Cis people think trans people have this:
Deadname
Chosen name
But honestly we really have:
Name
Other name
Deadname
Business name
Old nickname only some people have rights to use
Online name
Extra special secret name you don’t get to know, unless… ;)

Thinking about the protestors at little town pride this past weekend.
They come to us to preach about jesus, they recite Luke 15: 3-7, the parable of the lost sheep. They tell us to return to the shepherd because we've lost our way. Come with them, lost sheep, and your return will be celebrated.
And it has been bothering me, as someone who used to belong to a quasi-evangelical church, which only did good deeds because it was a way to spread God's word, who left that church as soon as I was given the freedom to leave, who has been putting a lot of energy into helping people because it makes me feel happy...
How do you know for sure that I'm the lost sheep?
How are you so certain that the person who needs the lesson is me?
If God has a plan for me, and His plan is mysterious and no one can know it, how are you so sure that you haven't gotten the roles reversed?
How do you know without a single doubt, that I (nonbinary person in a queer relationship, whose friends are trans people and sex workers and recovering addicts and performers) am not part of God's plan for YOU? How can you presume you know that I'm not a lesson for you in tolerance and charity and creation and the mysterious ways that the Lord moves?
How do you KNOW?
It's not worth it to bring this up to a protester. It will just rile them up- they're not actually here to listen to the lost sheep. I don't argue with agitators. After all- Im no longer part of the church so what do i know about the bible? But sometimes I want this to be brought up in the sermon. I want them to think about God's Plan and why they're so sure that they know their part to play.

"I need more queer friends" is all well and good but I think you actually want more kind open-minded friends. My brief college roommate was a lesbian but such an unbearable you're-not-queer-enough exclusionist that I dread bumping into her at pride every year, meanwhile I have friends now who are such good allies that I regularly forget they are straight.

I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"

If it comes from parents who model the behavior they want to see, then this is good parenting.
The problem is that many parents don't model this behavior. Many parents are authoritarian and rule by fear. Many parents take advantage of the fact that they're bigger, they control the finances, their power is upheld by society, and their children are dependent on them. And they complain when their child starts treating people the exact same way.

Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!
For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!
Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!
