I feel like I’m the only one who thinks that Yunos story was good and low-key that’s crazy. I see people talk about “oh they want us to hate Yuno”

NO YUNO IS HAVING SURVIVORS GUILT AND THINKS SHE DESERVED TO BE HATED

She’s clearly dealing with some internal problems. When someone writes internalized homophobia its peak but internalized misogyny is where we draw the line? And when I say survivors guilt I don’t just mean with the fetus I also mean with Mahiru as well. The fact that Yuno was so close to having a kid, THE THING THE PERSON SHE WAS CLOSEST TO WANTED, but lost it recontextualized how she saw what happened. I think Yuno did at one point just not care about losing the baby till she got closer with Mahiru. I see it as Yuno wishing she could give the baby she was going to have to Mahiru, someone who would’ve loved and cared for the baby.

Also people are saying “oh if she fell accidentally why is she here?” Milgram CLEARLY has a different definition of what murder is them the average person. I mean Kazui and Mahiru are here and they don’t fit the average definition of murder either! Kazui confessed his true feelings about his relationship and his wife fucking killed herself and Mahiru was suffocating her boyfriend with the way she loved which made HIM kill himself.

People have been loving to throw around the worst “misogynistic” when it comes to Yunos writing but it feels like you guys are being the misogynistic ones

OK OK HERE ITS CONFIRMED THAT YUNO WAS BORN IN 2004

So from my whole theory with that the milgram prisoners come in from different time periods around the 2010s seems to be right. As milgram started in 2020 but she would’ve been 16 by then, and would’ve only been 18 by 2022. It seems Yuno was taken into milgram from the future, which is really interesting to me. As it seems for this session we’ve got prisoners from the 2010s and 2020s and did not all commit in 2020 when the series started, and were bought in from different time periods around the decade.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Child Sexual Abuse , Underage Prostitution , Child Abuse , Sibling Incest Mention

I gotta talk about Ima Tsukumo.

Note that this whole post is specifically regarding the Ending Zero Route, aka the first hundred days. Maybe we learn something in another route that changes things but for now I’m going off of what I’ve seen of Ending Zero.

But MAN I went into this game thinking I was gonna hate Ima, I really did. And, in the beginning, I definitely didn’t like him too too much, but I was shocked that I…didn’t hate him? Like, when he’s not talking about his sister (rare) he’s legitimately incredibly perceptive and lowkey hilarious.

But his constant domineering of his sister (and incest-y sounding lines) was definitely holding him back for me, especially when we get to Day 52 and his treatment of Kako.

But.

Then something happens.

Kako stands up for herself, and wants Takumi’s help convincing Ima to let her fight. Obviously this goes over badly as Ima immediately makes Takumi change tracks to instead be convincing Kako to NOT fight…while Ima takes her place on the battlefield.

And like. It’s annoying yeah? Of course it is. Like, cmon dude, leave your sister alone and let her be her own person for once.

But Takumi goes along with Ima’s demands anyway, knowing there was no changing his mind. In order to convince Kako, Takumi goes on a quest to craft something for her to get her more open to listening to him, and when he outright asks for Ima’s help on what to give…

Ima’s statements on their past are very, very telling.

The implications of this alone are harrowing-

Not to mention what Ima says when Takumi asks if they had any relatives to care for them…

Like…there’s undeniably awful implications here…

Not even just that conversation either, one particular thing he says to Takumi is especially damning:

So. Yeah. That’s not even all of it either. These are just the ones I had pics of.

Is it any wonder then, that he acts the way he does? I mean-

It’s not exactly subtle that Ima is the one making sure he and Kako survive by taking on the role of a caretaker/guardian despite being the same age as Kako and them both not even being high school students yet. (No really it’s a shame how many people I’ve seen wave off Ima’s age because they find him “creepy” yet constantly infantilize Kako in the same breath…)

Ima’s role as the main (likely only) breadwinner for the two of them meant that he had to do “whatever it took” to keep them both alive. And yes, as I’ve not so subtly alluded to this entire post, that more than likely includes things of a sexual nature. (I AM ONCE AGAIN REMINDING EVERYONE THAT THIS IS A CHILD.)

Honestly speaking, is it really a surprise that he’s so fixated on keeping his sister’s “purity” guarded and her safety a top priority? Purity and safety have long since been things he himself lost a long time ago, and as he tells Takumi, Ima truly believes that he is the one who should “bear that shame.” His sister is his everything, his reason for living, his one light in his world after everything he’s been through and everything he’s had to do.

Whether he actually has incestuous feelings for Kako or not, his particular fixation on Kako remaining safe and untouched by the filth of the world is absolutely due to the trauma he has worked to hard to protect his sister from. Does this make his behavior toward her right? No. But the game acknowledges this and has Ima back off when Kako stands her ground! He grows as a person to respect her independence even if he doesn’t fully shed his over-encompassing adoration for her.

Also! Would also like to point out that him being so used to other traumatic situations in his life makes his laid back nonchalant attitude of their current life or death situation make so much sense. (Like, the kid knows how to stab someone but avoid their vital points. Cmon.)

Anyway! This is just a bunch of rambling about Ima and maybe I’m looking too much into things but…I don’t think I am. I actually have grown to adore this freaky kid, flaws and all, and I just think that with all the hate he’s been getting, he deserved a bit more nuance from someone a bit farther in the game.

(And ngl by the end of Ending Zero Ima is unironically the funniest character and I stand by that-)
