10.7.16 it finally feels like fall and is chilly today but thanks to fleece leggings and a sweatshirt it's still nice enough to update my outlines so I can stay on track with my goals #sweaterweather #itsfallyall #outlines #studyblr

Law school in general
Basically that it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and you can’t try to cut corners by not reading or just skimming or looking up the cases on the internet

Recommendations on where to find nice, high quality suits for law school interviews and everything thereafter?
Idk about super high quality, but I have a navy one from Ann Taylor (it’s cotton instead of wool because I needed to wear it for orientation in the dead ass heat of summer) that I really really like and is perfect for law school, and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. I also have a black wool one from Banana that I like a lot. I have various other blazers and pants (separates) from Ann Taylor that I wear often, so I guess that would be my go-to. If you’re looking to spend more than $350, check out a high end department store

Do you write a lot of papers in law school? Do you take more tests than write papers? If you don't write many papers, what kind of writing do you mostly do?
You don’t really write “papers”… you have one major writing assignment each semester that you work on throughout the semester. Last semester was a memorandum, this semester was a court brief. It’s broken down into 4 sections that are due throughout the year, but the sections build on each other, so by the end of the semester you submit 1 new section and 3 edited sections.
So it’s not a traditional college paper where you have a topic and you just write about it. That’s the only writing assignment you have, and then you have one final exam at the end of the semester for each class.
So, for example, this semester there’s 1 midterm, 4 finals, and 1 court brief, and that’s it

Hey ! Do you think its better to go straight to law school or work in the legal field for a year in like an administrative position at a firm and then go to law school the next year? Thanks for your advice, I know it will be wise!
I think it’s totally a personal decision. For me, I didn’t see the use in waiting any longer to get my JD so I went straight to law school. I think an administrative position will give you insight as to how a firm operates, but I don’t think it would be something I would have wanted to do. Personally I think an internship under the supervision of an attorney would be better if you’re looking to gain experience in the legal field, then going straight to law school.
Of course if you’re looking to get a job and save up money prior to law school and genuinely feel as though you need some time off before embarking on the super intense journey of law school, then I think taking a year off to work in a legal position would be perfectly fine. I was actually just having drinks tonight with a friend who took a year off and worked with the public defender’s office, and he loved his experience and thought that it added a lot to his education.
There are pros and cons to doing both, and if you skip the year off and go straight to law school, you’re not going to be behind or at a disadvantage. 1L year will level the playing field pretty well. Hope this helps!
