just a tiny little question from me to you~! ♡ this isn’t lolita-related exactly, but something that’s been shifting in my heart lately… would you mind if i slowly shifted this blog into more of a general fashion space? it would still be centered mostly around sweet lolita (always~!), but lately i’ve been ever so curious about 1950s fashion, and i’d love to document that journey here too.

i never want to fill this space with things you wouldn’t enjoy reading, but i also want to share this exploration, as it feels like such a sweet and sentimental step in my personal style. ♡

hello cuties~!

today’s little lolita talk is something that’s been sitting in my heart for a while now. consider it a gentle and quiet warmth… due in part with my own wardrobe feeling very small these days and this cute little post from 2009, it felt like the perfect subject to speak on. ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

not too long ago, i found myself in a place where my wardrobe had been reduced to just a few pieces due to switching substyles (gothic to sweet). for the longest time, only one main piece. that one piece that's so evident on my blog, the room print jsk by metamorphose temps de fille, became an anchor for me. something i reached for time and time again.. (╥﹏╥) so much so that i became a liiiittle tired of it.

but, even then, i wore it so much that it began to carry a memory all its own. every time i put it on, it felt like a thread tying me back to myself, reminding me with every wear truly how much i love lolita, even when i'm limited to a single piece...! it was whimsical and dreamy and so very me, and even now, just thinking about it makes me feel warm. ✧₊⁺

though i had once believed that i’d need an expansive wardrobe to really be “in” sweet lolita fashion, to feel legitimate, expressive, or even present, this experience reminded me otherwise. slowly building back from almost nothing taught me that a small wardrobe can be every bit as full of magic. a single dress can hold a hundred different moods if you let it. a favorite piece can be a storybook you never get tired of reading...! (⸝⸝> ᴗ•⸝⸝)

even now, with just a few more additions, i still find myself returning to that jsk again and again. and every time, it feels a little different - sometimes with a new bow, or a different blouse, or a change in season. and every time, it still feels just right. ♡

what i've learned is this: rebuilding isn’t about making up for lost time or catching up to some imagined standard. it’s about reconnecting. about curating joyfully, gently. about allowing yourself to find the magic in each new piece you welcome, and also in the ones that have stayed with you the longest. ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡

i truly believe there’s no rush in this fashion, it's considered a slow one for a reason. the perfect pieces will wait for you. whether you have one dress or twenty, what matters most is how you feel when you wear them. and if your wardrobe is tiny like mine, know that it can still be mighty with the heart of it's wearer.

there’s kind of an elegance in choosing slowly, in loving deeply, and in wearing the same piece again and again because it feels like you. just like we spoke of in our last post together…! these gentle musings are as much for me as they are for you. ♡ for a while, it felt like i’d drifted a bit.. not quite away from sweet lolita, but away from feeling like myself when thinking about it. i haven’t worn my frills in some months now, and yet, writing these words helps me fall in love all over again… though i suppose, i never truly fell out? sometimes, we just need to remember what makes our hearts sing.. and this is very much mine. ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡)

coordinate repetition — why it’s important to normalize it ⋆˚࿔

hello all~!

this little topic has been fluttering in my notes since february this year, and with my wardrobe feeling so small at the moment, it felt like the perfect time to finally give it its moment to bloom. ♡

there’s a certain trend i used to often see while scrolling through captions from fellow lolitas on insta or here… something along the lines of, “repeating this coordinate because it’s just too cute not to,” or, more playfully, “wearing this for the fiftieth time.. maybe one day i’ll have a bigger wardrobe~!” and how very sweet those sentiments are..! ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)

and yet, nestled in those light-hearted comments, there’s almost a wistful sigh (personally speaking anyhow)… a sense of wishing, or perhaps a tiny self-consciousness about not always having something “new” to wear, if you will. if you align with this, know i understand it wholly. i’ve felt it too. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

when i first began building my wardrobe, i thought i’d need endless dresses to truly be part of the fashion... row after row of lace, print, and color - as if abundance meant authenticity. despite reading kind advice reminding me that wardrobe size is always up to the wearer, i still imagined that having “more” was somehow necessary to feel enough.

