Happy Birthday, Baby! (Rooster x Reader)

Authors Note: In honor of this lovely boys birthday today, I hope you enjoy!❤️

Summary: It’s Bradley’s Birthday, and you try to make it the best one he’s ever had.

Parings: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x Engaged! Reader

To you, birthdays have always been your favorite. Especially when it’s somebody else’s, because it’s always a nice feeling to make someone’s special day even more special. That being said, you made it your business to wake up earlier than Bradley. It was a struggle, considering that he was always up first going on his morning run. Last night, you had actually convinced him to sleep in since he’s been working so hard.

Slipping out of Bradley’s arms and out of bed was tough. He just kept groaning, only making his grip tighter. “Noooo, cmon darlin, just stay here with me.” He begged, but you wouldn’t have it. “Well, one, happy birthday baby, and two, I can’t! I have to get things ready for your surprise.” You smile, finally able to pry his strong arms off your waist. “Thank you baby, and no you don’t, just lay with me and that’ll be the best birthday present ever.” Finally giving in with his childish attitude and puppy dog eyes, you laid back down. “Oh fine! But you have 5 minutes Bradshaw, remember Mav is coming to pick you up soon so you can help him work on his plane for a little while.” This was really just a whole ploy to get him out of the house, so you can set up for the surprise party you have been planning. He finally agrees, and gets ready.

After Bradley left, you also quickly ready and made your way downstairs to set up decorations. Phoenix came by to help you set up everything; it was a difficult task to do on your own, after all. You guys did the whole 9 yards, balloons, streamers, etc…you wanted everything to be perfect! When that was done, you went to pick up Rooster’s present.

You had his father’s gold chain (which you got with help of Maverick) refurbished, and added a little pendant that has his mothers initials on it. You had also gotten him a new watch, with the date of your anniversary engraved on the bottom. Smiling to yourself, you knew he would love both of them.

When everything was done you took a step back to admire your work. Just in time, because this is when everybody started to get there, including Bob, Hangman, Fanboy, Payback, Penny, etc.Bradley and Maverick would be home soon, so now it was just a waiting game. Everyone talked and talked, until the second a car door slammed. “They’re here guys! Hide!” You Say, running to shut the lights off. With that, you open the door for your fiancé and friend. “Hi darlin” Rooster said, giving you a quick kiss on the lips. “Hi did you guys have fun?” you were so nervous, you just wanted everything to go perfect. As he continue to tell you about how he learned so many things on how to fix a plane, you two walked into the door of your shared house. The lights flicked on, and on cue, everyone jumped up.

“SURPRISE!!!”

The look on Rooster’s face was priceless. He looked so shocked, but so touched the same time. Turning to you, he smiled, knowing this is your doing. “Happy Birthday, Baby!” You say, smiling ear to ear. “You did this all..for me babe?” His voice laced with utter shock. “Of course I did honey! With a little help, but you deserve this and everything times a billion.” With that, he pulls you in for a kiss, and then goes off to say hi to all your friends and family.

Towards the end of at night when everybody started to leave, that’s when you decided to give Bradley his present.

“As if you didn’t do enough for me already darlin…there’s more?” When he opens the little box, you see his eyes start to well up with tears when he realizes what it is. “I hope I didn’t ruin it or anything, I just thought it would be the perfect way to have your parents a little closer to your heart.” Before you can say anything, he leans in and gives you one of the tightest hugs, and a kiss filled with so much love and adoration. He then opens the watch, and has almost the same reaction. “These are the best gift I’ve ever gotten baby, thank you so much. This means more than you will ever know.” This makes you smile even more. “Good! Happy Birthday my love, I hope you had the best day ever.”

“I’ve got my best girl by my side each day, that’s what makes everyday the best yet.”

The devil doesn’t bargain

Nursing his whiskey glass while sitting in at the bar, Rooster couldn’t help but think of why you asked him to meet you here. It’s that crazy, no good ex of yours, Y/E/N. You dated them on and off for a while, but Bradley always hated the thought of you with them, or even another person in general. The truth is, the pilot was in love with you for as long as he can remember. All he wanted to do was tell you how much he cared, and how he can treat you better than anyone ever could.

Time must have gotten away from him, because as if on instinct, he looked up to see you. He couldn’t help but smile at how you hugged Penny on the way in, or how you saw him and put the brightest smile on your face. God, everything you did was amazing to him.

He’s ruthless, you knew this, I told you, didn’t I?

“Hey Y/N” Bradley said, with just the tiniest bit of hurt in his voice. He wanted to tell you so bad.

“Hey, thank you for meeting me here, I could really use your advice.” You explain, sitting down and ordering a strong drink, really whatever caught your eye first.

“Of course, so what’s up? Talk to me.” Concern was clearly laced in his voice.

“Well, it’s just Y/E/N, I don’t know what to do anymore. One second they are the nicest, most kind person, then the next it’s screaming, yelling, and name calling. I really thought I liked them, but now it’s just getting hard to understand the whole relationship. I think I’m done with it, but I don’t know how to tell them.” You explain, making sure to not look at your mustached friend. Little did he know, you were hiding a secret.

…The devil doesn’t bargain, he’ll only break your heart again

It isn’t worth it darling

Listening to all this made Rooster see red. In his eyes, you were the most perfect, kind hearted, amazing person he’d ever met. How could anyone ever degrade and treat you this way?

I don’t mean to meddle

but the Devil doesn’t settle

“Listen Y/N, I know this is not particularly what you want to hear, but I think you should end it all in all. They aren’t good for you. From what you tell me, all Y/E/N ever does is make you cry and feel horrible. You don’t need nor deserve that in any way, and I hope you know that.” You know by the way he looked into your eyes that he was being completely genuine.

“I’d like to think I do, Roost, I do. In all honesty, among the other things I said, I think I like somebody else. I know they could treat me better.” Here’s your shot, let’s hope it works out well.

…I just want what’s best for you in the end

This, again? He has to tell you now, or who knows how much longer he’ll have to hide his (if not completely obvious) feelings for you? He couldn’t take it anymore, he needed to do it. Nothing was stopping him.

“Y/N, I need to get something off my chest.” Here’s goes nothing.

“Ever since the day I’ve laid eyes on you, I thought you were the most gorgeous, amazing, sweet-hearted person I’ve met. Everytime you cry over this jerk, it makes me want to kill them and never let anyone hurt you again. I could treat you like you deserve, I just want to be there for you. If you let me.” But the time he was finished, Bradley was a teary eyed, minorly tipsy mess. He meant every word, and you knew it.

You were scared yet somewhat relived that he said what you couldn’t first. What were you to do now? You knew.

“Bradley, I feel the same way. I really like you too, and I think that we could give it a shot if we tried. I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else but you. To be honest, I don’t know why I was with Y/E/N. All I want is you.”

Bradley stands up and takes your hand in his. In doing so, he never breaks eye contact. As if on cue, your lips collide with one another. They melted together, as if they were pieces of a puzzle finally reunited. After a good amount of time, he pulls away.

“Y/N, we’re going to get through this together, I promise. I will never hurt you, I will never leave you, I’m here forever.”

He pulls you into a hug, which you gladly return. Finally, things would be okay.
