ooc: i find it incredibly interesting that peeta's father is named after a roman emperor (much like some other characters in hg... looking at you snow). i also find it interesting that the emperor he is named after had one of the shortest reigns, was a companion of nero briefly and nero stole his wife (more or less before murdering her). he then died by self infliction of a knife in order to prevent rome from going into a civil war..... i just find it interesting

When he's older Peeta's blond hair starts to turn white, and subsequently he starts to keep it very short. He does this to stop himself from looking like Snow, not necessarily because of what he fears Katniss' reaction may be, but because when he began to notice it he couldn't stand to look at himself in the mirror. He also didn't want to dye his hair, even though it was something he heavily considered.

ooc: Why I will die on the hill that Peeta reminded Snow of himself and not Lucy Gray.

Peeta has a way with words, and played with words and utilizing them at the right time, and thought on his feet. So did Snow the most obvious example of this is Snow and Lucy Gray in the zoo.

Peeta's love for Katniss reminded him of his love for Lucy Gray. The difference is he thought they loved their respective people the same. Peeta loves Katniss but always knows the ball is in her court and he wont ever force her to do things, he will express his feelings but he will not force her to love him. Snow thought he owned Lucy Gray and wanted what she might have given if not for his actions.

But because of that fundamental misunderstanding when they caught Peeta, he hoped that he could get Peeta to turn like he did, and while it did work, it didn't stick (for various reasons), but it also didn't work the same because he misunderstood Peeta.

Also Peeta is blonde (and my personal headcanon is the lightened his hair even more after the games).

Peeta is the correct foil and parallel for young Snow specifically.