but as time has passed, and as i’ve worn the same cherished pieces again and again, i’ve come to a gentler understanding. repetition, i’ve realized, is not a limitation - there’s such beauty in reimagining a piece you love. a jsk isn’t just one coordinate frozen in time… it’s a canvas, waiting for your mood, your styling, your story that day. one piece can feel playful and sugary with striped socks and a cotton blouse, and then refined and dreamy with a touch of the right jewelry and soft chiffon. no two wears are ever truly the same, even if the main piece is...! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡

in fact, i find that returning to a favorite coordinate can feel almost like visiting a dear friend… familiar, comforting, and full of quiet joy. there’s something so special in knowing what pieces make you feel most you, and leaning into that. it’s not about having an abundance of brands or such things, it’s about having a few treasures that make your heart flutter every time you reach for them. ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡)

sometimes, the desire for a bigger wardrobe stems not from lack, but from not yet discovering all the ways a single piece or more can blossom. with a shift in accessories, a different bag, a seasonal twist, or even a playful new hairstyle… suddenly, something old feels entirely new again.

so if you find yourself wearing the same coordinate again, whether for the second or the tenth time, know that there is elegance in that repetition. you are not behind, or lacking, or less “real” a lolita in any way. your style, your pace, and your joy are what matter most. and there is so much beauty in wearing something you truly love again and again, each time with new light.

after all, your favorite music repeats its chorus.. why can't you? (๑>؂•̀๑)

new wardrobe review…! ୨ৎ

hello, there~! it’s been ever so long, hasn’t it? i thought, what better way to return than with a soft little wardrobe review of a piece i picked up in april…! 🩷 although i haven’t yet had the delight of wearing it out, i have been able to try it on at home and my, it’s so very comfortable… light as a whisper, and so breathable too! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

my wife encouraged me to get it, even though the colorway is lavender, pink, and black - rather than my usual pink x black… and though i hesitated at first, i must admit i’ve completely fallen for it. truly, anything with “princess” in the name is already halfway to winning my heart.. and if it has furniture or room motifs? i’m sold. (yes, i am looking lovingly at my dear room print jsk…)

please do excuse the use of lolibrary photos… i haven’t had a moment to take my own just yet. i found this piece secondhand (naturally!), and while it isn’t as “vintage” as some of the treasures in my slowly-rebuilding wardrobe, it has just passed its tenth birthday (i believe anyhow), first released in 2014. and let me say, the previous owner must have adored it dearly. it arrived in nearly mint condition… i was genuinely touched. ♡ you can always feel the love a garment has received, and this one truly glows with care. the seller was also so sweet and warm to speak with on lace market, it made the whole experience even more special.

as for the brand, meta has always held a sweet little place in my heart. 🩷🖤 i’d say they’re probably my third favorite among the bigger japanese brands, and their quality really does shine through the years. plus, the sizing flexibility was such a lovely surprise… this jsk fit like a dream. truly, it was as though it had been made just for me.

all in all, this piece brought me such joy, and i can’t wait to share a coordinate with it soon.. especially now that i’ve finally gotten my hands on a darling pair of tea parties. i’m envisioning something that leans a little more into the black of the colorway, which feels so elegant and exciting~! i hope to share that soon, once i’ve had a moment to plan it just so. ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜

it felt so nice to write something a bit longer again, especially about a piece that’s brought me such happiness. i’m looking forward to chatting about the smaller additions i’ve gathered during my absence too… little by little, my wardrobe feels like me again.

hi all, sincerely longtime no talk..!

my blog has amassed a lot more followers than expected since my hiatus began in early february! thanks so much for that. i sincerely hate that i went inactive for a while, but mental health can really be the downfall of even one’s most brightest passions — this blog being mine. i just wanted to come here to reconnect, and see how everyone was doing.

