Calling All Artists!

Hello, Destiel fans! Do you love seeing the boys suffer? Do you want to draw their misery? Do you want to work with an amazing writer to convey every bit of pain possible?

The Destiel Angst Bang is seeking artists for this purpose! There is a little more than one month open for registration, and we have a ton of fantastic stories coming out!

Claims will be held on March 8. Artists will be required to create one art piece and one banner for any story or stories they select.

I was just about to repost the rules, but no worries I'll just answer here! (Schedule Below)

Rules :

The Bottom Dean Big bang is a creation event with Dean bottoming as a focus, while the premise definitely is inherently sexual, you do not have to include sexually explicit scenes. If you wish to include them, please be sure to follow the bang rules as listed below. Because of the nature of this bang, all participants should be above the age of 18. Rules will be available both here on Tumblr and in the discord. (updated as of January 2025) Warnings: -At this time, this bang is a Destiel Centric event.                   - At this time, all written works should be in English                   - All sexual situations are to be between characters that are over the age of 18. We expect all participants to respect all other participants in the bang and on the server.

Writers:

You need to be 18 years or older to participate 

The minimum word count for this bang is 10k 

There is no listed maximum word count, however the work must be a complete, stand alone work at the time of posting. You may not post this serially. (You can however use chapters of course)  

You may co-author your work but the information for both participants needs to be included upon sign ups (you can sign up separately but place the others name in the “things mods need to know”) 

Drop outs happen, if that is the case please inform the MODS right away. There is no repercussions BEFORE art claims. 

When submitting your claims information, you will need to include a rating (we will be using the AO3 ratings). If you are unsure at the time of sending this information, you should rate higher than necessary in case it does become explicit. 

You can only write one fanfic for this challenge (this includes those who are co-authoring, you may not also write solo). The fic must be previously unpublished and cannot be discussed in public forums.

You may post on whichever platform you like, but it must be able to be publicly viewed. We will have an AO3 collection set up (information on this will come later) and you will need to submit your fic information to the blog.

All artwork must be embedded in your fic when you post. If you are unsure of how to do this, we will be more than willing to assist you. 

When your posting day comes around, you will also need to submit the required information for the masterpost to our blog so we can publish it.

Extensions can be granted upon communication with the MODs. We know life happens, just communicate with us. 

Artists: 

You must be 18 or older to participate

You may claim more than one fic, provided that you will be able to give each claim the same attention. You may only claim an additional fic if there are unclaimed fics at the end of the first round of claims. 

WIP art of the claim cannot be posted publicly. (save that for your posting date!) Space will be provided upon the discord for you to share with your fellow artists. 

If you need to drop out, you absolutely must contact the mods. You may drop out without repercussions anytime before art claims. If you need to drop out after you have claimed a fic, you must contact the mods immediately so a pinch hit can be arranged. 

If you claim a fic you must create a title banner (which will be published first with the promotions) and one piece of art at a minimum. If you wish to create more, that is up to you.

Banner images must be at least 540px wide in order to correctly format for Tumblr.

You may post on whichever platform you like, but it must be able to be publicly viewed. We will have an AO3 collection set up (information on this will come later) and you will need to give the links to where your art is published to your writer so they can submit their masterpost information to the blog.

If you are not ready by the time your posting day comes along, you will need to let us know prior so that we can agree any extension time with you and your Author. 

Author and Artist: For our wonderful overachievers!  Simultaneously writing and completing art for this challenge will be allowed. However, anyone choosing to do so will only be allowed to claim a fic to complete art for after all artists have made their claims. You will not be able to claim your own fic

Hi there! Just to confirm, did you mean January 24th? Or am I wildly off on the date of Dean's bday?

I meant the 19th, for some reason that was in my brain as Dean's birthday but I could be entirely incorrect. However the date on the calendar is the 19th! So if I am off about that, it is entirely my fault lol.

My art for @deanpollo's incredible story Intertwined, for the @bottomdeanbigbang!

As a junkie for apocalypse fiction, I absolutely devoured The Last of Us. So when I saw an SPN/TLOU fusion up for claims this round, I was desperate to get my hands on it. And boy did I get lucky getting the chance to work on such an amazing story! It's so wonderfully tense and will take you on such an emotional journey, I hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I did. @deanpollo was a great partner to work with and I really enjoyed our collaboration.

I spent several weeks working on title art, and it's one of my favorite paintings I've finished all year. I wanted to create something that merged the imagery of a burnt-out/dead angel vessel with a cordyceps fungal wall growth/victim. The painting is 20"x16" with a lot of detail work including metallic/interference watercolors. Here are some close-up images—it's also available in my Redbubble shop now on prints and other merch.

Note: This is a sort of Post-Finale Fix-it Fic. In this universe, s15e18 didn't happen. So, Chuck is defeated and the Team Free Will 2.0 is living a happy normal life with minimum hunting. Cas and Dean are still "just friends," but I assure you they won't be at the end of this fic.

Since this mod has been slightly sleep deprived, Author Sign Ups for this years Bang will remain open until midnight EST on March 19th!

With that being said there are a few minor changes in schedule, just giving more room for this clerical error, but it works out in our authors favor! Below is the updated schedule!

Hello everybody. I hope this works because I wanted to know one or two things. I read about this bang a while ago, and I think I would like to sign up (as a writer).

Is it right that I will write the story and an artist will create a piece of art then, or is it a misunderstanding from my part? I read through the rules and the schedule, but I couldn't find an answer and I'm quite confused. I'm sorry 🙈 Can you maybe help me?

Absolutely no worries, and sorry this took so long as I had not gotten the notification! So the author writes their story and once the story is mostly done the mods will ask for some information from the author. This info includes things like: quick summary, visual elements, warnings, and rating. Then what the MODs will do is put that information together on some form of clean little document and submit it to the artists. From there the artists will look at each stories information and choose what they think would fit best their own visual style! this part is called claims. Artist will then claim the fic via another document (similar to the sign up sheet) and the process will continue until all stories that are written are claimed by an artist.

When both the art and the fic are completed they are posted together! You can look back on some of our past years works to see that in action! I hope this helped clear things up!
