Hannibal’s surgeon’s cuffs
According to Gentleman’s Quarterly and The Art of Manliness, cuff buttons (whether functional or non-functional) are a relic of military “pips” marking rank.
Functioning cuff buttons are also known as “surgeon’s cuffs”, since they allowed army surgeons to roll back their jacket sleeves to quickly perform operations. This let surgeons attend patients spouting blood without removing their coats—an important distinction that set them apart from shirt-sleeved tradesmen of the lower orders. Since surgeons used to be of far higher social class than they usually are today, buttoned cuffs became an indicator of rank and social status. Surgeon’s cuffs are also more labor-intensive to make  than non-functioning buttons or a buttonless cuff, and so their presence usually marks a high-quality garment.
Nowadays surgeon’s cuffs indicates high-end or bespoke suits. Some wearers leave one or two buttons undone to reveal that they can afford a bespoke suit -  a subtle sort of flaunting of the wearer’s wealth and refined taste.
sources: (1) (2) (3) and xshiromorix who visited Hannibal’s set including the costuming department and got sources for this worderful fun fact! :)
The level of detail (’we may never know!) they put into the show is incredible! :)

My mind is full of dark, incomprehensible things for the average mind. An episode of roadrunner where the coyote catches him. Black tulips... with the Tokyo filter over them. And such.

I think the contrast between fandom perception of the murders hannibal commits is so interesting. The men he kills are there to demonstrate that he is a continous monster that actively seeks out his prey, while the murders of the female characters, Abigail, Beverly, and Georgia (the faceblind girl) are explicitly meant to get under wills skin. They are treated by the fandom and the show as unspeakable horrors and ultimate acts of betrayal, a low that we were begging hannibal wouldnt stoop to. Also they are the only murders (as far as into s2 ((im rewatching sorry)) goes) where the victims did no REAL wrong. Beverly was looking for evidence to help her friend and find justice in her mind, Abigail was (debatably) a tool used to hurt will, and Georgia was meant to further draw suspicion to him.

of course hannibal's actions are not gonna make any sense if you think he: had a masterplan, was just curious, is simply evil. the answer is much simpler and that it is he was just in love. and didn't like how that made him feel out of control.
he says so. to abigail, "your father loved you", "my father tried to cut my throat", "out of love". louder for the people in the back: OUT OF LOVE. hobbs, like will and hannibal, wanted to annihilate the feeling of love.
he says so to bedelia, he ate his sister to forgive her for making him feel love which, to him, makes him betray himself (put someone else first, not follow his nature completely, be vulnerable).
and his curiosity wasn't the driving factor after the hobbs kill. after that, it was his feelings that were controlling his actions.
that's it. don't overcomplicate it or homophoby it lol he's just in love and that makes him lose his shit. he's acting impulsively when he hurts Will.

Hannibal doesn't pray. But he believes in God. Intimately.

I will forever be mad that this show was cut short, not because I want more after the ‘ending’ but because I wish these sort of interactions were done with the shows usual pacing. Let them dissect, dissect, dissect. I want a 10 minute scene of will just staring at a relevant painting, twitching, and then dropping some heavy metal one liner.

Love!
Have you guys ever noticed how they (don't) light up hannibal's eyes sometimes in a way they seem hollowed? it's always in very specific moments where Will/the audience is perceiving him as soulless.

the "diagnosis" Chilton gave Will during his trial was the one closest to the truth ("Will Graham has never been diagnosed. He won't allow anyone to test him. He has carefully constructed a persona to hide his real nature from the world. He wears it so well, even Jack Crawford couldn't see past it. (...) There is not yet a name for whatever Will Graham is.")
unlike Alana Bloom or Jack Crawford, he saw what a manipulator Will was and that in front of them he played a poor, confused, wounded bird ("(...) A particularly-manipulative one at that. Poor, confused, wounded bird for Agent Crawford and Doctors Lecter and Bloom. And for me, well, I get the psychopath's triumvirate: charm, focus and ruthlessness. The charm, of course, being debateable.")
he believed Will that Hannibal may be the Chesapeake Ripper and said Jack Crawford: "Hannibal once served me tongue and made a joke about eating mine. It's hard not to at least consider it.". Jack ignored him. (I think Jack was already planning some large-scale action against Hannibal, but that's a topic for another post)
he called Dr Lecter "Hannibal the Cannibal"
he understood that Will Graham was alive because Hannibal Lecter liked him that way
criticized Jack for letting Will and Hannibal get closer to each other and then leaving Will alone ("You dangle Will Graham and now you cut bait. You are letting Hannibal have him hook, line and sinker.")
when Jack expressed hope that the relationship between Hannibal and Will was one of those friendships that ends after the disemboweling, Chilton told him: "I would argue, with these two, that's tantamount to flirtation. Will is going to lead you right to him." and let's be real, he was right.