i’m not sure how many avid readers often read my posts every monday, but if you’re still here, thank you for waiting. this won’t be a promise of return, but more so just one those every once in a while check ins i’ve seemed to do. 💗 lolita fashion is still one of my biggest joys, and the desire to build my dream wardrobe definitely hasn’t stopped, but i’ve definitely lost a lot of momentum these last couple of months. i feel really disconnected from myself and my interests lately, and while i know i still love everything i do here and outside in my everyday life, nothing clicks like it used to.

i put a lot of love into this blog from around october 2024 to january 2025 almost every day and every week, and i loved so much doing that. but i really feel i burnt myself out a lot and found myself feeling low from having no bright ideas of what to post / to even enjoy writing about. while those sinking feelings have lessened significantly, i’m still at a stand still of what to do, or where to go with my blog from here. i feel very unmotivated and uninspired, which is a total bummer..! ♡ 🥹

i’ve been continuing to build my wardrobe silently in my corner of the world, and i will continue to do just that. i don’t really feel the need to show anything off in a post or ramble about it, but a fun piece i got recently is a metamorphose jsk called “princess wardrobe” in lavender that i’m abysmally in love with. do look it up if you get the chance..! 💕 i deleted my instagram in february as well, and haven’t felt the need to reactivate for any particular reason. my era of being online in the lolita community feels as if it may pass me by, with only my blog to continue to house me. and honestly? i think i’m growing more and more okay with this fact. being a lone lolita this long into my journey has filled me with a lot of things, including comfort. so turning my online safe space into my own lolita world with just me and some special others who may be here for the journey doesn’t sound so bad.

otherwise, in recent news, i’ve got a job.. this means more lolita money and more dream wardrobe building. my wardrobe definitely still has a long way to go, but all the dreams and manifesting i’ve spoken of here rings true lately. i’ve accomplished quite a few things in my absence here for my lolita journey that would make me from months ago squeak with joy. this thought is definitely a happy one. 🥹❤︎

i ran a poll a while ago asking what you guys would be interested in reading as i was burnt out on ideas, so thus this topic was chosen! i apologize for it being delayed.. i'm a little under the weather lately, so my posts may be slower / infrequent depending on my mood. anyway, my birthday recently passed (a month ago), and i was incredibly lucky to have some new additions come into my wardrobe as gifts..! ( ˆ𐃷ˆ) .ᐟ.ᐟ

i'll be really brief with these items as i really just wanted to share this post..! as i am currently writing this draft has been stuck since january. i am rewriting as it was originally supposed to be a part 1 out of 2 review, considering i hadn't received some of my birthday gifts at the time i last wrote this draft. i've since received everything and can't wait to show everyone what i was lucky enough to receive. i really can't wait to coordinate everything~! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

first is this gorgeous 2009 heart polka dot cardigan from angelic pretty..! -`♡´- it's my first ap cardigan and one of my first staple brand piece. i'm really excited to coordinate this as it'll go super well with my signature style! my wife got this for such a decent price on mercari jp as well..! i was really shocked at how perfectly thin it is too.. it'll be perfect for wearing even in warm weather. :0

second is this 2010 pretty ribbon by angelic pretty, once again..! -`♡´- this bag was in such pristine condition..? especially for it to be ten years old..! it's black and pink too, the gems are really pretty and perfect for all of my future coords. i see myself using this bag the most..! ♡⸜(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)⸝♡ i'm really happy about this addition, especially because of how surprisingly spacious it is.

third is slightly thicker axes femme cardigan that i was all too happy to ask for (it was only ten dollars.. perfect steal!). -`♡´- i don't see myself getting to wear this anytime soon unfortunately as this is too thick for the state in which i live, and the weather is finally starting to get warmer.. i thought this was a lot thinner before my wife got it for me! (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

fourth are these very loved 2008 ballerina shoes style otks by angelic pretty (can you tell the theme of this birthday haul yet?)... (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)? these are definitely going to be worn with care as they look like they'll crumble within two seconds of wear. luckily, i am training to be good at repairing my items, so hopefully i can save these when the inevitable first tear may come..! ꉂ (≧ヮ≦) hoping one day to find these in better condition, but for now these are not too worse for wear and they were a gift nonetheless! i'll cherish them all the more - they come with a history and story, and that's truly what i love about secondhand items, especially when they're gifts..! (´▽`)

lastly is this gorgeous bag by loris (a chinese indie brand)! this is actually the only non-secondhand item in this haul! it is incredibly spacious and a lot bigger than expected..! ฅ^>⩊<^ ฅ i already slapped a keychain of one of my oshis on it, and she matches so well. i really can't wait to use this in a coordinate. it's super quality and to say i'm not obsessed is a lie~.

