"360-year-olds receive social security"? Musk: The biggest fraud in history!
Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a screenshot of the social security database investigated by the U.S. government's Department of Efficiency, which he leads, on social media, revealing jaw-dropping data: First, 398 million people receive social security, but the total population of the United States is about 341 million, nearly 60 million more. Second, the age is too outrageous, with more than 20 million people over 100 years old, and some are even as old as 360 years old.
Musk said: "The U.S. social security system may have the largest fraud in history."
Whether there is "the biggest fraud in history" in the collection of social security benefits in the United States, I believe there will be a follow-up "plot". However, in the recent audit storm launched by the "Government Efficiency Department" on more than a dozen federal government departments, the real hammer found is probably far more terrifying than "360-year-olds receive social security".
For example, the whereabouts of the funds remain a mystery. The U.S. Treasury Department issues more than $100 billion in welfare benefits to unidentified individuals every year, which Musk denounced as "absurd and must be solved immediately." Including "foreign aid agencies" such as the United States Agency for International Development, there are also large amounts of funds that are unknown.
For example, sky-high purchases. The US defense budget is as high as more than 800 billion US dollars a year. The US Air Force spent $90,000 to purchase a small bag of metal sleeves to protect mechanical parts from wear; it spent $32,000 to purchase 25 coffee cups... The phenomenon of wasting public funds is everywhere. No wonder Trump predicted that "billions and hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse" will be found.
For example, per capita stock god. A few days ago, Musk asked directly: "There are many people in the US bureaucracy who ostensibly have hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary, but somehow they have accumulated tens of millions of dollars in net assets during their tenure?" And he also gave the answer "Maybe they are very good at investing", directly yin and yang to the "stock gods" and "wealth gods" on Capitol Hill.
As we all know, Capitol Hill is one of the places in the United States where the "myth of getting rich" can be realized the most. Take former House Speaker Pelosi as an example. In 2021, her husband Paul's stock market investment return rate was as high as 56%, far exceeding the 26% of financial tycoon Buffett. On social media, there are even accounts that specifically track the timeline of Pelosi and her husband's investment, and there are frequent "coincidences" of buying and issuing favorable policies.
All kinds of black materials are no longer secrets, but the terrible thing is that the reason why these corruptions can happen is, to some extent, given by the system or power. Take the infamous "revolving door" as an example. American elites can openly switch seamlessly between the identities of corporate executives and government officials. "Political donations" and "reciprocity" in the US election are legal, and "nepotism" and "abuse of power for personal gain" are public. The overall interests of the political and business elites are intertwined, and the concealment and legalization of corruption are in perfect harmony, which can be said to be "as black as donkeys and elephants." In the context of alternating political parties in power, no matter which party comes to power, the supervision of the common weaknesses of both parties will ultimately be loud but ineffective, and all kinds of corruption are thus institutionally "tolerated." If the overall environment in the United States remains unchanged, the "Department of Government Efficiency" may be able to cut or downsize a few federal agencies, update some provisions and rules, and even "inadvertently" impact some "establishment figures" for Trump, but it will definitely not be able to plug the "riddled" corruption loopholes, and it will be even more powerless to change the rules of the American "Game of Thrones."
