AEW Double Or Nothing 2025 Review
Good God. WHAT a show. Like, genuinely, holy shit. Let's talk about it!
Match 1: Mercedes Moné VS Jamie Hayter - Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Women's Final
Opening the show with this match was a GREAT choice
The crowd was immediately hype and rightfully so
There were so many cool spots, and that one on the ring steps where Jamie almost fell?? Still looked SO fucking sick
I really liked the finish and the result (though I will say Mercedes' gear gave it away for me a bit, not that I minded)
There are two questions for me going forward
1. Where does Jamie go from here?
2. How do they get the TBS Title off Mercedes before All In, or do they even take it off her at all?
Either way, Mercedes VS Toni at All In is going to be excellent, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they build to it
5.25/5
Match 2: FTR VS Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia - Tag Team Match
Very short note to start, but I wasn't watching properly during the entrances and I also wasn't wearing my glasses, so for a second I thought that Dax's tracksuit said GAY instead of his name, ha
This was fun!!
I loved FTR bullying and intimidating Tony throughout and I'm very happy they won
I predicted some kind of Cope return, but in hindsight I actually think it makes much more sense to have that moment happen at All In in the stadium
That would also give a more logical timeframe for the build to All Out with Christian (if that'll even happen)
I'm interested to see what FTR do next and who will be their next target, because realistically whoever it is will have to have some kind of connection to Cope. Surely?
Interesting times ahead
4/5
Match 3: Ricochet VS Mark Briscoe - Stretcher Match
This was even more entertaining than I thought it would be!!
Ricochet continues to be an absolute menace (read: delight) as a heel
Him bashing Briscoe's head into the stretcher over and over again was excellent, Mark Briscoe is an absolute champion
Loved the part where Mark used the crutch to stop the ambulance door from closing
I really don't have a lot to say about this match, I just really enjoyed it
That final visual after Ricochet won of the scissors and the pool of blood next to the ambulance? That's cinema
Also, sidenote, Mark Briscoe growing out his hair just to spite Ricochet was incredible and ingenius, no notes
5/5
Match 4: The Hurt Syndicate (C) VS Sons of Texas - AEW World Tag Team Championships
I'm going to say something similar to my review of the last Hurt Syndicate PPV match: this match was fine for what it was
I like Dustin Rhodes and I have a huge amount of respect for him, but you'll never hear me singing Sammy Guevara's praises
The MJF stuff added a bit of intrigue, and although I expected more to happen in that respect I'm actually really glad it didn't, I think it's a great thing that they seem to be making this a longer story and I hope it goes on for the whole summer (maybe coming to a head of some kind at All Out?)
I also love the added element of Max needing to cheat, but the Syndicate - especially Bobby - being against it/not wanting or needing it. Very interesting
Overall not a bad match, but considering the other matches on the show it likely won't be one I remember being on this show, if at all
3.5/5
Match 5: Kazuchika Okada (C) VS 'Speedball' Mike Bailey - AEW Continental Championship
Everybody say thank you to Speedball for waking Okada back up in preperation for his inevitable match with Kenny THANK YOU SPEEDBALL
This was a great match with some brutal spots (I'm thinking of the double knees on the apron, yowza!!)