bittersweet lolita: what it means to me presently ദ്ദി(｡•̀ ,<)~✩‧₊

i expect this post to not be perceived well by some, but it is not at all intended to insight argument or age old debate..! this is just a subject i'm super passionate about, and would like to hold the stage in discussing my own thoughts on it. if this kind of post irritates you then feel free to move along quietly as these thoughts are just my own. ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ)

i know back in the early 2000s - 2010s of lolita this term definitely ruffled some feathers, especially due to the nature in which it was first created / referred to. but as time passes feelings come to change or just completely become erased all together (some anyway). these days when using the term "bittersweet" it is kind of ambiguous as to what it truly is and has since moved very far away for which it was originally created for. this i strongly believe most lolitas can agree on. ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)

my thoughts on this term come as what i've seen most think of it as - a label or a "category" (i say this loosely) of color, just not it's own substyle. as bittersweet, to me, is still very much sweet lolita, just a different means of styling different colors that aren't the common pastels / light colorways seen in typical sweet coordinates. as one lolita so easily put it when commentating on the taboo topic of this term:

"I mostly use it to save on characters. "Bittersweet" is far quicker and shorter to type than "Black colourways of sweet prints"."

it could be as simple as that! or as another lolita said under the same post:

"I personally use it simply because it describes the very, very particular style I like. Yes, I'm perfectly aware it still falls under "sweet", but typing "sweet lolita in black" usually doesn't turn up what I'm looking for and tends to include any style of lolita in black (ie. Classic, gothic, etc.)"

all this is to say that those of us who do use this term these days definitely mean no harm by it. (ㅅ´ ˘ `) most of us are very much aware and acknowledge we are sweet lolitas who just wear a different color combination from the norm. it's just nice to revisit aged topics such as this one to discuss it with a modern eye and think about how much it's truly evolved. (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)

furthermore, one of my favorite quotes to think on when thinking about the term bittersweet comes from this particular blog post, as it really resonated with me when i finally found my style / footing in sweet lolita. it helped me stop shying away from using the term, as i didn't want to insight discourse, despite knowing what i was wearing isn't a substyle to begin with and wanted to use it as a label. the quote in question being:

"At the end of the day, I think it’s one of those things where, while I wouldn’t really teach it as a lolita substyle in an intro to lolita fashion panel, I think if someone wants to describe themselves as wearing bittersweet or circus lolita or whatever else, while some of us might have a gut reaction to reject it as “not a thing”, I think at the same time, it’s one of those things that isn’t really hurting anyone, so why judge someone for it?"

finally, this post isn't to say go wild and label lolita however you please. it's clear that the term "bittersweet" in the context of lolita fashion has evolved far beyond its original associations, and has turned more into an ambiguous label. while it's not a substyle in the traditional sense, it's use as a convenient way to describe something that has simply become part of the modern lolita lexicon, disliked vehemently or not. the important thing here is that, as a community, we’ve grown and adapted, allowing for more nuanced ways to express our individual styles without judgment. (⸝⸝> ᴗ•⸝⸝) after all, lolita fashion is about self-expression, and at the end of the day, what matters most is that we feel confident and comfortable in the clothes we love..! ♡

afterword: i label myself as bittersweet mainly to save on wordage and such. i'm a sweet lolita and will always say this first and foremost..! ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- i'm always proud to rep sweet as my substyle and would never choose a term otherwise. my clothing color choices are just simply "bittersweet" to me at the end of the day with no meaning intended other than black x pink sweet lolita. 🥰

it’s been quite a while since my last post (only about two weeks, a week..? not sure! but anyway, as promised december 13th i told you i would revisit this coordinate once i got more to add onto it that matched better! since then i’ve received a couple of new additions to go towards my wardrobe that i could finally use to make this coordinate feel more complete while still comfortable for wearing on a date during the winter!

