The Bathroom Kit: Sinkside
Tumblr media
GUM Tongue Cleaner
Most people never scrape their tongues. If you want the freshest breath, don’t skip this step. I do it every morning and every night before I floss (followed by brushing). $3.89
Oral-B Glide Floss (Mint)
Silky smooth floss, that rarely breaks. I hate using other floss. I floss twice a day. Shoot for flossing 3 times a week if you’ve been bad. $5.77 for a 2-pack.
Sonicare Toothbrush
The single biggest game changer in my oral hygiene routine. When I go on a trip, this is the first thing in my dopp kit. Prices vary. Get the Diamond Clean if you’re a baller. Get me one too. $189.95
Tom’s Simply White Toothpaste
I like this particular Tom’s toothpaste because it doesn’t have sodium lauryl sulfate (which irritates my gums) but it does have fluoride. Make sure your toothpaste has fluoride! $6.24
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
This is a great, gentle skin cleanser. It won’t dry your skin out or cause irritation. $6.07
CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM
I put this on every morning. It absorbs quickly, has SPF 30, and keeps my skin from looking oily. $8.45
CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM
And I use this every night. $7.79
Ayr Nasal Gel
Don’t laugh. Your nostrils need to stay moisturized too. Especially in the winter. I use it when I first wake up and before bed. (If you get nosebleeds, get a humidifier as well.) $3.48
Q-Tips
How do you think I’m getting that nasal gel in my nose?! Q-Tips are classic and versatile, just don’t use them in your ears. $2.69
Dove Clean Comfort Deodorant
Smell good. All day. $3.89
Schick Hydro 5 Blade Razor
This is the best razor I’ve ever used. I’ve tried everything. Every razor, many high end electric razors. They all suck. This doesn’t. I hate shaving and this makes it fun. $8.75
Aesop Moroccan Neroli Shaving Serum and Post-Shave Lotion
These are the only non-standard high-end products in my sinkside routine (maybe the Sonicare is too, but I really think that should become a standard if you can afford it). Like I said before, I hate shaving. I wait too long between shaving, making the task that much harder. My skin is prone to razor burn and ingrown hairs. Using Aesop’s shaving kit makes the experience delightful. It works well and smells amazing. It is definitely not something I’d get if you’re happy with Barbasol, etc. $80

The Best Map Apps for any Occasion -- Get There in One Piece
Tumblr media
1. Waze (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Web)
When to use it: driving. Seriously, only when you’re driving.
Waze uses real-time crowdsourced information to get you from A to B while avoiding traffic. I also love the routes Waze comes up. Get ready for some serious back road routes that rival any local’s.
https://www.waze.com/
2. Citymapper (iOS, Android, Web)
When to use it: walking, biking, ubering, and especially when taking public transportation.
It’s only available in certain cities, but it’s delightful to use. If it’s available in your city, expect a thoughtful and cheeky experience. Real time data and clean design make this a winner.

3. Google Maps (iOS, Android, Web)
When to use it: all the time.
When in doubt, use google maps. Great for driving, walking, biking, and taking public transit.
Traffic and public transit info are updated live.
Clean and beautiful and always there for you.
You can even discover restaurants and other nearby attractions within the app.
Pro tip: you can download map areas for offline use.

4. Here Maps (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Web)
When to use it: when you need offline maps (i.e. traveling abroad or in areas with poor cell reception).
Here Maps is a super capable app, but it’s biggest distinction is it’s offline maps feature.

5. Apple Maps (iOS, OS X)
When to use it: using siri.
Apple maps is beautiful when you’re looking at a map or already in navigation mode. It’s kind of clunky to get in and out of navigation mode. However, if you’re using Siri, it’s extremely convenient.
