with back pain: chiropractic care. A chiropractor will first perform a complete assessment of the injury, associated pain, flexibility, lifestyle habits, exercise regimen, and day-to-day routine. After that,  he deems it necessary, he may order tests such as x-ray, among others. The chiropractor will recommend the best treatment option based on the scope of your injury and your pain. Generally, a chiropractic adjustment is most effective in relieving pain, pressure, and stiffness in your back; your chiropractor may also suggest either physical therapy or postural restoration. With regular visits to your chiropractor and a self-care routine that will likely include stretching, exercise, and some lifestyle changes, you’ll soon start feeling better.