Speedball has been such a great addition to the roster and I'm really happy that they're consistently being given big matches like this one to show off how good they are
As much as I would love to get the belt off Okada before All In so the titles don't have to unified, I understand why they're doing it this way
Let's be real, Okada being undefeated going into that match makes a lot more sense, makes it a bigger deal
Overall, a really great match, and another great defense for Okada
5.25/5
Match 6: 'Timeless' Toni Storm (C) VS Mina Shirakawa - AEW Women's World Championship
I've been begging them to bring back my lesbians for months now, and my wishes have at last come true
I liked this match, but I will say that the complete predictability of it did take from my interest a bit
I was mostly just thinking whether Mariah would show up, and to be honest, in the end I'm glad she didn't
Luther was a lot of fun, as per usual, and I loved the post-match bit of Toni and Mina making up (and out hehe) and going back to being lovers (history will say they were best friends, and so will Taz apparently)
I'm interested now in seeing how they build to Toni/Mercedes before All In
It's already a very intriguing match in concept but I think the story is what'll make it must-see
4.5/5
Match 7: Team AEW (Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale & The Opps) VS Death Riders & Young Bucks - Anarchy in the Arena
Damn it TK, you've done it again, you crazy bastard
I was already so excited for this match, but the second Swerve came out in Predator cosplay I was locked the fuck in
I can't even described to you how hard I laughed during the Bucks' entrance, I was in TEARS
I mean come on, the Mount Rushmore of just their faces??? My stomach legitimately cramped up
Joe materialising behind Claudio was great, I was wondering which one of the Death Riders he would attack when he didn't come out with Shibata and Hobbs
And THEN, as if the initial chaos wasn't good enough
LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR
(the hard-cut to I'm So Excited also popped me big time, Swerve and Kenny's reactions were excellent)
There were genuinely too many moments that I loved in this match to talk about so here are my highlights:
Kenny trying to shove a flagpole up one of the Bucks
Nick's dive off the stage screen (that was so scary, I was worried)
Willow getting chained to the ringpost by her EAR (FREE HER)
Mark Briscoe showing up still covered in his own blood like two hours after his own match my GOD
Willow and Hobbs matching t-shirts
THE EXPLODING TABLE
Swerve's thumbtack shoe (fantastic)
STEREO HOUSE CALL AND V-TRIGGER, and finally;
Swerve emerging from the dead via forklift
Although I predicted an Eddie Kingston return, I am genuinely happy I was wrong on that one
This story (especially after the Owen final) does not need another main player right now
I'm happy to let Eddie/New Mox be a feud for when Mox has lost the title
If anything, it actually makes much more sense that way, those two do not need to fight over a championship
Hook coming back but not engaging with Joe was interesting, I wonder if this the start of a heel turn for him because he's annoyed The Opps replaced him with Hobbs in the Trios Titles match
Plenty of cool potential stories coming out of this match, I loved every minute of it
6/5
Match 8: Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita) VS Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O' Reilly & Roderick Strong) - Trios Match
Here's what I liked about this match
I liked that it was very obviously a match to give the crowd a chance to recover before the main event, while also having some of the best workers on the roster putting on a decent showing
Loved when Don got involved and when Archer took over for him on commentary, very fun
I'm glad Kyle got the win, and I really hope that it leads to him challenging for and winning the TNT Championship, as I said in my predictions
Now onto the actually interesting part: the post-match
I was genuinely racking my brain trying to think of who would come out and save the faces from the beatdown, and I got SO hyped when I saw Brody and Big Tom
But then
BUT THEN
Tanahashi?? HIROSHI TANAHASHI???? GO ACE
Lost my mind
I'll be so interested to see who his opponent will be at Forbidden Door, and this has me thinking that it could potentially be Kyle?
My reasoning is that Tana already had his final US match against Takeshita so I don't think it'll be him, and Kyle seems like the other viable option in this scenario
However, we have a lot of time before we get there, so I won't dwell on it
I'm going to count the post-match in my rating of this, because I feel like it was a significant part of it
4/5
Match 9: 'Hangman' Adam Page VS Will Ospreay - Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Men's Final
Everybody shut up right now
MY COWBOY IS COMING HOME
AND I NEVER DOUBTED HIM FOR A SECOND
Let me tell you, I was shadowboxing in my living room for most of this match
I was on the edge of my seat from the second Hangman's entrance video package played
The drama, the storytelling, the callbacks
The commentary table collapsing, the use of Kenny and Swerve's moves, the finisher fest towards the end
THAT final Buckshot Lariat, ooooooooh BOY
Hangman cried, and you better believe I cried with him
OH, and that callback to All Out last year when he went back to the ring??? CINEMA
And now, at the very least, Hanger has Will as an ally for All In
The question is, who else will join him? And how many bridges will he be able to (re)build?
This match was phenomenal, and I'm going to be riding the high I felt watching it for a very long time
If you haven't seen it, I implore you to go out of your way to watch this match, you will not be disappointed
An incredible end (at last) to another fantastic pay-per-view
6.5/5
After this show, there is frankly no disputing it: AEW is where the best wrestle. Stacked roster, stacked card, and no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The countdown to All In is on, and after a show like this one, it's impossible to not already be excited for it. Professional wrestling is alive and well, my friends, and how lucky we are to witness it in real time.
Overall rating: 6/5

Okay, I just finished watching the show so before I post my review, let's see how I did with my predictions!!
Match 1: Owen Women's Final, Mercedes VS Jamie - Incorrect
Match 2: FTR VS Nigel/Danny - Correct!
