Dallon grimaced as he took a sip of his beer. He’d been there before, not that he’d ever admit to it. “Probably isn’t much of a loss”, he tried to console the other man. “Claybourne isn’t really full of great catches. All the good ones are already taken.”

Emilia sighed, taking a long sip of her iced coffee before looking over at the person who she happened to walk up next to. “I don’t know…aren’t we a little old for these homecoming queen like events?” She shook her head. “I suppose small towns never really do change, do they?” Memories of this event happening when she was younger flooded her brain, how excited her mother got, how badly she wanted the title one day but now it just seemed a bit silly to her, although she felt a jolt of excitement when she first saw her name on the nominations list.

He was surprised when she talked to him, but was glad she did. For years he’d watched Emilia from a far, wanting to get to know her but knowing she was far out of his league.��“I dunno”, he said grabbing his cup of hot coffee and taking a sip. “It’s just a tradition. He let out a laugh before rubbing the back of his neck. He knew he’d been working a lot but for him to not be involved with Kayla’s schooling was uncharacteristically like him. “Uh yeah. Her and her mom live with me. I just have been pretty busy with work and shi- ... Er, stuff.”

“That must have been fun learning everything from him,” Isabella said with a grin, trying not to smirk as she knew that she had this man wrapped around her finger. She didn’t go into tonight want to hook up with someone but now that Dallon caught her eye, she was quite interested to find out how it would be sleeping with him. Chuckling to his next words, the smirk appeared and she nodded. “I’m having a few drinks while flirting with a good looking man so no complains from me,” she flirted smoothly, running her tongue over her lips. “I’ve lived here all my life. What about you?”

He raised is brow once more. “Now that’s surprising”, the man stated before taking a sip from the fresh beer. “I’ve lived here my whole life too and I’m sure I’d remember seeing you around before.”

He had a great smile and a cute laugh too which made her grin right back at him. “Have you always wanted to be a fisherman?” She asked wondering as she took another sip of her beer and eventually downing the rest of it as she knew another glass was coming. As much as she loved flirting with him, he was opening up to her and she was going to do the same. “I work as a nurse at the hospital so I’m there most of my days. I live on coffee and no sleep but I love my job and I’ve been told I can be a workaholic so that’s why I’m trying to get out more.”

“Not really”, the man stated giving her a little shrug. “I grew up doing it because my Grandpa did it, so I just kinda fell into it.” He could tell she was already eating out of the palm of his hand, and there was part of him that hated it. How was he expected to not go through women like socks when they would flock to him so easily? He gave her another grin. “Well, I’d say you’re doing a fairly good job tonight, wouldn’t you say? So, how long have you lived in Claybourne?”

Dallon peered over at the paper and couldn’t help but chuckle. Miss Ryan was right. Kayla truly had terrible penmanship. Perhaps it was something that she’d gotten from him? Hopefully that was about the only thing his niece would get from him. “Yeah, I guess I can try to get her to work on it. Only thing is mine isn’t much better so I’m not sure how well that will turn out.”

The smirk he was wearing broke into a full on grin as a little laugh tumbled from his lips. He looked over towards the waitress and asked for two more beers. He’d noticed that the pool tables had a spot opened up but at this point he could care less. “I fish”, Dallon told her before taking another drink. “Like most of the working class men in this town.” He placed the nearly empty bottle down in front of him again, spinning it softly between his fingers. “And what about you, Isabella?”

Giving his hand a shake, she ran her tongue over her lips before taking a sip of her beer and responding back. “It’s nice to meet you, Dallon. And no, I don’t get out too often due to work but when I do, I make it count,” she said with the smirk still playing on her lips. “After another one of these I might just join you at one of the pool tables when one opens up.”

A crooked smirk began to form on his face. As he got older, saw the way his sister was treated by guys, it made him want to be a better guy. But she flirted with him first, how was he expected to hold back his fuckboy tendencies? “Well what are you drinking? Next one might be on me.”

He didn’t mind standing, though after his long day sitting would feel good. Still, he remained standing until the woman offered him her name. Sliding out the chair Dallon collapsed into the seat, his long legs making it so his knees nearly hit the top of the table. “Dallon”, he said holding out his hand before taking another drink of his beer. “So, you come here a lot?”

After cleaning up her house and buying groceries for the week, Isabella debated on staying in that night making dinner and curling up and watching a movie, but a beer at the brewery sounded better. Making her way to Brooke Brewery, she ordered herself a beer and took a seat and began people watching. Starting to scroll on her phone and check in on her texts and emails, she noticed someone standing by her table and looked up at them. “You can sit here if you want,” she said with a smile.

It had been a bitterly cold day on the boat, the wind whipping, waves splashing about. After a poor catch day he was utterly chilled to the bone. He should have gone home, but with his younger sister there, certainly in the middle of some dramatic crisis, making the bar much more appealing. As he took a sip of his drink Dallon stared over towards the billiards area when he heard a voice. “Oh, I was just looking at the pool tables, waiting for one to open up.”

Dallon cocked his brow as he listened to her ramble on and on while pressing his bottle of beer to his lips. Listening to a girl still her feelings at the bar wasn't exactly his plan for the night but considering he had a little sister, the man tended to be a better listener then most. He knew first hand it was better to just stay quiet and let a woman have it out then to interrupt. That only caused more problems. “You’re fine”, the dark haired man said setting his drink down on the bar. “I get it too. Not that I have kid, I have a niece. And a sister I help out a lot. I think some girls get jealous I out them first so the bounce pretty quickly too.” Not that he minded all that much.
