Zach was relieved at the sound of her laughter-- perhaps things were not as tense as he had previously imagined. Charlie seemed to bounce back emotionally as well as she did, well, literally. “Worried about me?” The magician was perplexed to say the least. It wasn’t that people didn’t care about him, he knew he had Bunny and Zee, but this was different. Charlie wasn’t family or contractually obligated to do what he said, so this was new for him. He wasn’t sure how he felt about it.

“That’s--” He should have said sweet, “Not necessary. I’m fine.” He put on a convincing enough smile. Much like Charlie convinced herself that she would always be fine, Zach was under the same impression when it came to himself. He had high self esteem and fans, what more did a guy need to be considered fine? He was sure he had it all.

His green eyes darted to her cape quickly. “Right.” He muttered with a nod before moving closer to her and grasping the cloth in her hand before uttering words backwards that made his advertisement disappear. “I still think it looked better before, but there you go, Misfit.” He even offered her a genuine smile that gave away the fact that he was joking for once.

Charlie shuffled awkwardly in her converse. This had gotten ten times more awkward than she had meant for it to get— but then again, things always did seem to escalate quickly when she got all… Emotional. But she was fine now- the dull ache she felt did not exist. She looked at anything but the boy standing far too far away now for it to be considered a normal human being. Charlie was fine now, she would always be fine. There had been no almost crying here. It was mantra that was automatically repeated in her brain.

“I won’t,” she replied, carefully. Charlie expected him to have yelled at her for wrinkling his suit. But he seemed pretty… Chill. “Everything is fine. I was worried about…. You,” she said, trailing off quietly. That wasn’t too awkward to admit, right?

She bent to pick up her cape, her head snapping up to meet his eyes— oh. Charlie almost looked like a deer in the headlights as Zach turned increasingly serious. The surprised look on her face suddenly turned into an easy smile a second later. Charlie even let out a laugh. “Everything is fine,” she repeated, “I don’t need to talk to Bunny— unless it’s about shopping. I need to take her out this weekend. But, uh-” Charlie awkwardly held out her cape. “- could you, uh…. Ya know?”