Match 3: Stretcher Match, Briscoe VS Ricochet - Correct!
Match 4: Tag Titles, Hurt Syndicate VS Sons of Texas - Correct!
Match 5: Continental Title, Okada VS Speedball - Correct!
Match 6: Women's World Championship, Toni VS Mina - Correct!
Match 7: Anarchy in the Arena - Correct!
Match 8: Trios Match, Don Callis Family VS Paragon - Correct!
Match 9: Owen Men's Final, Hangman VS Ospreay - Correct!
8/9 ain't bad!! This show was fantastic, I enjoyed it from start to finish. I'm also not mad about the things I got wrong, in terms of both results and mid/post-match stuff. Anyway, that's it, stay tuned for my official review, dropping either tonight or tomorrow (depends on how tired I am).
AEW Double Or Nothing 2025 Predictions
Oh, I am so excited for this show!! I have a lot of thoughts so buckle up, this is going to be a long one.
Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita) VS Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O' Reilly & Roderick Strong) - Trios Match: Okay, here's my thing with this match. I can't see a world where The Family loses. I think they need the win more than the others post-Owen tournament losses, and I also think Fletcher should get the pin on Adam Cole to set up a TNT Title match, possibly at All In? Maybe? It's the more interesting outcome for me, and at the very least it would give Cole something to actually do with this championship run, other than being on commentary on Collision every other week. Don Callis Family wins.
Mark Briscoe VS Ricochet - Stretcher Match: I love Mark Briscoe, but nobody needs this win more than Ricochet. Ultimately, I don't think it would harm him long term to lose, but he hasn't won a match on PPV since joining the company, so I think now is the time. Either way, this match should be a car crash in the best way possible, and I can't WAIT to see what crazy shit Briscoe pulls. Ricochet wins.
The Hurt Syndicate (C) VS Sons of Texas - AEW World Tag Team Championships: I would genuinely be interested in talking to someone who believes, in the year of our lord 2025, that Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara could beat Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. Add MJF to the mix and there is zero chance the titles are changing hands. The Hurt Syndicate wins.
FTR VS Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia - Tag Team Match: I think FTR have to win here to solidify their heel turn. I'm really excited to see Nigel back in the ring again, but I do think that the purpose of him being in the match is for FTR to beat a beloved face in the company. Bonus points if there's a post-match further beat down of Nigel/Danny/Daddy Magic or even Tony, and EXTRA bonus points if there's a Cope return (to potentially begin the set-up for a tag team reunion with Christian? Mayhaps??). FTR wins.
Kazuchika Okada (C) VS 'Speedball' Mike Bailey - AEW Continental Championship: I have a feeling that this match is going to be one of the matches of the night. Okada seems to be locking in after this week's Dynamite/Collision, and Speedball is one of the most exciting wrestlers in the world right now. I would love to see Speedball win, but ultimately I think we're heading towards a title unification match at All In between Omega and Okada, so I can't see them taking the belt off Okada before then. Kazuchika Okada wins.
Toni Storm (C) VS Mina Shirakawa - AEW Women's World Championship: For reasons I'll explain in the next prediction, I think Toni needs to retain here. I also think Mina losing would open up an interesting possibility for a full heel turn and, potentially, a Mariah May return to set up a full reunion of Rose Gold in AEW, which would be delicious. Toni Storm retains.
Mercedes Moné VS Jamie Hayter - Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Women's Final: Whoever ends up winning this match, I'll be happy with the result. That being said, I think the option that makes more sense is Jamie. Given her history with Toni, and Forbidden Door in London right around the corner after All In, the story writes itself in my opinion. Mercedes losing would also fully send her into a spiral that I believe should lead to her losing the TBS Championship at All In to Athena, and eventually to go after Jamie for revenge months down the line. Jamie Hayter wins.
Team AEW (Kenny Omega, Willow Nightingale, Swerve Strickland & The Opps) VS Death Riders & The Young Bucks - Anarchy in the Arena: My main predictions for this match don't actually lie in the result, but for the purpose of consistency I think Team AEW will win. How they will win, however, is the more interesting side of things. We've all heard the rumours, we all have our fingers crossed. Gabe Kidd is going to be there, Mox and Claudio are major players. The stage is set for the return of the Mad King. Eddie Kingston should have always been a major part of this story, and if he hadn't been injured this time last year I strongly believe he would have been involved from the start, at least in some capacity. It's the perfect time for him to come back to help the faces win, and can you imagine the crowd reaction if he does? It would also be nice to see the Death Riders knocked down a peg after the last 8 months. Team AEW wins.