the left photo is the new additions to my wardrobe added to my coordinate: axes femme poetique angora knit cardigan, lofty jp platform shoes with a pearl heart buckle, and an unbranded bag in the style of that similar to angelic pretty’s jewel boston bag (not sure what style of bag it’s called!). i even added a my melody keychain into my bag to draw the pinks in from my dress to match my handbag..! i thought it matched perfectly

my headwear was a choice voted for on a poll i ran on insta for this coordinate as i’ve had that black kc from aatp for a very long time, just no chance to wear it! it felt nice to finally put it to use even though i love my big baby bow..! ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- while i definitely think this coordinate could have more additions (jewelry for example), i think it’s reached new heights versus the first coordinate test i did. that’s the beauty of new additions to a wardrobe! building in small but mighty amounts really does do the difference.

new wardrobe review…! ୨ৎ

mercari japan haul: lolita on a budget

hello~! recently we discussed building a new capsule wardrobe together, and i thought that this post would be a perfect timing to show off new additions. i know that i said i'd build a visual, but i have yet to do so.. anyways, it's not much but it's a start! y'know lolita wardrobes aren't built in a day, so let's build together one piece at a time..! ⊹₊⟡⋆

all of these pieces are secondhand and were bought from amazing deals on mercari japan. it inspired me to write and show that lolita, while an expensive fashion at times, CAN be affordable in areas where you shouldn’t have to spend much (ie: blouses, stockings / tights, purses, etc.)..! i bought these garments with the idea that i needed to add some pieces to spice up my coordinates to make them a bit less plain or too casual feeling.

first up is this gorgeous angora knit sweater by axes femme sub brand, poetique..! i got this for literally $8 usd out of all the $30 usd listings for the same cardigan. ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ ) it's soft to the touch and although it's aged, the previous owner took very good care of it. its as good as new, to be honest..! ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜ it isn't exactly my desired black x pink colorway it still has potential to be a great staple piece within my wardrobe! black matches everything anyway (just about), so a bit of yellow or lilac from the embroidery won't drag my coordinates down, honestly.

secondly, is this adorable lodispotto cardigan that is "sakura pink" and is also soft to the touch. while the photo makes it out to be a super pale pink, it definitely has a bit more color in real life. i noticed as well that the cardigan has a similar shape as the poetique one does, and i'm happy about it..! i consider this kind of cardigan style to be very lolita. ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ it comes with these gorgeous pearl and gem buttons on it, all of which are in pristine condition~! i'm super happy to say i snagged this cardigan for $6 usd. ♡(˃͈ ˂͈ ) while i am not as confident about styling a solid pink piece into my coordinates just yet, i can't wait to practice.

lastly, i have this gorg. unbranded alice in wonderland bag. i bought it for around $18 usd, and it was virtually brand new / unused. the style of it reminds me of one of my dream bags from angelic pretty, and i think that's why i was drawn to buying it! plus a black and white purse can add a splash more color to coordinates to break it up, so it'll definitely go to good use..! ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ ) you can't see the alice theme very well and i'm sort of happy about that as i bought the bag mainly for the style of the front rather than the intended use of being for alice in wonderland fans..! (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

ah yes, the rare and only old school coordinate i own. it's super simple and incredibly comfortable..! despite wearing a casual a-line petti with this one piece i feel like i still get a great amount of poof. i really love how classy and elegant wearing this coordinate makes me feel as well..! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡ i'm sincerely glad i could coordinate my new purse with this look alongside my ita bag for my oshi i've been working on for a bit. my oshi, shirayuki himeno, is actually the one who designed this one piece and the headdress i'm wearing in this photo set..! she's super talented, especially considering this was her first ever clothing release of any kind.