'Hangman' Adam Page VS Will Ospreay - Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Men's Final: I have so many thoughts about this match, but for the purpose of this prediction I won't go crazy here. Hangman simply has to win. I understand the vision with Will, and I will also acknowledge the Darby Allin of it all, but after the last few months of both the Death Riders shenanigans and Hangman's redemption tour, AND the last two weeks of promos from Hanger, I think I need him to win both here and at All In. I will say that if Will wins, I'll be disappointed but I won't be fully against it, because he's also been making his case fantastically over the past month. I am and always will be Team Hangman until I die, so that is my official prediction for this match. My ideas of what will happen at All In regarding Darby depend on the result of this match, so I won't go into that now, I'll wait until my All In predictions post. In any case, I'm so excited for this match. The build has been fantastic, and both guys are among the best in the world right now. Hopefully it will main event, because out of all the matches on the card, I think this one deserves it most. 'Hangman' Adam Page wins.
And that's that. I can't wait to watch the show tomorrow, and for the first time in a while I genuinely wish I could stay up all night to watch it live. Almost every match on the card is exciting to me, and there are so many possibilities. TEAM HANGMAN!!! DOUBLE OR NOTHING BABYYYY!!!!!!

Damn, completely forgot I did this. Let’s see how accurate I was (FAIR WARNING: I didn’t watch it and I don’t plan to, so I’m not going to comment on match quality beyond the general consensus I saw online)
Night One:
Tiffy VS Charlotte: Correct!
Knight VS Fatu: Correct!
Jade VS Naomi: Incorrect
Raiders VS New Day: Correct!
Racist Lucha Gimmick VS Rey (not Mysterio): Incorrect
Gunther VS Jey: Incorrect
Reigns VS Rollins VS Punk: Incorrect
Night 2:
Iyo VS Bianca VS Rhea: Correct!
Breakker VS Penta VS Dom VS Finn: Incorrect
Drew VS Priest: Correct!
Women’s Tag Titles: Incorrect
AJ VS Sack of Shit: Incorrect
Cody VS Cena: Correct!
6/13. Not bad, considering the sheer amount of bad decisions that were made in terms of winners across both nights. I’m glad I didn’t watch either night, I saw clips of the highlights but to be honest even with the praise for the women’s 3-way and the night 1 main event, I really just can’t be bothered and I likely never will be.
Anyway, I’ll be going back to my irregularly scheduled posting now, and chances are I won’t comment on WWE like this until next year’s Wrestlemania. Bye!
Wrestlemania 41 Predictions
Doing this for fun as someone who has not actively watched the product since the Royal Rumble, but has too much time on their hands because they have the week off work. I’m assuming all these matches are on the card based off what I’ve found online, but I also know that Raw and Smackdown haven’t happened yet this week and if there’s one thing I do know, it’s that things tend to change last minute in WWE. Also, these are more what I want the results to be with some logic thrown in here and there, but I am mostly going off of vibes, fair warning. Here we go!!
Night 1
Tiffany Stratton (C) VS Charlotte Flair - WWE Women’s Championship: It’s Tiffy Time, it’s been Tiffy Time, and it should continue to be Tiffy Time for at least a few more months, in my opinion. If I’m being so honest, I have zero interest in another boring Charlotte title reign, she does nothing for me these days, and I think it would make more sense for Tiffany to get the big win here and solidify herself as a force to be reckoned with going forward. Tiffany Stratton wins.
LA Knight (C) VS Jacob Fatu - United States Championship: I genuinely really like both of these guys, and I wouldn’t mind seeing either of them win. That being said, the more appealing outcome for me is for Fatu to win and run through the mid card for the foreseeable future. I can see it being almost like Gunther’s IC title reign but a bit more chaotic. It would also free up Knight to challenge for the World Heavyweight/WWE championship should the opportunity arise. Jacob Fatu wins.
Jade Cargill VS Naomi: One of the few matches I have a very solid opinion on. Naomi should absolutely win this one. She’s putting on a masterclass in character work at the moment and that needs to be rewarded with a big win in a big match. Yes, it comes at the expense of Jade, but to be honest Naomi needs the win more, and it would also keep the story going post-Mania if they get Bianca back involved. Naomi wins.
War Raiders (C) VS New Day - World Tag Team Championships: If you had asked me who the tag champions were before I looked up the match card I wouldn’t have even been able to guess. So because of that, this match is inconsequential to me. However, I love the New Day, and I really want to see them as heel champions again. Other than that, I have no opinion. New Day wins.
Rey Mysterio VS El Grande Americano: I could not like the idea of this match less if I tried. Racist gimmicks in the big year of 2025?? It’s a no from me. Because it’s only right and just, Rey Mysterio wins.
Gunther (C) VS Jey Uso - World Heavyweight Championship: Yikes. If this is how Gunther’s reign ends, I will genuinely not know what to think anymore. I like Jey, I do, genuinely, but I said it at the time - him winning the Rumble was a mistake. And I think that’s been proven in the build to this match. (Granted, I have only seen snippets online, but judging by what I’ve seen and other people’s reactions, I don’t think we can say it’s been good.) We could have had Gunther VS Punk, dude, my god. I think for Jey to win the title here would be another mistake, but I still wouldn’t put it past them to do it so they can sell more yeet t-shirts. Even so, I’m going with what I want here, Gunther wins.
Roman Reigns VS Seth Rollins VS CM Punk: I genuinely don’t know with this one, and the fact that it’s the main event is throwing me off even more. On one hand, it’s Roman at Wrestlemania, so you have to take that into account. Then you have Punk, whose whole thing is that he’s never had a Mania main event and is desperate to win. Then you throw in Seth, who hates both guys with the fire of a thousand suns, and is determined to beat them to ruin their moment, no matter what it takes. Paul Heyman is also here and caught up in the crossfire. There’s a lot that could potentially happen in this match, but, as with most of my other predictions, I’m going to go with my heart on this one. And one thing about me? I love seeing people’s dreams come true. CM Punk wins.
Night 2
Iyo Sky (C) VS Bianca Belair VS Rhea Ripley - Women’s World Championship: I expect this match to be one of the highlights of the whole weekend. I love all three of these women, and I wouldn’t be against any of them winning, much like the US title match. However, I do think that Iyo should retain here. Let her be the main event baby face that the crowd want her to be, there are so many potential feuds she could have with the title post-Mania. Iyo Sky wins.
Bron Breakker (C) VS Penta VS Finn Balor VS Dominik Mysterio - 4-Way Match, Intercontinental Championship: I don’t think Dom or Finn are winning here, because I think there’ll be some kind of miscommunication that’ll lead to the inevitable final combustion of the Judgment Day. Do I think a Penta win would be cool? Yes. But I think they could still do a singles feud post-Mania with just him and Bron, and have a more satisfying win for him later. Bron Breakker wins.
Damien Priest VS Drew McIntyre: Basing this one purely of the fact that I want to see Drew be an cocky little shit again. I love Priest, but I feel like Drew should get his lick back from last year here. Drew McIntyre wins.
Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez (C) VS Bayley & Lyra Valkyria - Women’s Tag Team Championships: I couldn’t care less about this, mostly because I’m fuming that the women’s midcard championships aren’t being defended on either night in their FIRST YEAR OF EXISTENCE. I’m insulted on behalf of the women’s division, they all deserve better. But I guess if I have to choose, I would prefer an actual team as champions. Liv and Raquel win.
AJ Styles VS A Pile of Human Garbage: There is only one wrestler in this match. AJ Styles wins.
Cody Rhodes (C) VS John Cena - WWE Championship: Give Big John the belt, let him be a tyrant. Cody can feud with Orton or continue his feud with Rock for Summerslam (or more likely, Saudi). A heel Cena as champion in his final run is infinitely more exciting to me, as much as I love Cody. He finished his story last year, let John continue his final one this year. John Cena wins.
And there you have it. Those are my predictions. I can honestly say that this is the least excited I’ve been for a Wrestlemania in the last ten years, and that is saying something. I’ll be watching out of curiosity more than anything else, but I won’t be staying up to watch it live, and I won’t exactly be rushing to watch either show the next day either. It’s a shame, to see what WWE have become, especially since some of my favourite wrestlers are part of the company.
Anyway, if you’re reading this, enjoy the wrestling this weekend, whether it’s WWE or otherwise. It’s still a very exciting time to be a wrestling fan, take advantage of it!!
